As a law student in DC I attended countless Supreme Court arguments over those three years. As a lawyer I worked (never appeared on record before them) on Supreme Court cases since the first hour I was admitted to practice back in 1978. I am am still now an active member of the bar. Thank you Senator Whitehouse for minding this store (or should I say "bar" given the graphics in this well done presentation). Your tireless efforts to bring accountability to the Supreme Court are a credit to the Senate. Your good work on this in the past was marginalized even by your fellow Democratic committee members - - but you persist. I hope now your work can pay off. The perversion of ethics and the wielding of favoritism by many of the Justices destroys the county's expectations of fairness and justice and infects the rest of the judiciary. The fact that there is no discipline, no correction from the Court itself speaks to a tragically damaged institution. The fact than none of the Justices has stepped down in shame given recent revelations of influence and graft suggests that they are not the best legal minds, not the best people of character and not worthy of their positions of trust over the Constitution and laws of the United States. You have opened the eyes of the Nation, Senator Whitehouse. And thank you for making me a very sad lawyer. But we know there is a path to honor and it's through your work.

Why are there so few Senators and Congressmen/women willing to join in the effort for ANY kind of transparency/ethics/rules in any/every aspect of our government along with this great man and all the hard work he is putting in to achieve that goal??? The Supreme Court has always bent to the will of the American people, and has indeed yielded on numerous occasions to public pressure. That's history. That's political science 101.
Yet Roberts whines about truthful discourse; asserting sacrosanct "judicial independence"--while decision after decision demonstrates this court to be utterly beholden to libertarian billionaires... Bought-and-paid-for sure doesn't sound very "independent" to me.

When the news first broke from Pro-politico about Clarence Thomas and his blatant corruption I became enraged that no one could hold him accountable! Then more and more information came out. Justice Roberts was not keeping watch over his court, something was amiss. NOW we Americans have a Senator who has the courage and intelligence to stand up as he has been elected in our democracy to do.
In this time of deepening political corruption, dark money and power hungry billionaires …there may be hope. Thank you Senator Whitehouse!

Who would want to hire them!? Besides what they have taken from under the table they can exist very well! When Alito, Thomas and Sotomayor were nominated ,I was so pleased that our Supreme Court was well represented! When Jackson came in I was really concerned that the likes of Ted Cruz one day may find a reason to disqualify her because she didn't know what a woman is,,and apparently I don't believe he has found the answer to that question !

Thank you Senator Whitehouse. The cases heard by the Supreme Court involving their “friends” and any cases influenced by Leonard Leo or their many companies must be reviewed under a microscope and action taken to right the wrongs of the Supreme Court.
So, if there are (ethical guidelines) only? for disclosure... what are the consequences, if any. What's the point if there is no consequence.
