- April 30 | Senator Sheldon Whitehouse (D-RI), Chairman of the Senate Judiciary Courts Subcommittee, delivers the thirty-first in a series of speeches titled “The Scheme,” exposing the machinations by right-wing donor interests to capture the Supreme Court and achieve through the Court what they cannot through the elected branches of government.
Whitehouse compares the prosecutions of government officials for failing to properly disclose gifts of free vacations, event tickets, lodging, or travel, with the lack of accountability for the right-wing Court justices who have received similar undisclosed gifts.
This whole self serving abuse of power by these justices must be investigated. Thank you Senator Whitehouse.
We need a Democratic majority in both houses that can take action on what Senator Whitehouse has found and rightfully remove corrupt justices. There will be no justice for the American people if we do not vote landslide victories for Democratic candidates. vote blue, Vote Blue, VOTE BLUE

@@therealrobertbirchall Its because 1 party had decided decades ago that they were going to control the Supreme Court regardless of who was elected President, by buying those justices, and shutting out an democratic Presidents ability to put forth his nominee if there was a Republican in charge of the Senate. Pure and simple. Money talks when you have no integrity, and have no care for democracy, and how it works. Clarence Thomas would've been banished from any other Supreme Court, up until about 30 years ago. It came to fruition when they decided to throw out 40,000 votes in Fla. in the 2020 election.

As a past federal employee, it is astounding that the Supreme Court has no ethics division or oversight, but the deepest cruelty is that these justices do not have the humanity or morality to affect what is best for our country. These justices spit on the rule of law and fairness for all.

@@seraphcreed840 it seems for far too long, the US government and its branches have relied on its officers being "good men and women", when we can see just how corrupt some of them have been all along. This needs to be sorted out, with proper punishments.
@@seraphcreed840The difference is, Congress and Senate representatives have to give up their positions every 4 and 6 years respectively, or campaign for re-election, and be accountable for their record while in office. There are term limits. SCOTUS Justices have zero oversight, zero accountability, and zero repercussions when they don’t follow the rules - such as refusing to recuse themselves from cases that come before them where one party is a briber of theirs. These corrupt Justices are legislating from the bench, regardless of the fact they have never been elected by American voters. It is a HUGE risk of corruption, and Thomas, Alito, Kavanaugh, Coney-Barrett, Roberts have all shown the repercussions of that huge miscarriage of justice. Senator Whitehouse is a hero for raising this huge issue, and not backing down on all of it. An overhaul of SCOTUS is obviously required. Term limits, elections, recusal rules… and no one political party allowed to hold up new Justice appointments if the President in office happens to be of the opposite party.
That should warrant real investigations and punishment for those who are involved.

America has been a beacon of light for the rest of the world i.e. democracy, looking after our old and sick Americans, our children and helping our friends and neighbors. But this is now all in the past. Please President Biden and senators like you, do something otherwise America is finished.
We're failing ourselves by failing to hold our elected representatives feet to the fire. How many people reach out in any way to their elected representatives to discuss issues that matter to them and ask their representatives to take steps to address them? Not many at all and we're seeing the consequences of congress's failure to act in any way to reign in the Supreme Court. Congress has failed to act because we've failed to force their hand to act. Meaningful change is a phone call away. Trust me that things can start moving if enough people ask or continue asking elected representatives to get things fixed. We need to start actively engaging them because they work for us.

Start petitioning your elected officials for Supreme Court overhaul. The Court is averse to change that threatens its structure. We can start by adding more justices, start the amendment process to limit the justices to term limits, age maximums. More importantly Congress can make laws that reverse their opinions such as Citizens United. That disgusting decision is only law because congress has failed to any pass legislation that could effectively shut it down. Tell your elected representatives that enough is enough and that it's time they act.

It’s so disheartening seeing these corrupt Injustices working backwards again and again, inventing increasingly farfetched arguments to support “decisions” they’ve already made instead of ruling based on the persuasiveness of the arguments, or creatively reinterpreting the Constitution in ways that Constitutional scholars agree are utterly nonsensical. For example, using the Free Exercise clause to justify ruling against violations of the Establishment clause, or that 14th Amendment disqualifications must be decided by Congress when a two-thirds vote by Congress is required to make an exception. (And that’s not even going into the paper-thin excuses they used to support overturning Roe. The Constitution didn’t mention a woman’s right to an abortion at a time when women were effectively the property of their fathers/husbands? You don’t say!)

Dear Senator Whitehouse, Thank you very much for this update. I follow it from Denmark and am also upset as you are. I sit disillusioned and with shattered ideals, I have always admired America's Supreme Court and praised the United States for its unique legal system that ensures that all Americans have equal rights before the law.
I'm surprised there aren't more protests from the Republican House and Senate. These revelations should bring down all the judges in the supreme court, they are all under indictment. To either do the same as Justes Thomas or to be aware that this deception is taking place. It's a very clear picture. They line up, a crooked stick against a straight one. Everyone can see the difference. I hope you continue to shine a light on these judges, Americans deserve a Supreme Court that has a backbone like a straight stick.

Okay, so I'm a Brit. I am not sure how all this works, but it seems to me, a lot of DoJ officialdom should light up and say 'Tilt'! Is no-one interested enough to say; "This geezer Whitehouse can't be entirely wrong, why hasn't someone called nine one one?" I have listened to many of Whitehouse's "The Scheme" videos and I simply cannot understand why and how the sh1t hasn't yet hit the fan. In Britain there is no direct equivalent of SCOTUS, but there are enough senior Law Lords who could be .....influenced, shall we say? Only if someone as respected and informed as Sheldon Whitehouse stood up in the House of Lords and gave that amount of detailed information, there would be a sh1tstorm in the press at the very least. They wouldn't let go of it until heads started to roll. Why is America so blessed?

Senator Whitehouse is what every politician should emulate. He is honest, earnest, intelligent, principled, and has a good American work ethic.
