Dak Prescott: I feel funny when a cop is behind me
HTML-код
- Опубликовано: 21 сен 2024
- When Dak Prescott’s mother found out she was pregnant with his oldest brother, she ran away from home. It was the South in the 1970s and her parents did not approve of her relationship with a black man. Prescott and his brothers always tried to educate people on race and intrinsic humanity, but he understands racism persists. Even now, as the well-known quarterback of the Dallas Cowboys, Prescott feels uneasy when he sees a cop behind him. That is why he donated $1 million to help educate officers. Also, Dak’s brother Tad discusses the generational differences that may contribute to racial tensions.
This show was recorded in accordance with CDC COVID-19 safety guidelines. All crew tested negative before the production.

Omg, this young man is a blessing to us all. His parents have done such a wonderful job raising him. He never ceases to amaze me. We have to keep him on our team. He can ascend our team to a whole new level on the field but more so off the field.
Dak the player is awesome but Dak the man is an inspiration and a good man!!
Much respect to Dak for not sugar coating the situation and keeping it real.
That's his PR agent wants you to think
Awsome Interview. Dak is a good dude
Yes he is
Lets face it, no one feels real smooth and comfy with a cop behind them.
Yes you do if you know that you're perfectly clean with no guilty conscience. Guess you've never done that to know what THAT feels like.

Come on. U may be nervous to get a ticket but is it a life and death situation 4 ya?
U dont understand your own privelige, theres not a lot of blue on blue crime.
Why are you hunting minorities day in and day out, why are you soooo racist . It breaks my heart that the entire police force is taught to hunt black people and encouraged to shoot someone because if this skin color. What did they do to you????
We are all humans are we not, god dam it.
And yes, this is a sarcasm comment but most of wht i wrote is verbatim of the retard sht ive seen people write.

Doesn’t matter what race you are, a cop behind you, your heart races.
James Jones, I understand but are afraid you might get more than a ticket.
Race DOES matter, and you're a damn liar for saying otherwise.
@@lenadiamond37 it does. It's sad but you are correct.
I’m a biracial person, and I had created an "All Lives Matter" t-shirt for my Amazon Store and my t-shirt website not for a specific race but for all races, and it was shut down by both platforms for being insensitive. 🤨
Clearly, they missed the big message of what those words truly mean. They felt that because one race adopted those words, they could never be used for their true meaning: That All Lives Matter.
I Have A Dream… That one day we will all come to our senses aka common sense.
At some point... and I mean some point, black folks need to stop playing the victim. Everyone is on the lookout when an officer is behind them.

I’m with you Dak. At the age of 15 I was a victim of an abusive law enforcement stop. I’m a professional semi driver and I haven’t had a ticket in over 15 years. I still feel nervous or anxious when I see a cop behind me.

Great interview! Keep up the excellent work, Graham.
I actually really like his view on how to change policing. He's not a defund the police idiot like some, he actually presents a reasonable and potentially useful plan to make a change. That's my quarterback!
Do you even know what defunding the police means? It's obvious you don't. Dallas PD receives millions of dollars in federal funding, and yet over 80% of their equipment doesn't work properly, but you don't think they should be refunded?
Taking a defund the police point of view is not being an idiot. Educate yourself before you stick your foot in your mouth. When you hear defund police it literally means making sure the FUNDS police receive is being USED correctly. Understand now? Does that make sense? Defund= managing the funds correctly, not funding police at ALL! Please educate yourself and not repeat what you here...you become the problem and perpetuate the problem when you're not correct on what you know. Watch more educated based tv programs as well....it helps!
@@jasonfisher6141 I didn't see your comment to this poorly educated person. But I threw my two cents at them as well. 🤦🏾♂️🤷🏾♂️
Jason Williams defund means no more money, idk maybe the definition recently changed but that’s what the word means
@@J_Caban google defund the police, it doesn't mean no more money
I feel the same way Dak and I just got pulled over again for NOTHING. Racial profiling from police will NEVER end.
A biracial person can never say they’re white but they can say they’re black
Man I love Dak. I will always root for him as Person Forever
I'm a cop and i get nervous when I get pulled over. The difference is people need to relax and just do what is asked of them. If you aren't confrontational, then the officer will not be confrontational. Fighting with the officer will just get both of you hurt. No one wants that and cops just want to go home to their families.
Yeah nice speech too many cops are racist and racial profiling daily. PERIOD.
A rich man from birth will never understand a poor man from birth, unless he the rich man one day becomes poor, and have to walk in the shoes of the poor man.

Everyone is a little scared when a cop is behind them. It’s not a racial thing. It’s normal.

Although i do not believe Dak is an Elite QB, im a fan of the guy, good dude
Most normal people do Dak no matter what race they are! What I did was make friends with as many law enforcement officers as I could, best thing I ever did! Good luck with your project I am behind 100%!
Okay I like Dak because he seems like a good dude. I understand where he is saying about being nervous about a cop behind him. I’m a white man and I’m also a cop and I STILL GET NERVOUS when a cop is behind me. It’s just an effect of possibly getting pulled over. The only thing Dak should be worried of is if he believes he did something wrong. You should feel a type of way if you give yourself a reason. As for Dak saying police need to know the community. That’s nearly impossible. The police do not do a job only to interact with communities. The police are doing a job that will enforce people from doing things and that can involve many situations. There are units inside big police departments that primarily focuses on community relations. But to make it sound crystal clear on all police should do is be friends with citizens is not possible. Unfortunately there are people who hate the police and who are evil. I can agree some with Dak on blacks not having as much opportunity as whites. I think it’s the same on both sides and I think it all stars where your family sets the foundation. It’s not because of white and black it’s because of how you want to live your life. It’s good he pledged that much but that’s not nearly enough to fix a kink.
All the education in the world at best, can only create superficial temporary changes. The Gospel of Jesus Christ is the only thing that can create true change in a heart.
We all do
Dak, you don't resist arrest, you comply with police instructions you live like everyone else. This isn't Mississippi in 1965.

Me. Too.....
Does that air tonight?
I’m a retired cop, Hispanic minority & 49 years old and I still feel nervous when a cop is driving behind me. It’s natural. C’mon Dak, stop playing a potential victim. You’re a millionaire playing football. Grow up.
I'm a 20 year old minority and it's nice seeing I'm not the only one with this perspective
I suppose because he's in the NFL. He doesnt have family and friends that he's speaking up for. Everybody knows once you're a millionaire racism stops. Just ask the owner of the Toronto Raptors dummy
Shut up....
Sterling Brown was a millionaire playing basketball. The cops could’ve killed him.
Just because you have money doesn’t make you any less susceptible to danger.
Of course you would say that retired cop, duh. Dak has a right to how he feels about certain circumstances. A VICTIM wouldn't donate 1 million $$$ bruh! Understand his context before speaking nonsense.
If you so adamantly want police reform, then you must have black reform, too. It's a 2-way street.
PREACH DAKKKK ‼🔥🔥
I wonder who Dak would call if the BLM or Antifa would PEACEFULLY protest down his neighborhood by burning or destroying personal property. Usually that funny feeling is probably from something he might have done illegal on the road.
Im a Dak fan now. Him and his brother just seem like fine young men. A true role model for kids. So nice to hear someone in his role speak so humbly. Awesome awesome interview.
did you not like him before?
@@GraveyardGod6 just never really listened to him much before. Havent followed him much in the past

Mark Cuban should donate the money to the department, where you at Mark?
Hellz yea even when they are in our presence uncomfortable

Well Graham another great job Dak and family interviews bring up some issues that are very personal to me as well and he's doing a great job but I just have to point out that I understand that you feel funny but you also know that once they recognize you as the quarterback of the Dallas Cowboys, the interaction is going to go a different way but for everybody who's not you we are stuck in that place where you're just worrying before they recognize Who You Are.
U r fine once they ask 4 your autograph dak, no to worry.
Dak, Tad, and his father Nathaniel all made excellent points. What a terrific family
It's. Good that you recognize that.....
I'm proud of you.......
......LEADER.....
Dak a real one....Growing up a mixed race kid in rural Louisiana must have gave him a perspective like no other....
So I haven’t even watched this clip but just going based off the title... we all do Dak. I wish African Americans really understood this, maybe they do. I’m a hispanic male that could pass for white and I have many family members and friends who are “white” and I don’t know a single person them included who doesn’t feel supremely uncomfortable when a cop is behind them much less getting pulled over by one. On the other hand I also feel uncomfortable with a bunch of other types of situations that if I described here, might be considered racist yet that’s what instinct does. It really doesn’t care how we wished we thought, it just tries to protect us. What’s the point of me saying this? Well the only solution I really see is to do our best not to stereotype people as even with cops and all the insanity recently, the chances you have even as a minority of being shot are very low. Particularly if you have no reason to be worried nor start acting irrationally. We obviously care as every single incident of things like this happening end up being highly reported on and even falsified to fit a narrative even when they don’t fit. I just wish people took the time to research this stuff for themselves as seeing the statistics on these things not only would make many feel better (so long as we aren’t talking about people who get off on the strife) but also directly contradict many of the things we hear today. I guess that’s for people to decide. Do they want the truth? Or just what validates their own thoughts and beliefs.
I love the irony of your last sentence. Arguing for "truth" and offering a rebuttal to a video you admitted you didn't watch. That's pretty hilarious 🤣
Andrew I did actually watch the video, the point I was making is that I started commenting before even watching clip since I was pretty sure exactly where it would go and what do you know? It does. Although I don’t have an issue with dak, in fact I really like him. My comment was more about the big picture situation
Andrew In short Dak said exactly what I thought he would based on the title
If you aren’t doing anything wrong, what is there to feel nervous about??
I love Dak, but if you aren't a criminal or do anything suspicious then you'll be fine.
Dak is a good dude. He the man.
But not a good qb.
@@michaelclayton2323 yes he is.

I like Dak, so much I can’t stand it.
Dak i'm very impressed with you. I'm taken back with how great this Interview was. Keep it up young man because the Future is bright for you in all facets.
So do I and iam white
So it's weird that you feel funny when pulled over? That's a human thing, not a race thing
🙄
Hey dak everyone feels funny when a cop gets behind them homie don't pull the race card
I'll feel funny too if someone was behind me trying to spread my cheeks
HELL YEA! I'm not black, and they creep me out, when around cops. Can't imagine
There is NO reason to ‘feel funny’ when an officer is behind you & turns on his overhead lights. Police interactions can become complicated, but they’re actually pretty simple. You get what you give - meaning if you’re respectful, the officer will reciprocate. If you’re not respectful, things can escalate unfortunately.
Regardless of the various opinions around the country, I wish people would try to understand that police officers want to leave the interaction with a driver safely & go home at the end of his/her shift.
What you are asking for is right, Dak. I only wish you would encourage people to comply with the officers.
Too many cops and racist and racial profiling all the time!

To be honest as a white person, when I was still driving I was also uncomfortable when a police car was driving near me! I think it is natural to a degree! I taught my kids to have respect, be civil and respectful to all people regardless of what they do!

Dak is my favorite player. Love the guy. But he represents the same bias confirmation going on society wide. EVERYONE feels funny when a cop is behind them. EVERYONE feels nervous. EVERYONE feels out of sorts. And, almost EVERYONE, of any race, if they have lived long enough, can tell a story about a rude cop. There are also rude doctors, teachers, ... name a profession.
ok, yes, everyone is nervous when a cop is behind them, but black people and white people are nervous for two different reasons.
but when you're black or non-white the nervous level is double or more than for you white folks...
Sorry to break it to you Dak, but America doesn’t see you as a biracial person... It is what it is... But I respect how he’s trying to balance things with his family. If a white person calls the cops on him, they won’t say “I think he’s biracial”... They’ll call him a black man
Not everything is about race though. Yes theres racism but not everything is racial.

Can't listen to this fool playing the race card. Everyone that has ever driven a car feels funny or nervous when a cop is behind them. Was I speeding, was I swerving, is my taillight out, does he know that I have a dead body in the trunk. Ya know normal fears and reactions that we all have 😬
Right but are you nervous that you're gonna lose your life? There's levels to it.
@@karugakoinange128 It has nothing to do with race. It has everything to do with the person. Punks are punks. White, black, brown etc.
@@harryd747 Didn't really answer the question. I'm black. I've been pulled over twice and the fear that takes you over bc you've seen so many of your people wrongly gunned down is palpable. And if you don't want to take my word for it, it's a statistical fact that black people are more likely to be killed in a police encounter than whites. That's not conjecture or opinion sadly...Frankly, I wish things could be the way you perceive them to be (race not being a massive factor in these encounters), but unfortunately that's not the case for me and people that look like me. The system isn’t actively racist but black people came to the us as slaves, were oppressed for 450 years, that oppression ended in the black 1960s.
