Hi Ryan, hope you are well mate. I remember fishing with you several times some 15-20 years ago at the Haughton River. I used to bring customers or friends with me. Didn't know you had your own channel until now so have subscribed. I still have that great cast net I bought from you although it has as much repair on it as original net lol.

I find that a small snap swivel is a must if fishing a no 3 4 or 5 mepps inline spinner. Line twist after just a half day of casting is terrible. I have fished with it and without it. I catch they same amount of fish both ways. Therefore i use it.

Yes. Any inline spinner needs a swivel.

In my situation swivels are a must. Shallow water and strong current with strip or chuck baits in Westernport bay Vic. I also use a shock leader on every setup that has braid. A Minimum of 1 rod length for the shock leader attached to the main line with an FG Knot.

Aloha from Maui Hawaii,I dunk bait or live bait. I use 3way swivels and for my live bait I ziptie to hook through the eyes instead of hooking the bait

Great tips capt. Some time use both and also use the smallest swivel possible for the application and NEVER wind a swivel past the guides. Tight lines

The only situation i never used a swivel is while drifting baits in fast running streams with rocky bottom.
Other than that swivel is a must. In situation where a long leader needed (when using spreader), i even attached extra swivel half way of the leader. But always the ball bearing swivel for me...

Well done. I saw a swivel/sinker piece that had a keel to it. The sinker looked like an upside down shark fin in use, with swivel eyes on both ends. The fisherman who had it said it worked well to keep down line twist, while trolling large spinner lures. Your thoughts?

Yes I have seen them but never used them as it’s not really how I fish. We use bibbed lures to keep everything straight.

The only time I use swivels really, is when using inline spinners. Even the best of them will give line twist.
