My prayers are with her and your family. I had my daddy living with us for the last 3 years. Towards the end, he thought I was momma. But I could always bring him back to knowing me. We just lost him in November. I treasure every moment we had with him. God bless you all

You have such a strong faith Kevin - use it for a healing with your mom. Don't write her off as if it already happened. Pray, pray and pray. Jesus we come to you and ask for a healing for Kevin's mother and deliver her from the demon dementia. In Jesus' name, Amen.

I agree with you in that prayer. I to pray for her healing that her mind will be healed and she will give it all to you Lord. It says By his stripes we were healed. I come against this disease of dementia and I ask that she be made whole. In Jesus Mighty name. Amen

Young looking mom! Your parents are lucky to have you and your family. I live with my son, too, and have had some serious health issues where, if it weren't for him, I don't know where I would be. It's a real blessing to live with people who love and care for you as you get older and less able to do things for yourself. May God bless you and your family with every good thing.

I understand Keith. My mother was diagnosed at the age of 62 with Alzheimers. I was blessed to take care of her for 16 years. The day before she passed she had not talked where she could be understood in 8 years, she took both my hands in hers and as plain as day said I love you. God knew I needed to hear her say that one more time. Praying for your mother and your entire family for comfort and peace.

The property is nice,, a special place... On a positive note, my Mom had dementia and though she lost many memories and forgot much. Even my name.
Mom never forgot I was a special person to her, that loved her. Even after a stoke & she couldn't talk her eyes said it all. She knew who I was and squeezed my hand when I asked her if she knew me.
So be positive, patient & kind.
Your Mom will always love you & being near will help her & your dad also. 💜🕊

My husband was diagnosed with dementia in 2012. He still lives with me at home. He still recognizes immediate family, but not nieces and nephews. He has one friend that he remembers. He asks a million questions each day, but it’s mostly the same question each time. So, 11 years and still going, but declining more all the time. Good luck!

Yes I am Companion Caregiver for 93 year old early Dementia Diagnosis Lady. I just encourage her as much as I can. Her real challenge is she tunes people out easily distracted. Squirrel 🐿️. She loves Icy ice water to drink and strawberry Ice cream. I love her and like to talk her into movie day. We do chair exercises with Sharon. She even starts doing the walking ones. It's been 2 yrs. When she says Grace everyday ending with Thank You for I AM clothed and in my right mind in JESUS name. We don't medicate her. Shower M W F made bed puts her jammies up and picks out what she wants to wear everyday if it's the wrong season. We just let her know that.but if she wants to wear it. Too cold she has a warm blanket. If too hot there a stationary fan nearby. Everything goes in it's place. And who knows Maybe one of these days. She'll get up and and our prayer will be answered. She loves Everybody loves Raymond. But doesn't wear her hearing aids anymore except church. So they bought Bluetooth speaker headphones 🎧 and that way we can either mute it or put the volume to normal. So that has been a GOD Send. Imho Let your Mom do what she likes doing until it could hurt her. What my Boss daughters did was get her on healthy food microwave dinners. So now she expects meals made for her. She says she went from being fat to normal size. I wish I could get her to eat salads she doesn't do buns but she takes vitamins and Minerals. She like fresh mandarin oranges. 🍌 And blueberries 🫐 with strawberry ice cream. I like the Marie Callendars frozen food. Fresh eggs toast and fresh fruit for breakfast.

Also we don't do it. But I think it would help a patient or resident if they had a chore checklist to check off. At the end of the day she'd be excited she got this much done. ✔️

8( it sounds like I treat her as disabled. I hope not. I have learned that lil by lil she's not overwhelmed. She listens to one soap was a head nurse so she eats a meal in 5 min but if you set a timer 'Also some people say our diets or non diets bring brain 🧠 🌫️ fog. I happen to work for regular Christians so we pray and read WORD together. As a retired Nurse I know she's very intelligent but 🐿️ distracts her. Prayer You Mom will be totally healed completely on earth as it is in HEAVEN in JESUS BLOOD Covenant in JESUS name

This is so sad for me as her husband of 37 year's together but it's been a wonderful life together. The family will be always watching over my wife, she bring so much love into our lives everyday. I feel so blessed to have her as my life long friend . it's hard for me knowing what might come in the near future, knowing she might not know who i am. But I stay strong knowing God has a big plan and i must trust in him. it bring tear just thinking about it, so i must show her everyday just how much she mean to me as we go along this thing we call life. thank you for your kindness and support, it really means so much. Guessing you thought this was Kevin, I'm his Daddy. anyway till next time thank you.

My dad had dementia and passed away in 2004. He lived with my 2 kids and I for the last 5 years of his life ( minus 2 1/2 months before he passed). My mom had passed from cancer in 1984. We had great memories with him. He didn’t get agitated like a lot of dementia patients. We just made sure to look at the humor in the situations and not try to force him back to the present when he’d slip into his world. I found he didn’t become as frightened if we just went with it as long as it wasn’t going to hurt him. My kids and I have wonderful PaPa stories we share. He was a wonderful father, grandfather and friend.

My aunt and uncle lived on a plot of land, exactly as you described. They lived on the border of Arkansas and Oklahoma. I think Roland was the nearest town, and Fort Smith was the largest city in Arkansas. They're both buried in a cemetery, nearly 200 years old. It's in the middle of nowhere. It's so beautiful. I'm sorry to hear about your mother. My sister is a Music Therapist. She's discovered that music helped with recall of family members. I've worked with many people with cognitive decline. It seems they go to a time that's the happiest, less stressful, when they were the most needed, had a fulfilling purpose. The music helped them to remember the family members, at different ages. It was fascinating how their eyes began to sparkle. I saw that with Tony Curtis. He could barely carry on a conversation. His friend would begin to play piano and his eyes began to clear. He would run to the piano, talking clearly the entire way. He made friends with Lady Gaga at the time. They were making a concert, raising awareness to dimentia related diseases. Once the music started, away he went. The pianist played a certain song and Tony knew it was time to introduce another performer. He remembered who she was, despite never performing together. He also recognized her! I just thought you may want to try this with your Mom. ❤🙏❤

It’s such a beautiful property and home! You can see all the hard work and dedication love that has been put into it. My grandmother had Alzheimer’s which then turned into dementia. She was an alcoholic though. It was difficult caring for her as she grew more angry and mean in the things she said. But we were able to get her into a wonderful nursing home. It helped my mother so much to know she was being cared for while she worked. It was very hard for her to leave her there. I was grateful I asked the doctors at the ER on her last fall to help my mother get her into a skilled facility. It put us all at ease. I didn’t have to leave work to go rescue grandma from wandering and getting lost. She was safe. Your mother is so sweet. Take lots of videos and pictures. You will enjoy them all for years upon years to come! Have her start to record her life story in a specially made journal that asks 1-2 questions a day. It will be so helpful later on to spark memories for her that you all can talk about. My grandmother didn’t want to do that for my Mom sadly. She didn’t see the importance. May the Lord continue to Bless you all! Side note… those chickens are smart to go onto the porch while it rained! 😆

🤗🤗 I have been in your shoes I took care of my mom the last 13 years of her life with alzhemers. In my mom's case it was a blessing but a chore. My mom had gotten esophageal cancer. It kicked in before her diagnose of cancer. After my brother closer to in age away with lung cancer. It's had set in so much that 11 months later that she had no clue her first born past away in a fire. My heart goes out to your mom, your dad and your family. Millions of hugs to you all. Talk to the drs about the meds that help to slow the progression. My mom had a neurologist that put her on it and it also helped to keep seizures at bay as well.

having gone thru this same thing and did what you did by having my Mom move in with me after my dad passed. I know what you are going/gonna go thru. you are lucky that you have a wonderful support system for her, I didn't. just a sister who fought due to well you know if you know... it was bad. just remember to take time for yourself. if you don't also take care of yourself you can't help. I look back and although it was hard working and taking care of her by myself it was some of the most rewarding time of my life and I can say Thank GOD he was with me all the way. my prayers are with you and your family. it sounds like you already do but Cherish the time you have with her. .

Kevin, your tears brought me to tears. Sharing your personal story with the world took a lot of courage. Your Mom is a beautiful woman. Her smile so joyful, beautiful thick hair, such a lovely soul. Please take one day at a time. God has a plan for everyone. She was destined to be your Mom. There are meds that can slow the progression of her dementia and extend her life and memory. My prayers go out for your family, you and your Mom. God bless all of you for coming together as a loving and caring family. Not every family has that love and closeness. 🫂❤️🙏

I know what you are going through, my mom has Alzheimer's and Dementia and also lung cancer. She doesn't know about the cancer and I didn't let them do a biopsy because if the put her under anesthesia she may not have woke up from it. I had her on Hospice for about 6 months and she started doing better so I took her off, she is a DNR because I wouldn't want to see her fighting for her life or having machines keep her alive but the good Lord above is keeping her safe and I thank God every day. We live in Jonesborough Tennessee the oldest town in the state. God Bless you and your family and keep the faith and spend as much time as you can with your mom. Love to all of you.

My mother had dementia for years, it progressed into Alzheimer’s. My sister had cancer, died the year before my mom died but in those last years she thought I was my sister. Dementia/Alzheimers is a terrible disease. You are doing the right thing to have your mom closer to you during these years. It’s a very sad disease. Bless you, I know exactly how you feel and can sympathize in every way.

Letting go of a longtime family home is really hard to emotionally let go but I think you will find , while challenging at first will become very cherished times with each other. My grandfather got Alzheimers early onset and diabetes when he came to live with us around 1965 when I was 7 and lived with us until 1971. I helped to pack up the stuff he wanted to bring with him and what the rest of his family didnt want we had a sale. I still cherish all the times spent with him both as a family and one on one....btw that is a beautiful home! But you are trading things for a great life with each other and for many memories
