The time has come. Greg Koch is finally getting everyone's attention. A true master making the world a better place through music and humor. An amazing musical star. Thanks Greg 🖖
And he’s getting better! Which is just insane dude. I’ve exhaustively watched everything of Greg’s that I could find (I’m not crazy I was stuck in bed after a few surgeries on a bad broken leg) and while always being very talented he clearly evolved his gristle in the last decade to the beast he is now.
I’ve been covering it since I was 16, in the mid 90’s. The riffs for each part aren’t very difficult. It’s getting the vibe right(pun intended), and building it up, before going more wild and trippy with it, for the sounds of a war zone. I learned Machine Gun, Who Knows and Message of Love off the Band of Gypsys album, snd it blew the minds of much better players than I was. I got pretty good at improvising, and most players at my level, or even a bit beyond, just couldn’t do it as easily, or at all. Machine Gun is excellent to improvise to. Drums and bass follow the riff, or the guitarist can follow their changes.
I don't think I've ever heard this song seriously covered and rarely have I ever heard Hendrix covered this well. And the greatest part of it is that it's *not* - or maybe "not just" - a tribute... they're interpreting it ffs. Outstanding!
Greg is the only guy I’ve ever heard cover this song. If I did hear someone else cover it it wasn’t worth remembering I guess. That Hendrix set was insane!
@@bokononx4606 I'm talking this other version brother ruclips.net/video/e-7ORrv-88U/видео.htmlsi=prrc928W3pR_BaLT I've probably listened to this over 100 times
Thank you, Greg. Love this interpretation. Two years ago I heard you play, and your gristle tone caught my attention. Now is the time to get gritty. Modifying my guitar with the gristle tone.
Everyone goes n about the Fillmore East New Year "Machine -gun" and rightly so but the more I listen to the Isle of Wight version I think I like it "more" iykwim?. The I.O.W version is so scuzzy and wide open, even the spill over of the security walkie-talkies weaves into it like it's meant to be there, utterly spellbinding. Jimi was/is so monumentally gifted, boy we sure miss him!. Great version fellas, I dig it.
Ok ; this feels genuine enough… First, you got something that looks like a real attic room with shit & random stuff lying around : check. Then you got your sweat-pants long-haired drummer ; check. Add a one-finger-style transic bassman and to top it off : Marvelous Greg doing a fine rendition of Machine Gun with his usual versatility. Rock on!!! 🤘🏼
Greg, Gents, Jimi I’m sure would love hearing you play this iconic masterpiece, he’d have that big ole toothy grin and sparkle in his eyes, and simply say , ‘yeah, man, what I’m talking bout’
I do love Greg Koch’s excesses on guitar 🎸♥️. But heard through my iPad Pro and Beyer 880 Pro studio headphone, which emphasizes bass - the bass volume is indeed way too low and it is also - as a matter of fact - unfortunately a general experience of mine with Gristle from the Orange Room 😳. Turn up the bass 👍😊.
@@jhall6926 well it is very easy to compare the Gristle Orange Room with other professionally recorded live concerts on RUclips and here I do not experience the same lack of bass volume!

The more I watch I realize Greg is better than I thought and I always thought he was great.

he's so good I dunno if I love him or hate him haha. God he's good.
Boy Howdy!! That's how it's done, folks... Packo's on me next time. Get here! CHEERS!!
Excellent!
Incredible! You are my new favorite guitarist. I never heard anyone even attempt Jimi's Machine Gun before.
I’ve been covering it since I was 16, in the mid 90’s.

Easily the best cover of this tune I've ever heard. ❤

Dude wait till you find Greg's 2 live covers of this song
@terrapin323 I did hear the all-Hendrix set they did last fall... fantastic.

My favorite Band of Gypsies song. Greg & Co. conjure up my memories of hearing it for the first time. Spectacular.

Matt reminds me of C Cory Duplechin with Tab Benoit. Awesome expressive.
Held Al's hand at JimI Rock Hall night met Mitch , Darwin spent evening with Janie etc. Great tone!

Gristlemen channeling!
RANDY Hanson......is the man ...
Gotta agree, Randys playing, tone, vocals, and stage moves are the best
I had to get my premolars right up to the bone on this one.
Luvvly Jubbly ,Great playing on all counts Rkon ,
ARE YOU NOT ENTERTAINED?!? 🔥😛🔥

Is the bass player playing some sort of miniature Precision?
Gristacular
Greg always looks like he is playing a mini strat.
On many accounts, people whom.have seen him say he's taller then a redwood
Fantastic, turn the bass up a bit in the mix for me please 👆

I'm just trying to figure out how the heck they found a dude taller than Greg that plays an instrument.
Greg and his wife made him😅
Genetics
Greg you bring out all the bestialities of Jimi of a unique beauty your son on the drums is very explosive you are very good
Why are those guys playing child scale fenders? ❤
Amazing playing and the best version I have ever heard this song(after Jim of course😁) song which should make anyone pacifist...❤🙏.
More bass volume, !...
Bass level is fine if you use external speakers. doesnt come through so much on computer or phone speakers.

Greg’s amazing, I love how he communicates what he’s doing too. But I’m sorry I can’t with this cover….
An edge rusher, a nose tackle and a linebacker start a band.
Stop all stupid wars and weapons manufacturing countries. La Paz es el camino.
Wow, Best cover ever, super trio Greg. Tight
