    Hello again. Thank you for your new video showing the windoor slider full open, the underside of the rear door, and the measurements we needed.
    What is the manufacture date of your cap? It is on the "label" attached to the inside of the cap somewhere, in MM/YY format in tiny font.
    We found out at another local Leer dealer this weekend that the "fiberglass" type material that surrounds the cables, etc. on the inside lower edge of the cap rear door is being/has been replaced with very similarly designed piece made of smooth hard black plastic. We saw on the lot a new 100XR for a full size truck with the newer design. In my opinion, it is a significant improvement, especially for the full sized truck caps which have a wider (fore/aft) black glossy trim piece than the Tacoma cap has. I still need to confirm that this design change has actually been implemented on the Tacoma specific cap. Note: the glossy black trim piece on the outside lower edge of the cap door is still the same.
    Yes, you are right that the XL is the same as the XR except for the side windows and the rear door handle. So if one is opting for the windoors, it is better to order the XR. The handle on the XL can accomodate the keyless remote option. If you order/add the keyless remote to the XR, the handle is upgraded. Handle on the XR is called the "Leer Flip-lock handle", the one on the XL (and XQ) is called the Leer Twist Handle Lock w/ Flip-up weather cover". Rather confusing since both handles twist to open the rear door and both have a flip-up cover over the keyhole.
    T.D.

      No problem hope it was helpful.
      Manufacture date was 01/20. Okay yeah I would be interested to see what they change year over year. I will have to go into the dealer that sold me my shell and take a look at some of the new designs.
      Thanks again for watching and commenting. If you have any more questions come up let me know I like making straight forward videos like this.

    Any tips for sealing around the shell? I have the same shell on my 3rd gen long bed Tacoma and it leaks mostly from up near the cab but also might be near the middle of one of the bed sides! Got the truck used and the shells been in awhile from the previous owner, said it’s always leaked.

    Can you remove the screen on shell windows to completely have open
    Have dogs and want them to be able to have more access out of windows- thanks

    • @TrentMMoore
      @TrentMMoore  Год назад +1

      Yes you could remove the screen but probably not ideal. It wouldn’t be something you could easily put back in like a screen on a window in your house. You would essentially be pulling the screen completely out. You could probably make a magnetic screen so once you got to your location you could put a screen back on if needed.
      Thanks for watching hope this helps.

    Where did you get the wooden sleeping platform?
    Or did you make it yourself

    How dark is it to see through the back (like at night) since the truck rear window and the Leer rear window are both tinted? Thank you!

    • @TrentMMoore
      @TrentMMoore  3 года назад +1

      If you are looking from the outside in it is pretty difficult to see in. If you caught the light correctly coming through both windows you would see shadows of the object inside for sure. If you are in the back of the shell objects to me seem a lot more visible. I usually make some make shift curtains to block out light from the outside.

      @@TrentMMoore right on thanks for the advice. I actually was also wondering is it hard to see while driving (reversing changing lanes etc) due to the multiple window pains.
      Thanks again. I’m making the bed platform!

    • @TrentMMoore
      @TrentMMoore  3 года назад +1

      Oh yeah it is difficult to see through the back. The back window of my truck it really tinted so I can’t speak for a truck without tint. Reversing I have the camera so it’s not bad and I pretty much only reverse when parking. Changing lanes I got use to it really quick.
      Hope that answers your question better.
      If you have questions on the bed build let me know. If you haven’t seen my write up on my website it gives a little more detail if needed. You can always hit me up in the comments if needed.

    Lol you gave us 10 different measurements for the door but absolutely nothing for the inside... I wanted to know how much room there is from the bed floor to the shell ceiling at the highest point

    • @TrentMMoore
      @TrentMMoore  2 года назад +2

      Thanks for pointing that out. It is just over 2 ft (27 inches). I thought I included it at some point in the video, but obviously I did not. I had a write up on my website, it is currently getting revamped, I will post an update on this comment when I have the website back up.

      @@TrentMMoore That doesn't sound right. If the opening at the window is measuring 31". The measurement from the bed to the ceiling should be slightly greater; would guess 33-34". He (we) are looking for a measurement in the very center of the bed. Bed ridge to ceiling. I had read on another blog that it was roughly 36". Looking to buy this cap, but want to ensure it fits my Dogs Gunner Kennel (Large). Thank you Trent!
