    Great video! I was inspired to do something like this by your Overland Gear Storage video. Thanks for making it a bit easier by having all the measurements. Now I just have to wait another couple weeks for my canopy to arrive and I can get to work

      Awesome to hear. If you have any questions along the way hit me up on Twitter or the RUclips comments and I will do my best to help. Would love to see your build out once your done. I also did a write up on this with some additional details over on www.offroadodyssey.co . It might be a helpful resource for you. Thanks for watching!

    Thinking of doing so,thing similar but with center supports under the 2x6's. How thin of ply do you think I could get away with?

    • @TrentMMoore
      @TrentMMoore  3 года назад

      I wouldn’t go with any less than 1/2”. If you look up OSB thickness you can find charts of weight ratings. If you have a center support you can increase the weight rating.

    These boards are customized by carpenters? You just need to handover them the spec sheet

    What’s up brother. I love the video. I’m literally doing the exact same thing with my Tacoma. What did you use to make those little cuts on the 2X6s?

    • @TrentMMoore
      @TrentMMoore  3 года назад +1

      I used a miter saw it make the cut across the 6inch side and just to the depth specified in the video. I then made multiple cuts from that cross cut to the end of the wood using a jigsaw. Then I used a wood chisel to remove the pieces and clean it up. If you watch some wood working videos on how people do mortise and tenon woodworking it will make it more clear. Let me know if you need some further explanation I will edit my blog post on it to give visuals. Thanks for watching!

      @@TrentMMoore Thank you for that information! I’ve got the bed platform complete. Now I’m making the drawer. I’ve got the right wood and cuts. Did you screw them into one another in order to create the actual drawer?

    • @TrentMMoore
      @TrentMMoore  3 года назад

      Yeah I screwed all the pieces to each other. I started by making the outer frame of the drawer and screwed that together. Then I squared up the frame with the bottom and attached that. Lastly I added the sliders to the bottom and the bracing in the middle. If I was to do it again I would have put 1x1 blocks on the corner and where the edge of the outer frame and the bottom of the drawer meet. This would have given me a better surface to screw each piece.
      Hope that makes sense. Let me know if you need some more detailed information. I’ll try and do a write up on it.

    Is this a short bed or a long bed Tacoma?

    Thinking of doing something similar. Do the two 2x6s provide enough support?

    • @TrentMMoore
      @TrentMMoore  3 года назад +1

      I think so I have loaded 300+ 2x4’s on to the platform when I was building something and it held strong. Just look for a 2x6 with out knots and it will be stronger for you. Thanks for watching!
