Interesting fact: The theme for Skyrim's main theme "Dragonborn" and the song "Sovngarde" have the same lyrics. But Dragonborn would've been sung by the current generations of nords and warriors. Sovngarde would have been sung by the ancient heroes and old generations. This implies that Sovngarde contains the original melody and tempo, considering the fact that it was sung by those who originally made the song/prophecy. Just an interesting fact for anyone who wanted to know. :)

The Dragonborn can feel the Nord heroes in Sovngarde chanting for him. Calling him to come and end alduin's pillaging of Sovngarde and save Tamriel once and for all.
Well, I mean he isn’t gone once and for all as Akatosh is the one who absorbed him. So Alduin will return, but only when Akatosh and the others have decided that the world has waxed weary and feeble. This story was telling that the Gods were not yet done with this world, they still want it to live, the reason why Akatosh let us be born as Dovahkiin.

I want my death to come in a sword fight, on a night with rain pouring so hard you could almost swim, thunder booming, lightning flashing through the sky, and this music making up all the ambient sound, the only other noise to be heard, is the clashing of steel between me, and my opponent. As the death blow is done, as I fall to the ground, my entire life leading to the epic conclusion of a single moment, I will die with a smile, knowing I lived, fought, and died as a real man ... A true warrior.
Made it to Sovengarde for the first time yesterday. Spent a good 20 minutes enjoying how beautiful the place is and listening to the music. Only took 5 of those minutes for me to stand from my chair and shout "HOLY SHIT THAT'S SONG OF THE DRAGONBORN". Absolutely one of if not the best places I've ever been in any video game. The tone, the scenery, the music. Gold.
I know this is three years after your post, but I have to say: this is all very well and good, but how do you get BACK to Tamriel? Sovngarde is lovely, but I wouldn't want to stay there. :-D

I can't describe the feelings I had when I entered sovngarde with two swords in my hands, walking through the mist unsure of what lies in front and this masterpiece playing on the background.
I only recently got into Skyrim, thanks to me coming across the Celtic Woman version of the Dragonborn song and instantly falling in love with it. While exploring around on the Elder Scrolls Wikia website, I came across the translation page for the Dragonborn song and found out that this song was “the extended version” and I have yet to get to Sovngarde, much less even get the horn of Jurgen Windcaller! (I keep getting sidetracked by every other mission LOL) But now I’m excited to get to Sovngarde to hear this epic music! (And to be reunited with Kodlak Whitemane LOL. But I won’t be happy to see that traitor Ulfric. His actions go against my beliefs and values. In role playing games, I always make my character as close to my actual person as much as I possibly can, ESPECIALLY when it comes to personality and beliefs)

That moment when the I, the Khajiit Assassin, walks in on a hall full of Nord Warriors.
I'm pretty sure as soon as your a dovakin you become a half-Nord, cause most of the other dragonborns we're nords.
Talos-breton
Reman cyrodil-imperial
Saint Alessia the slave queen-nede
Mankar Camoran leader of the mythic dawn-not said but highly suggested-high elf
You are standing in line, among a legion of soldiers
In front of you are the Thalmor, outnumbering you ten to one
You are scared, hopeless
But then
You start to hear this song
It isn't sung in a language you know, but you know what they mean, you know it in your heart
Then, a figure walks in front of the lines from the back
Clad in dragonbone, with the mightiest great sword you have ever seen, enchanted beond the understanding of even the best battlemages
The singing gets louder
You are in a trance, as you begin singing, everyone does
The words do not only come from your mouth, but from your heart
The Dragonborn has come
That was the slowest walk I had in Sovngarde. I felt awesome listening to the chant. It was like they were welcoming me to Sovngarde.

saynomore485 No, this shouldn't be in the main menu, it would be less epic hearing it everytime. This should only be played in Sovngarde.
But where would the main menu song go?
Mods, son
This is a fantastic job for a video made only 3 months after the initial release! OMG - IF YOU REMADE THIS WITH 2021 instead of 2012 tech, OMG. LET me say, based on this ancient video, your skill is off the charts - and this comes from an Electrical Engineer who has had a passion for tech and visual for decades. Please, remake this video and I will watch the remake frequently. Of course, I'm subscribing - your talent on this one video alone, at such a primitive time, tells me you have some really awesome videos.
Aye, spoken like a true nord !
and then you wait out the annoyingly long load screen, and come back like 10 minutes earlier.

I stand with you, Battle Brother
may the gods bless you shield brother, will we meet in sovngarde!!
Gold.
For everyone who wants to return to sovngarde:
Type "^" , then " coc skuldafn01" and enter.
Your're welcome :)

I know this is three years after your post, but I have to say: this is all very well and good, but how do you get BACK to Tamriel? Sovngarde is lovely, but I wouldn't want to stay there. :-D
My spine has never been more tingled
The dragons attacking Windhelm was the best part of the vid
This is by far, the highest quality video I have ever seen featuring a soundtrack from Skyrim, thank you, exactly how I would imagine it myself. Keep up the amazing work, definitely getting my sub. Cheers.
Masterpiece
The linguistic and semantic capacities of this song, the beauty is perfectly measured and rhyming in English and Draconic is simply beautiful.
I want someone to play this at my funeral :p
We need a version of this sung with English vocals. It's already been done with the "main" version, now we need it for this one.
*Testosterone Levels: Through the roof*
I can't describe the feelings I had when I entered sovngarde with two swords in my hands, walking through the mist unsure of what lies in front and this masterpiece playing on the background.
When your such a Skyrim fan you understand Dovahzuul
I have become more powerful then any Jedi has ever dreamed of!
i wonder the reaction of the nords when they see a full ranged wood elf wearing the strongest heavy armor in the game and an enhanced dwarven crossbow
Easily the most Nordic sounding song on Skyrim.
And my absolute favorite track in the whole game.
can u just all ignore the debut and focus on how beautifully this video is made , really excelant work , i enjoyed every single moment of it :)
The name of the dragon language is Dovahzul (roughly translates to: dragon's tongue) no offense but I've learned it and I correct everyone

Ali Alizadeh according to Norse mythology, it is. At least, I believe it is Norse mythology in which Nord Mythology is loosely based off of.
it is. I went there.
as a new skyrim player in 2023 i was in awe of Souvengarde
I have a hard time playing as anything other than a bearded nord with a battleaxe when I play Skyrim.
I really love the background change and the movement in this, and i love how i can see the meaning to the words :)
This song should start playing when a dragon attacks Windhelm and firebolts are shooting everywhere
Acapella no less! Wonderful! It instills such a different mood that the theme song!
listen to this with 2x speed.
This is a really good song for preparing before battle
This song started playing at work. The first 10 seconds in I just smiled and said "sovngarde".
I will not go silent into the gentle night, I will rage, rage against the dying of the light.......
dying light reference? :P
I think so I don't know my brother made the comment
He said that it was not a reference
Interstellar..?
You used very beautiful views in your video, and the timelapse looks great! Then, it was good idea - to put in this video all 3 versions of text. Looks magnificent. I like this vid! Thank you!!!
How do you get the dragons to attack wind helm?
The mod is called Deadly dragons and the feature is called assault, you can have up to 4 dragons attack you at random times. But you can also summon the dragons via console commands.
In this case, I just called them up using console commands.
Fadestrider Yea just console command. The dragons are already evil so they attack anything.
Roger Soto All dragons are evil except Parthunax.
The end of all things Subtle and let's not forget Odahviing!
He swore his life to the dovahkiin, promising to never go evil and help the dovahkiin when needed!
Outstanding job with the dovahzul lyrics matching the English translation.
Dragonborn, Dragonborn by his honor is sworn
To keep evil forever at bay
And the fiercest foes rout when they hear triumph’s shout
Dragonborn your blessing we pray
Hearken now, son of snow, to an age long ago
And the tale, boldly told of THE ONE ☝️
Who kin is both wrym and the races of men
with the power to rival THE SUN
and the voice he did, Wield on that glorious field,
when great tamriel shuddered with war,
mighty thu’um like a blade, cuts through enemies all,
as the Dragonborn issues his roar
and the Scrolls have foretold of black wing of t he cold
that when brothers wage war come unfurled!
Alduin, bane of kings, ancient shadow unbound,
with a hunger to swallow the world!
but the day will arise when the dark dragon Lies,
will be silenced forever and then!
Fair Skyrim will be free from foul Alduin maw
Dragonborn be the savior of men
Dragonborn Dragonborn by his honor is sworn,
to keep evil forever at bay,
And the fiercest foes rout when they hear triumph’s shout
Dragonborn your blessing we pray!

@@plenkman NO I may hate the dark elves (as an argonian player) but that's to much
To me, it's the opening where you escape a Alduin's attack and you're own execution and when you walk across Sovngarde with this awesome theme playing that makes the main quest feel like the epic Nordic saga it is.
Nords are so much more epic then elves.
I went into that dungeon area on legendary only to be met by hordes of draugr scourges/deathlords and I'm just glad I had ethereal shout
"I don't know where we're going, but Sovngarde awaits."
