I woke up my husband one night “dripping crimson on the carpet” and he saw nothing but pure fear, desperation and pain in my eyes…………..I then went into a deep depression and he couldn’t help me. This may seem weird but this song found me during my darkest time. A girl I was with for 5 years left me for someone else and I just fell into a dark depression and drinking. I drank so much that I almost died. After having my system flushed and me coming back to the world, this song came across my suggested songs to listen to and I gave it a listen and it felt like he was talking to me through the song. I broke down crying after hearing the whole song.
The best way to come back from your situation is to set yourself some goals that will improve life for you as an individual. Hit that gym grind, find an activity you can use to expand your knowledge, and most important of all love yourself and accept that you aren't ever going to be perfect and that's ok. Mix of creed, alterbridge and pearl jam through this whole song to me This whole album, what a journey, what an emotional ride, lyrically, sound... truly my favorite album I've heard, here we are weeks later and I'm still listening to at least some mix of 4 songs (any and all) out of it daily. Vessel writes so beautifully, one of the few people that can express emotions in such a powerful way, and an incredible voice. The sound, every song is deliberate, every choice, from the animal sounds sprinkled in the title track, to the djent riffs, to te piano, to the trap like beats, to the screaming, the funk, the hip hop.... all done expertly and deliberately. My girlfriend has survived 8 attepts of sulcide so far after her 14 year old sister took her own life last summer (we're refugees from Ukraine, and it happens so that depression gets worse when there's war). I commented too soon, so I gotta redo. I really appreciate you being transparent about the subject matter and showing vulnerability on the internet where people can be so cruel. So much respect to you for showing such a real reaction and speaking about mental health issues such as depression, which sadly I had suffered from for a long time. I just fully wept, watching you wipe the tears from your eyes. This album has helped me in healing from the last year of my life, which I was convinced I wasn't strong enough to survive. I didn't want to exist. But I'm so glad that I do still exist. The dark has such long arms. I'm thankful that I pulled myself out of it. Unfortunately, the first time I heard this song… I was about 10 minutes away from work. I was almost late because I was in the parking lot trying to dry my eyes, and get the redness to go away. It was very evident I had been crying. I lost a really close friend to suicide years ago, that I could have prevented… and this song just shattered my heart.

The last few lines of this song never fail to get to me as it’s the exact same words I’ve said to my wife in the past as someone who has struggled with crippling depression and suicidal thoughts. Luckily she got the help she needed and is doing well, we pulled through it together. This song shows the side of depression and mental health from the side of the person on the other end of that depression.
I just had to take a friend to the hospital for self harm, and this song came up on my shuffle while I was trying to fall asleep that night and I had to leave the room and cry for a moment. It hits really hard for someone who’s both dealt with self harm and someone who’s lost people to something like this. I wish they could all hear this now, I miss them.
When I first listened to the whole album I cried so much all the way through (at work!) it was so cathartic. This song kills me every time and seeing men cry gets me in tears it doesn’t matter who you are! So thanks, crying at work again 😂 thank god I work alone. @@aclusterofstars I think a large part of why it's so difficult to listen to is because it's so straightforward. Sleep Token has such beautiful lyrics and Vessel is a master at crafting them. Generally, they're very poetic and use lots of allegories to get the story/message across, and if not, they're on parts of songs where the instrumentation either distracts or the vocals are mixed quite low compared to the instrumentation, so it's easier to miss them. But this song... even when the harder sound kicks in, the lyrics remain at the forefront of the mix. The lyrics are still beautiful, but they're for the most part very straight with what the song is about. Vessel pulls no punches with this one: this is a sensitive topic and isn't fun to talk about, but this song lays it al bare and offers no other choice than to listen. we can't ignore it, we can't miss it. Vessel's voice is SWIMMING with emotion and PLEADS with us to listen. while a gorgeous and powerful song, it's simply too intense to listen casually. you've gotta be prepped for it.
