Great job Archie! We were very happy to see the project you made using the container. Your videos certainly inspire many people! Can't wait for our kiln build webinar 🤩

I'm looking forward to learning how the boiler works - obviously the flue gases go up the flue, and presumably there's an air intake which then passes air over a heat exchanger to be blown into the kiln. So, not a boiler as such, as you're not boiling water to make steam.... this is my guess - could be wrong! I love the upside-down fire with jets of flammable gases being sucked through the embers. Looking forward to future instalments. Will subscribe.
Hi I don’t do softwood logs and it also depends how dry it goes in at but would say 4/5 day for green softwoods. Can up to 80 degrees max but tend to run it around 70
Is your heating unit a hot water boiler or is it a hot air unit . I've been thinking about doing the same thing and like you haven't seen any videos till you. Thanks
@@oakfarmfirewood And at the start of the batch? 60 deg or less? If the kiln is heated only by hot air, then what do you think of the idea of preheating in another stove which will feed the burner with heated air, which in turn will heat again giving super heated air?
Need to start batch off slow or you will case harden the logs. No point getting the kiln any hotter I don’t even run the burner at full temp most of the time. Airflow is more important than heat
@@oakfarmfirewood Thanks again for the feedback. I notice that you have vents at the door. Are they enough to expel the hot moist air? And is the fan that pushes air into the system powerful enough to distribute hot air throughout the kiln? And how hot would the air be exhausted out if you ran the burner at max? 100deg or less?

That wood heater has me interested. I subbed your channel. Going to go back through the kiln process and see how you built it.
Smart to dry out your boiler fuel.
Thank you for sharing Your project.
Great work. Nice planning and purpose to what you are doing.👍

You got it. Yes will do a full video once I’ve had a bit of time using it etc
Would been nice to see the rest of the install.
How do you get rid pf the condensation from moisture? Just the air flow fans and 2 vents?
Nice video. How long does it take to dry firewood ? pine and spruce. what temperatures do you have in the container?

Do you think i could run a container with a 40KW burner ?
Yes as long as it’s a insulated container speak to ATC containers
Great vids dude!

Hot air. I will be doing a full in depth video on the boiler soon. Just getting used to it etc
Need to show more details on the unit. The cold air return n the ductwork n what ever else involving the installation.
Will do! Watch this space
How long does wood have to stay in there to dry?
Depending if you are sharing the hot air with 2 kiln or the one buy 5-9 days. Plan to bring that down with a mod soon though
Hi again,
What temperatures does the kiln get to with the hot air blowing into it please? Can you get to 80 deg C?
Yes at the end of the batch when there is little humidity

@@oakfarmfirewood Thanks.
Hi, I’m looking to build my own kiln, do you have any contacts for the container and burner.
Many thanks Alistair
I got mine from ATC containers. Unsure if they have any at the moment.
@@oakfarmfirewood Great thank you, will give them a call.
Do have a thermostat to control the air temp? If so what are you running it at thanks
The boiler had its own control panel. So I can only regulate the temp of the boiler itself once it has left the ducting it’s out of my hands.
@@oakfarmfirewood gotcha hope it works out. Very interested to see more videos on its performance
Who makes the boiler?
Eco angus
I would love to know the model of the burner used
60kw eco angus
@@oakfarmfirewood thank you
You can store some IBC totes up on top of this container can't you
On the roof? Yes I could if I needed to
You call it a boiler, what is it boiling?
Yes true, it’s not boiling anything. But they are called hot air boilers
@@oakfarmfirewood Thanks for the reply, are they for sale in the USA ? What size is your 600 boiler ? I was thinking a 40 for me.
I don’t believe they sell them in the USA it’s a European brand. Yes it’s a 60kw burner
What’s the name of that boiler
Eco Angus
Hi where did you get the fans and the boiler from please?
Boiler from ember air and fans from duct store
Can u buy the unit in America or Europe
Europe yes but not sure about America sorry.
@@oakfarmfirewood What is you best guess in US dollars for a 40?
I’m honestly not sure. If you want to research eco angus for prices they are on the website
@@oakfarmfirewood Prices are not listed in US dollars. If I could get a good cross section drawing I would try building one.
I believe they are on the website
