I remember when we were complaining about F-5C tanking missiles back in the day, Su-25 has exceeded all levels in this matter lol.

Well, at least Su-25 is designed to have a high chance of surviving a hit from a manpad. F-5 feels more worthy of complaints as it is a very small unarmored fighter that has zero business being this survivable.

Well, A-10 real one can take more hits than SU-25 and if pilot is brave enough can be flown manually without hydraulics back in the 2003.

SU25 has twice the armor of the A10 and has quadplex distributed routing for its control surfaces (vs the duplex for A10). There was a SU25 in Afhanistan that got a telephone pole wento into its engine after the pilot flew low. The pilot did not even notince it before he returned to the airbase and had landed. There is video footage of this.
You cannot convince me that this isn't blatantly done because the A-10 is similarly armed up and reinforced and folds like a wet cracker when you launch a MANPAD at it most every time-
@ThyPeasantSlayer and a lot of those planes won't likely be flying again due to the damages likely being too extensive to repair or too costly in some cases for the airframe rework-
And also, what about AAM larger than manpadd that it can also usually tank once or twice?
And why can't the A-10 in-game survive simular when built similarly for armor and redundancy?

Not only does this thing tank almost every SAM I fire at it, but it also sometimes just makes my SANTAL not fire, at all. It's an incredible piece of aviation excellence.

literally takes one 20mm hit through the elevator, nothing is broken and it becomes uncontrollable
They modeled the controls correctly, but made them off the same hitbox completely undoing that.

The sight of seeing a plane you hit with an AAM missile head on, tanking it and coming at you with a fast firing twin barrel 30mm gun, is probably the most terrifying thing you can see.

I remember back when they first added the Russian planes. They had apparently outsourced the model development and there were incorrect values. You could literally slice multiple other planes in half with the wings of things like a chaika and keep flying. Impacts never seemed to damage more than orange.
IRL the SU25 has literally twice the armor of the A10 and has quadplex distributed routing for its control surfaces (vs the duplex for A10).
I've been grinding USA tree and am experiencing this like crazy. Hit two separate SU-25ks with missiles back to back and they were just critical hits. Go in for a gun run to finish them and set them on fire. I pull off and look back, they just put it out and keep on flying. It's pretty crazy how strong they are right now

Have only had one time where a stinger was able to 1 tap me in this thing, it is simply OP.
Right😭 I keep going up against these things in my lav. One tanked 2 rockets, and somehow came around a damn mountain to come back and kill me😂 Granted the stingers are ass, and have terrible lock range. I’ve had better luck 1 tapping air targs with the chadley’s lock on ability🤣

The Su 25 is the most op airplane in the game. I would argue even more than the Mig 29. I genuinely think it would be balanced at 10.7.

IRL some versions of this plane were made out of reinforced stalinium.
I don't mind it survivng a stinger to the face. There is real footage proving it can happen. It's just weird that the A-10 doesn't have the same survivability. And before anyone comes screeching "bias", the F-5 has been in the game for more than a year and still has the damage model of a tank.
@@stoyantodorov2133the real footage showed the missile didn't directly hit it and it managed to limp back to base. Not just shrug off 20 MANPADS directly in the face. And the F5C example doesn't really work when no jet (including the A-10 that's supposed to have near the same level of protection) has damage models this broken until this one Russian premium. There's also everything else going on with Russia that doesn't help this jet's case at all

I believe that the Su-25 and the A-10 are supposed to have similar levels of durability IRL, but in game…
The A-10 is made out of the servers structural integrity, while the Su-25 is made out of the imagined strength of the Russian armed forces

Last week in this plane I was hit by 4-5 SAMS in grb was still able to kill both of the people firing them and almost made it to runway. Su25 is busted and there’s a reason that it sounds like a tank name from ww2
"flying tank" - its design originally consisted of titanium alloys.
Even the tanks did not explode when hit by a projectile, due to the peculiarities of its design.

Also day 6: The tornado has CCRP so you can lob supersonic bombs at 20km and use the laser sight to spot targets easier from far away (honestly this one is a better idea for a video)

The fact that the A10 is somehow incredibly fragile, despite literally being designed to take SAMs and AAA, while the SU25 eats missile after missile after missile is one of the most baffling things about CAS in this game.
I think the su-25 is made out of russian suspension sprockets, same feeling when hitting it

Su-25 has 1,250lbs more titanium armor. Makes sense that it would be tanky considering it survived a S-125 hit in Chechnya.

8:35 That poor I-15. That poor thing never stood a chance against 35mm. Also, that was good on the Gepard for reacting so quickly. One thing I do wish is search radars, they are really good for situational awareness, I have been gunned/bombers countless times when engaging multiple aircraft in lower BRs were we rely only on eyesight.
14:48 so the F-104 is one of those planes where the airframe can't take the engines as well but the wings are so small they just never rip and either you die, your enemy dies, or nothing happens as you sail past the target you missed at mach 2.98 closure rate.

I’ve been playing the Type 93 a lot recently and holy cow the Su-25 is so unfair, the ONLY time i one shot them is a pilot snipe. never a fatal fire, never a wing or tail snaps off, it’s ridiculous. i’ve had some of them even take 4 entire missiles before dying. the control surfaces are unbelievably strong especially compared to the A-10’s control surfaces that break if you hit them with a rock.

Same here....I've grinded through the American tree in Naval (every ship), Air (up to the last tier) and Ground (up to Tier 4) I'm a Level 100 Marshall w/ 14 Medals....took 6yrs+ and $150+....my in game name is the same as it is here.

I cant believe you released this video. Literally just last game I shot 5 missiles with 100% hit rate and still didnt down the SU-25.
I don't think it's only the SU-25. I think the stingers are underpowered as well IMO. Fragments literally shower an enemy aircraft "Yellow panels" like bro.
I launched 2 of the best stingers at an su25k and it only took his flaps off on both hits
I bought the SU about 3 months ago. Love it! I have taken 3 hits before and was able to land back at base to rearm. Its a fun unit to play.

its like that game i had with my British SARC, i was shooting a SU-122 on its sides, I saw an explosion because i hit its ammo, i set it on fire twice, but in the end i got killed by their teammate because i didnt killed it... to add salt to the wound, that TD survived the battle... so much rage that time.

Was it this plane or the other one, if you go to the "Protection Analysis" screen , you can't damage the engines with any projectile? It's another "Russian T-54 special" with hidden armor.
Sukhoi testing actually did include lobbing warheads into a running engine.

That’s was a rumour or a lie. No confirmed gepard plane kill yet in this conflict. Gepards deployed far away from su-25s combat zone. Plus russian strike planes doesn’t crossing “the line” since early summer of 2022 because of manpads.

The reason why the Su-25 has such survivability is the armor bug. For example, helicopters such as the Ec-665 Tiger can eat 10+ igla or stinger missiles if they hit an armored part. That is, if you catch missiles with the nose of a helicopter, then it is invulnerable. This also works with the Mi-28. All aircraft that have armor is broken.

For those who don't know much about how survivable the su-25 is (dunno much about the A-10 tho, other than the friendly fire accidents)
I did hear in a documentary about the plane's making
it was required to withstand .50 cal and shrug it off like nothing
and for engines to always work as long as the airframe is fine
so after the plane was made
it had full protection from .50 cal
and the 1 of the engines got a 20mm titanium plating (if 1 goes down fine, if 2 go down, why armor the 2nd engine)
So, why would this stop a missile, because a missile doesn't explode on the plane
it explodes near the plane, and the fragments from the explosion might very well not be that lethal to take it down
In WW2, most countries changed to 20mm cannons at minimum because armor had evolved to the point where it could stop .50's. It would make total sense, then, a plane developed in the 70's would easily shrug off .50's. However, it does not make sense to stop direct hits from missiles, which are obviously far larger and much faster than a .50 caliber bullet, not to mention the explosive agent in the warhead of the missile. That's exactly what you see in the video. The missiles are hitting directly, yet it's like the plane was strafed by a P-51 or something.
