I think you are forgetting the elephant in the room. If the Browns cut Watson, they have to eat around $120M in dead cap, with no cap savings at all. The Browns are floating around at $48.8M under in cap space, and cutting Watson will put them over the cap, meaning they have to shed talent like crazy next year to stay under the cap. So it's a no-win situation either way.

The Cleveland Browns are sure to undergo a 'Scorched Earth' rebuild after the season. Fire HC Kevin Stefanski, fire GM Andrew Berry, trade as many of their star/young players as they can to claim draft capital and, at the very least try, figure out something they can do with the mammoth contract they gave Deshaun Watson in a way that can help give them more cap space for 2025 and beyond.

The only difference is Ben was still good at playing QB and didn’t start declining until years after the fact. Watson isn’t and has been terrible since his first game as a Brown.
Hell, just him being on the Browns might have something to do with it, too. This kind of situation could only happen to them😂
