As someone who works at Walgreens, I can't help but lose it every time I see those cooler doors and go "ooooh how nice" and then open it to find the disaster lurking inside
The constant opening and closing of the doors looking for items that are not there (because they are out of stock) is going to cost consumers more money because it is going to cost the retailer more money in "cooling" energy. This is a very stupid idea
The screens should update with stock quantity inside. Should have sensors and/or a camera inside to detect quantity. Whoever made this tech needs to revise it.
They are terrible. The pic will say something is in stock, open the door and it’s not. And just the opposite is also true. Also, what genius thought to put Mt Dew on the bottom row? The items don’t slide forward when one is removed. You practically have to get on the floor to reach back there to get a Mt Dew.

This is so cool!!!… I like this they don’t have these here in our small town of Lancaster sc but I bet they will have them or already got them in charlotte n.c ….. because people I’ve talked to say they got them in Chicago, Texas and Florida the major cities
What everyone says about electricity and it’s costs is completely irrelevant the amount of money they will make through advertisements and consumer patterns data will leave them with a profit overall
So Walgreens has made some terrible business decisions. Their pharmacy sucks. They are blaming closing stores on theft when they throw away brand new items or returned items into a locked bin outside and crush it all instead of just donating it. Then they invest in these screen things that are easily broken and make absolutely no sense to me. When a teenage pharmacy "Checkout" lady takes 20 mins to fill Tylonal, but you're more interested in installing these stupid digital screens, hire a security guard at the front like Ross has. Rite Aid is so much better anyway; Thrifty's Ice Cream is classic! Too bad Rite Aids tend to stay in richer areas.
As a marketer, i see why the company has made the decision - to basically get to the face recognition tech, know all about your habits and life more than your close ones know about you. Plus the store will get revenue from brands to put some ads on. But as a regular joe, please abandon this thing, the eyes, customer annoyance, electricity and just very depressive atmosphere when i look at this. And the literal stalking
