- I have been asked my opinion about whether I like Yankee Candle more or Bath & Body Works' candles more. I decided to put my thoughts into a video. Sorry it is 25 minutes long, I just got on my soap box ya know! ;)

I don’t know if this review was honest. Yankee candles is penny wise pound foolish. Cheaper snd plenty but no throw. I’m not burning candles for the light but the fragrance. Duh!
I will say this. I prefer Bath and Body Works in general. For one, the three wicks allow the candle to have an even burn. Also, it creates a larger pool of wax. Which is what releases the fragrance. I've gotten some Yankee candles and they've only really made one room smell. With Bath and Body, one candle seems to fill up the entire floor with the fragrance. Also, I've gotten some really awesome coupons from BBW. Everytime I'm there I update my coupon information and I noticed the more you do it, the better coupons you get. In fact, just yesterday I got myself a free 3 wick candle with the purchase of a small hand sanitizer.
That's just my humble opinion though.
Just my thoughts, but Bath & Body has been expanding because they are so good! This video was made back in 2015 and since then Yankee Candles have really slipped in the quality of their scent, IMO. Even if you can smell the scent after lighting, the throw is not strong at all. YC must have stopped making the housewarmer line years ago. It was great, scented the whole downstairs but they must have discontinued them quite a while ago. Another else have any thoughts on this? When I asked a sales associate about the housewarmers, she didn't even know what I was talking about.
A wall of candles...this is my dream. I just burn them too quickly!
I bought 2 Yankee candles & 4 of the tart melts. Cannot smell a single one of them after being lit. Walmart candles are better quality than yankee.. That's sad. I'll be sticking To the never disappointing bath and body works candles!
I like Better Homes Walmart Candles but some of em cause my allergies to mess up & some seem like cheaply ingredients. The throw is great though

Next time, please include yourself... just staring at the candles and not having someone their to pull my focus made my mind wander and I honestly missed a lot of what you said and had to keep rewinding... kind of annoying... but you did make good points in your video :)
+Ciara Ferguson I mentioned in the video that I get side tracked if I'm on camera because I worry did I make a dumb face or am I looking into the lens enough. I'm not really an introvert or anything I guess I'm just self-conscious. I know how the internet can be so I guess it's easier for me to talk like I'm talking to a friend. 😕

I honestly prefer Bath and Body and I know that Yankee candles burn longer and last longer but you CANNOT hardly smell anything unless your nose is over the candle lol... But with Bath and Body the whole apartment smells delicious.
Yankee Candles don't throw so you are buying an unscented candle.

Thank you for sharing your thoughts. I've been trying to figure out how there are such opposing opinions. Every one has their preferences but it's surprising to watch videos of people who think the same candle can have a throw of 2/10 and others find it to be 8/10.

Just bought Campfire Treat and Cotton Candy for the first time and have yet to burn them! A Yankee employee went to the outlet and bought Sweet Strawberry, Dreamy Summer Nights, Pink Carnation, and Blue Paradise at $12 each. Those were on hold for me at the store and only spent $48 for them. Blue Paradise was really exciting to get; it's the outlet version of Ocean Star. I'm trying to get into outlet candles like Balsam & Cedarwood, Creamy White Chocolate, Sparkling Pink, Evergreen Frost and Peppermint & Tonka Bean. Bought three Yankee Simply Home candles! They are Sage & Sea Salt, Oceanside Orchid, Sun Kissed Leaves.
Yankee Candle has let their quality go downhill. I have spent a lot of money on Yankee Candles that have no throw. Bath & Body and Better Homes & Gardens candles are so much better!
You can always exchange a yankee candle for a different scent of the same size, even if you don't have a receipt and have already burned the candle you ended up not liking. I've done it about 3 times before - once because the scent ending up being terrible (had purchased online without smelling beforehand) and twice because the candles didn't throw.
BH&G candles are wonderful, smell great and are $5.97 for a large jar at Walmart. Great scents too.
I bought some Yankee candles and I was sad because I could not smell anything now my bbw I got on sale for 10$! and it was awesome!!! I could smell it right away
I prefer Yankee candles & totally agree with you that they're not a good value if they don't have a good throw. I recently became a huge fan of the Scenterpiece meltcups. They have a very strong scent that lasts & at $5/cup don't make a big dent in my budget. I also burned so many candles I didn't know where to go with all with all those jars!! Plastic is so much easier to recycle. I love your neat rows of candles like your own personal store!!
I agree with almost everything you said, but Yankee candles are not throw is awful idk what the hell is happening..

OMG!!! I cannot afford more than one large jar haha, lucky lady glad you did this video! I don't know how much they are over there in the U.S but the large jar Yankee Candle's are equivalent to $34 each at the current exchange rate of pounds to dollars xx

Hi Stephanie! I have about 20 BBW candles I've collected this year, and I burn them daily in the kitchen, family room, and master bedroom. However, I'm not sure I'll EVER get thru them all!! I burn them 3-4 hours average. Will your collection "expire" and lose their potency? Will you ever get thru them all? Don't you want all the newest ones that come out and then push the older ones to the back, making them less likely to ever make it to your house to burn? I'm so curious..... I have to FIGHT myself to NOT order more online than I can burn because I know the next one that comes out I'm gonna want! I have 8 "fall" now, and I'm hoping to get thru them all so I can get to my winter candles I've already stacked up (the Winter is my FAV!!) Any thoughts/advice?? Just last night, I saw Feast, Welcome, etc for fall, and I've already got too many fall to burn!! :(

Here’s what I do now; instead of burn one start to finish four hours at a time, then another, i burn several at once all day long. For instance I start my day with Paris cafe or whipped coffee, switch to an afternoon scent, switch to a restful evening scent later etc.
In my city, all of the malls where there is a Yankee Candle store, there is a Bath and Body works store For example, if you went to a mall and there was a Yankee Candle store there, it's a guarantee that there's a Bath and Body Works store at that mall too. It;s kinda funny, actually.
I believe it was 2006 when they introduced slakin candles. I live in Columbus so I might get kicked out of town for not knowing!! Lol. Beautiful collection and nice information.
I’ve tried Yankee candle multiple time over the years but I swear I can never smell the candles lol they have ZERO THROW. Bath and Body on the other hand is always a guarantee to fill my house with a strong scent.
Great to see you back! I think you made some great points about each company.the repackaging does get old. I would love to see a video of your bath & body care collection. Do you think candles have a shelf life ? I've noticed it with some tarts I have 😞 seem to loose the fragrance .
Elizabeth Jesenko As far as I know they don't, I've never had any issues. Tarts are made differently so it could be possible they may break down over time. It could be that they are stored in plastic wrap and it may aid in issues. That may be something you could email cooperate about. Hopefully they would be honest about it. Wish I could help more but it's hard to say.

I need Yankee to be on a buy 2 get 2 free for me to buy them but I do splurge for the Sage & Citrus. I kinda like BBW repackage on certain scents so if I like it I can repurchase it (currently looking for a repackage of Heirloom Pumpkin)

I’m a Yankee girl but, have bought B&BW candles off and on, my only issue the B&BW is they burn too hot, they are very strong, but if you suffer with migraines, forget it, way too strong. But on the good side, if you like a strong candle and and don’t mind how fast they burn, they are the perfect candle. I have branched out Goose Creek, Swan Creek, 1803, ROOT and next on my radar is Witch City Wicks. I like your collection, way more then I have.

I wish that Bath and body works could open in Sweden. love all their candles tho now I just stickwith Yankee candles they work but still like bath and body works better.
I have a really large space to fill, so the Yankee Candle scent throws are typically not strong enough. I like the throws from BBW better, but yikes they are so expensive! Could you suggest some Yankee Candles that have strong throws?

+Katherine Thompson I agree!! I ADORE BBW candles, but I ALWAYS get them 2 for $24 AND use the 20% off coupon. They are about $9.50'ish each that way. Totally worth it!! Bought a ton last weekend online at that price when they were on sale. I NEVER buy them full price, OR when they are buy two get one free. Nope, I wait until they are 2 for $24, and use coupon! I am NOT a fan of Yankee
+debi powell Same here.. I Just don't have the money to spend 25$ on a candle. I love them.. but man, I have so many other things that I need to use my income on. I usually buy 4-6 a year when they hit the two for 24$ but I have to go early because they lose all the good ones. Love the marshmallow fireside, black-tie.
+Katherine Thompson Sweet apple is amazing and so is pink honeysuckle. Sometimes I just take the lids off the jars and they instantly fill the room
I also want to add that we use essential oils in some and fragrance oils in others and our scent throw is amazing. I used to buy and love Yankee candles but they have declined. Thats why we started Common Scentz. If any of you would like to chec us out on FB is Common Scentz Get Some.

Hey. They’re from IKEA. The bookcase is called BILLY and the glass doors are called OXBERG. They sell them separately so if you wanted just a bookcase without doors. Thanks!

What a beautiful collection!! In my opinion, while Yankee has a wider variety of scents, they are too pungent, and don't burn as well as Bath & Body Works.
Hi there, loved your video, can I just ask you, I was going to buy some Yankee Swirls from the US, I have noticed that they look uneven and even some drops of wax, on the inside of the Jar, only small, but not very neat finish. Is this normal in the Us,as others I have seen dont seem to have this. Also, can you tell me a really strong Christmas Scent, I like it stinking lol, I love Black Coconut, some something as strong as that. Thank you so much, Barb UK xx

ultimately for me yankees candle variety for just wins me over all the time. bbw just cannot even begin to compete with the variety yankee offers....plus their candles last forever!

Like your collection However, I have wasted a lot of money on Yankee Candle because none of them have a great throw at all. I have tried many scents so to me the only thing you are paying for is the name and that is not good enough reason for me to spend my money on.Also BBW just had a 8.50 sale and they had both Christmas and regular scents you can purchase for all year around and they also had their coupons for 10.00 off 30 and 20% off total order. I hate to say but even Target candles burn better and have a much better throw than Yankee Candle.

Don't the 3 wicks get really hot and do they burn faster than 1 or 2 wick candles?
It’s kind of a mixture of things. What type of wick it is, the type of wax it is. B&BW uses vegetable wax which burns quicker, 3 wicks mostly help to burn evenly, though doesn’t always work. I don’t really know that it’s necessarily burning hotter, but that may be a factor of its burn time as well.
I rarely smell a candle from Yankee that throws strong!! Pricey!! Weak and to expensive

I see what you are saying about the bath and body works candles, but they don't make them. A company named white barn candles. And B&BWs started in 1990.
Tara Newsome you’re half correct about who makes them. They have used different avenues over the years but white barn is the main maker. They did for a while though make their own brand per their own company of B&BW excluding white barn.

I have never returned a candle, but I disagree that BBW has the "100% satisfaction guarantee" they list on their candle. Given their changes in policy of late, they really should eliminate that statement. In my opinion, the pricing on the candles in both stores is silly because - like you - I have never bought a candle at the labeled price. In fact, I've never paid more than 50% of the labeled price. However, I do agree that Yankee is better value for the money. Personally, I tend to enjoy more of BBW's scents than Yankee, but I'm over all the repackages myself and have begun to explore other options, including colonial candle and light my soy. Overall, there's room in the market for both companies, and I 100% agree with your comparison. Thanks for the interesting video.
Zippity I actually forgot all about B&BW changing their policy! The only time I have ever swapped a candle, maybe a couple of times ever, is I wanted one scent that was currently sold out so I bought a random one to swap later, but never burned or anything. I've never tried to return one that was messed up. That's why I am so balanced on who I like better. They both have good and bad qualities. I haven't shopped for candles at B&BW lately purely because it's the exact same stuff and none that I really want.
