I have to actually give you credit for actually helping me understand why I needed to do the sketches, the fact that I can move things around and make the composition better and if I do it in the sketches, it’s much easier than actually looking at the painting and going what’s wrong with this? I need to change something, so truly thank you
Such a helpful video on trees with 'GREEN FOLIAGE'! Seems these tutorials are harder to locate. TY so much for making, painting, filming, editing, uploading, and above all - Sharing. Great Outcome!
I’ve seen all landscape paintings in RUclips are all amazing but I always think of my work is too messy because I’m self taught, and it seems every time I painted a landscape, not turn out as I imagine it would be, so anyone out there would be so kind and give me some advice how to get better like all of your guys out there. Thank you 🙏 god bless
Thank you sir for detail tutoring. I have been seeing many videos of other artists but you are the only one who show detail process of your painting. Thank you for teaching.
You're the 1st person I have seen using a dagger brush. Often wondered how to use them. Will have to look into getting one next time I order brushes in.
Yeah, dagger brushes are very useful, great for painting rocks and clouds too. Have you checked out Andrew Tischler’s channel, he uses them all the time 😊
Loved it! I really appreciated that you went through the composition and often told of the color changes. I would only suggest closer up sometimes when doing the finer leaves etc. Not sure if it was me but parts were blurry. Exceptional tutorial Thank you!
Thank you so much for this video! I really appreciate your taking the time to do these. What I appreciate most is that you not only show us how you create your painting, but you also explain WHY you are doing the things you are doing on the canvas. It's so helpful!
Excellent video. Not just the quality of the painting, but you clearly described what colours you were using, and WHY you would mix particular colours. It was very helpful , thanks.
Extremely clear instruction and beautiful painting as well. In this and prior tutorials the way you constantly repeat stating your color mixtures is very helpful. The repetition really reinforces the lesson. Thanks.
Beautiful painting, Sam! You are the very first youtube painter where I actually interrupt the video and take notes. Just from watching two of your videos, I've got a long list of gems already which I can't wait to implement in my painting. I've been stuck on a plateau for years, but now I'm ready for the next level. Thanks buddy, I'm definitely coming back. Keep up the good work!!! ☺
I agree with Andrew awesome painting. I really love how you captured the shadows cast from the poplar and sycamore onto the dirt path, outstanding Sam!
Hi Sam. Thanks for demonstion on mixing paints you have inspired me. I'm now starting to use alkyd paints. I've always used oil for the last 30 years Ray laye South Wales.
Sam a there are so many tutors on video but some time ago i decided to select yours and try to stick to it, clear style and fine voice, i use your advice and the product names when buying, i really enjoyd your edgar paintong with the little three horses, ,how about another out west video, starting with the one next to the first one? Clouds are my favuorite and like paintong these type scenes on model railroading back scenes in nev. Utah and wyo. On the union pacific,, although i live in south africa which also has some spectacular karoo vicstas, tjanks, best wishes
Thanks, Sam! I am trying to get into landscapes atm. I’ve always painted portraits, so it’s slightly intimidating! You make it look easy lol, and I can’t wait to watch more. On a side note, your hair looks lovely at this length.
Thanks Kevin, just keep practicing, it's all about brush mileage. You should see what I was painting 10 years ago, I never imagined back then I'd be at the standard I am now and I still think I have a long way to go. Sometimes you need some help along the way, in my case I was lucky to meet Andrew Tischler a few years ago and he mentored me and helped me with my painting. This RUclips channel is my way of giving back for all the people that have helped me. 🙂
@@SamuelEarpArtist this is the reason I think you are fantastic...along with being a darn good painter and teacher. You and tischler are my oil heroes. Brush mileage is a new standard for me to live by as I have come to painting later and want to go a long way before the end of the road. Thanks for your giving spirit. I would love to paint with you sometime ....shout out if you ever get to WI
Thank you Samuel for the wonderful explanations of your process. Your work is stunning and you are able to capture light so perfectly! Subscribed to you today!
This is EXACTLY what I needed!! Thank you so so much!! I actually have to sit down and take lots of notes about the color mixtures as I have 2 commissions that include mountains/foliage. They are a challenge for me as I usually do pet portraits. Thank you thank you thank you!!
Hi Sam - I just discovered your painting videos via Pinterest... Great videos! It’s so very helpful to hear what’s on your palette and in particular what you use to achieve certain colors. I love your paintings and your style!
Thanks Christine, glad you enjoyed the video. I have a little bit more free time and video footage for more painting videos so I'll crack on with editing them and getting them uploaded as soon as possible.
One of the best instructional videos I have ever watched on painting. You explain the fiddly bits, where others suddenly fast-forward and I am left wondering how a certain area was painted. Your colour explanations are perfect, really informative, and most important of all - you allowed us to follow through with you to the end :) . I get frustrated sometimes when others do a plein air painting, then show us a fully completed artwork at the end that has been finished in the studio...and I don't know how they arrived at the finished piece. Absolutely fantastic, going to check out your links above :)
Thanks Golden_reds, glad you enjoyed the video. I'm going to be making videos about plein air painting too as the techniques and colour mixing can be applied to studio painting, in fact I find that plein air painting has really helped me to improve my studio work. 🙂
Thanks Aman, sorry it took so long for me to get this video out, I'm also still a newbie at video making so sorry that a couple of the closeup shots were a bit blurry. The next videos will be better and I'll get on with editing the next video (I have video footage for several videos)!
