Ascona is a municipality in the district of Locarno in the canton of Ticino in Switzerland.
The former fishing village and later spa town lies on the north shore of Lake Maggiore. Neighboring municipalities are Locarno, Losone, Ronco sopra Ascona, Brissago and Centovalli. Ascona is the lowest village in Switzerland, as the village center is located directly on the lake.
Ascona has a picturesque lakeside promenade dating back to the 13th century.
The town is a popular tourist destination, and holds yearly the Ascona Jazz Festival.
