thanks playa helped me out! still gonna go through it all but for a quick start this is badass! thanks
Of course I also got a short let video I uploaded a few weeks back. That’s more direct and straight to the point

Use an XLR-TRS cable to bypass the interface's preamp. Thats why you had to set the gain to zero.
Yup had already done that but didn’t post it but thanks for the tip!
Hey man I have an ART PRO Channel II preamp/EQ/Compressor and I want to run it through my 2i2 from Scarlett. What cable would I need and which spots should I plug them into?
So you’re saying you have 1 preamp or 3 individual outboards?
@@ururozu 1 preamp that has an EQ and Compressor built in. It’s the Art Pro Channel II and I’d like to hook it up to my 2i2
@@Jordansparte ah okay, it will be the same type of connections I used here. Do you have an IG? I can show you the cables via DM?
needed this vid thanks bro
Of course, gonna record a small updated version once I’m settled in a new studio

My guy🙏🏼🙏🏼 only decent vid I could find on setup
I got you, let me know if you need any more info/vids on anything
@@ururozu yo so I hooked everything up same as you did but I’m not getting any signal from my mic. My xlrs should all b working they’re basically brand new. Any ideas ?
I know it may sound dumb but make sure you have the 48v switch On. It may be off lol and also check that you're switch is set to "MIC" not "LINE" lmk if it helps bro
@@ururozu I’ll try it in a few and let ya know bro. Appreciate you fam 🙏🏼
Did it work for you?
Buen video. Explicaste todo, en poco tiempo y útil hasta para un niño de primaria. Felicidades, nuevo suscriptor

How would I go about adding a compressor or effects unit to this focusrite ? Thanks so much man
You can check out the newest videos I have on creating and adding a comp to the vocal chain. But long story short
You need a 1/4in to 1/4in and connect mic pin input to output from your preamp and to the focusrite or any Interface
Hello! Do you know how I can connect two preamps to one interface? I already have one that works very well but I want to get another one that has a door and integrated de-eesser. I need it, search but can't find any information online, I really appreciate your help
Yea I can help! But let me know what interface you have and the two preamps you want to connect and I’ll tell you how
If the volume is turned all the way down on the input channel then how do you record vocals?
Volume should be turned down on the Audio Interface because the pre amp is boosting your audio already and if you have the audio interface turned up you’ll get clipping and distortion. There’s a more technical way to say this but this is my understanding and it’s worked for me haha
Hopefully this helps if not I can go more in depth
When you use an XLR cable with an 18i20 it sends it to the preamp. You have to use a TRS or TS 1/4 inch cable to send it as line level
Yup! I got an updated video that is corrected!

Hello! I want to buy an Presonus Studio Channel for my Audient id4. Do u think i need an di boxes to don't damage the audio interface? Or i can pass directly to the Pressonus into Mic/Line ?
So with the presonus studio channel that I’ve seen, you can pass directly thru it. Just make sure you can turn off mic preamp in your Audio interface and also have no gain on your audio interface. I can get back to you later on if you need more help
@@ururozu Ok sir! Thanks a lot!

Pro MPA-II OR Warm Audio // TB12 Tone Beast for Vocals?
Interface: Audient id14
Mic: SE Gemini II
Which AMP would be better for this setup Vocals only?
Both are great PreAmps for under 1000 but right now on Sweetwater they have the WA Tb12 on sale! I heard that pre amp has a lot of coloration with vocals and instruments with just a few switches
Personally the TB12 sounds more appealing but I’d also recommend hearing a few test on RUclips and see if you’re a fan of the “sound” they both provide
Updated video and I got the WA2A ruclips.net/video/XUCx__tAURE/видео.htmlsi=beUJdexpREfd9-MK
I have two focusrite interfaces both have 8 mic channels each. I’m using almost all of them, I have. 15 mics recording. If I get a mic preamp and run the interface into through TRS that one mic preamp will work all of the mics or? I’m a noob. Thanks
NM I see they’re only for one to two mics depending on how many inputs the mic preamp has. So to do a whole drum kit I’d have to spend a ton. So many just for overheads and then use for vocals also.
You can probably find a way to have one “mic” run thru all of them
Updated video! ruclips.net/video/XUCx__tAURE/видео.htmlsi=beUJdexpREfd9-MK
Great video. Does it matter what interface you are using and preamp? I have a presonus interface and would like to hook up the same preamp hat you’re using in this video. Will that work?
Yea most definitely will work! You will love the way it sounds trust me
@@ururozu thanks so much!!
No problem!
You would just get the mic/line of the audio interface into the line of the pre amp and the mic line into the microphone and control the signal from the pre amp and monitor it on your daw
Updated video ruclips.net/video/XUCx__tAURE/видео.htmlsi=beUJdexpREfd9-MK
Its better to invest the most on a pre amp or the audio interface ?
If you can, both? If you have a budget maybe pair up 1 and 1
Updated video! ruclips.net/video/XUCx__tAURE/видео.htmlsi=beUJdexpREfd9-MK
Are your monitors plugged directly in the Scarlett
Yes they are

You’re the goat for this, I have a focusrite Safire pro 40 and couldn’t quite get it right. Question, if I’m running outboard synths and outboard gear in general to the interface, would I be able to run that signal to the preamp, or would it just be vocals?
No problem! And You can run synths and outboard gear thru the preamps as well
@@ururozu but I’d have to run the trs cables to the interface first right?
Yea Trs to xlr
@@ururozu also, the quality of your gym videos is elite. What do you shoot with?
Thanks haha and I use the Sony a65000
Can you fully bypass the internal preamps to that focusrite or no ?
On FocusRite products to my knowledge, you can’t bypass. If you have the “Air” switched on I suggest turn it off to get a cleaner or clearer signal. I also have a short and updated way to connect the UAD pre amp to audio interface coming soon. It’s about 4 minutes long.
@@ururozu post that bro I’ll tune in I’m using a Apollo twin usb for windows though buying a neve preamp so knowledge is power I know how to connect it but want to see how others do their thing
@@ItzrealMusic of course, here to help and don’t hesitate to ask questions

You should have used an xlr to 1/4 cable to bypass the preamps in your interface my G
Thanks for the tip!
Yes that's what I've also been told
Thanks for sharing Apostolic! Definitely useful tips are welcomed 👍
Really, maybe thats why I keep still keep getting noise in my vocal recordings ill have to try this tomorrow.
I was just about to write that, I did this same thing for years
And how i do the same on a focusrite solo 3rd? thanks
I’ll make a short vid explaining the process for that if you’d like
great dude
Will that work for a focusrite scarlett 2i2??
@@zachmerchant3736 yup all the same. Actually gonna record a short update on how to connect it.
@@ururozu so its powered, need nothing but the xlr cables correct, just need one channel for vocals, justvtrying to get more headroom
Seems to A VERY late night work was goin on.... 😆
If the audio interface has already preamp then why you need another mic preamp?
I use this one specifically because I like the different tones I can get out of it. It can be a modern (transient) sound or I can use it for a more vintage (warmer) sound. Also lets me control the gain and output of the mic to fit different kind of music. Idk if that makes sense but I love the preamp

@@ururozu if you have an 8 mic set up on the interface will getting an external pre amp effect all 8 mics or is it just for one mic? If recording drums is there a point in getting an external, preamp in your opinion?

can you help me express^^
1. Mic > PreAmp > Soundcard > Output
2. Mic > Soundcard > PreAmp > Output

Sorry idk why I’m having a brain fart looking at this but you need help routing the vocal chain?
@@ururozu Yes dear 🙏
Sorry I did not see this message!
So from my mic it goes to Pre amp. Then preamp goes to audio interface.
Or let me know if you want a visual on how I have it routed

Of course it does! The 710 has the option to blend between 2 tones and honestly it sounds way too good.

You will not regret it. Have fun with it Emanuel. Ask anything and I’ll try to respond as quick as I can
New updated vocal chain! ruclips.net/video/XUCx__tAURE/видео.htmlsi=beUJdexpREfd9-MK
You should not be using the XLR connection on the audio interface. You should instead be using balanced XLR to TRS cable so you don't accidentally push phantom power back to your preamp.

Wake up
This is wrong bro you can damage your interface
Yea I actually did end up switching to 1/4 inc to xlr and is set up right. Thanks tho!
@@ururozu I was ignorant about this as well at one point.
Yea we all learn our lessons I hope, thanks for letting us know tho!
@@ururozu also what is 1/4 inc (sorry I just ordered one)
1/4 inch is basically the type of plug. Looks like the ones you use for like wired headphones but has just a bit bigger.
Sorry I say look up 1/4 inch to XLR on Google and it should direct you to stores with images
horrible explanation but ill see what else YT has
This video is totally useless, he makes the same beginner mistake he is trying to teach us to avoid.
Inputs and inserts are not the same thing
Not a professional but If you or anyone needs help I’ll try my best to help out to make it as simplest as can be
Inserts are for send(tip)/return(ring) signals to and from outboard processors. Inputs are just inputs. In your case they are mic inputs which go to the preamp and then A/D converter in your interface.
“so this goes directly to this” 🥱
And this did go to this haha but if you need better clarification I can help out
You should not be using the XLR connection on the audio interface. You should instead be using balanced XLR to TRS cable so you don't accidentally push phantom power back to your preamp.
Yes sir. I have the new updated connection done properly. I have the video on it coming soon. Thank you for looking out Robert!
