i'm so glad that they decided to use primarily jazz, funk, fusion, and lounge music as the theme for this amazing franchise. it really makes the game feel very fun and high quality.
For Japanese, they believe that racing and jazz go together very well. It's the search for the ultimate thrill and the satisfaction of a groove that seem to match between the two things. The US soundtracks to GT games were pretty bad and just whatever was in the Top 10 at the time. I much prefer these timeless tracks.
For being part of the OST for a video game, this is genuinely one of the highest-quality pieces of jazz fusion in general for me. This could be easily placed in a playlist alongside tracks from 'Chameleon,' 'Bitches Brew' and 'Heavy Weather' and no one would think twice about it.
@@BaguenaudeurThe differences are just night and day lol😂 Like literally, one is a somewhat avant-garde free-form jazz exploration w. almost disregard of following the traditional rule while the other is a period-accurate fusion piece w. a consistent tonality and a coherent, commercial-friendly structure relevant to the context of its time. @@sirmiluch6856 I personally prefer US/EU GT1 music over JP GT1, especially the menus. Honda dealer theme in particular matches the in-game image than the JP version.
@@sirmiluch6856 It's just the Japanese view of the Occident. They probably thought the American market wouldn't react too nicely to jazz so they gave them generic electro and then generic rock. That's also why they switched Moon Over the Castle with generic rock for so long. And when you consider how some people actually prefer those versions over the original ones (sigh), you can see they were actually right with their reasoning.
