This is great instruction. Thanks, Teach. I always loved and "tried" to play this song. The picture of Slim Pickens sitting there gut-shot just haunts me with Katy Jurado faithfully, hopeless and helpless, trying to draw near makes me cry every time. That, and when Billy says of Pat Garret, "He's my friend."
George... Once again, masterfully done! You bring a clarity and simplicity to harmonica lessons that is deeply needed.
For example, I was just informed by a very well known, nationally recoginzed harp coach that one of the keys to playing harp with a band...song, whatever is to first figure out, specifically what the chords are in the song. Then figure out the specific notes in those chords. Then... match them up on whatever key harp you are playing on.
Even though this makes perfect sense...not many harp coaches have a tendency to share that critical tidbit with struggling new harp players.

Just wanted to give an update in case others were having similar issues as I. I had learned guitar section separately and thought I should do the same with harmonica trying to go along with you, that proved to difficult for me. Today I attempted to play the harmonica while playing to guitar and low and behold what progress in just one day. I attempted to play along with you without guitar so many times and could not figure out how your blow charts went with the song; then, today I play along with playing guitar today and now I get it. What progress! Thank you for all your video's and instructions, I paid for lifetime access and I know it will be benificial. Thank You! Dave

Great lesson and tips. I just tried it on a D harp with 4-5-6 and I think it sounds a little better wailing on the 4 and 5 draw notes. Adds some soul. :-)

When I first started, I thought singing and playing were going to be impossible for me. Now it comes fairly easily. Your lessons are so clear you are making the next impossible skill become within reach. Not easy yet at all but I see a light at the end of the tunnel.

Dear sir , I I have one concern regarding mouth organ that people say who practice mouth organ or any mouth instrument soon they lost their vocal singing ..Is it myth or true. Does mouth organ harm singing vocal if practice?

I'm just trying the intro on the harmonica and cannot get how you are doing it at all, I'm assuming the minus signs means draw but I am so confused. Waching you and trying to follow your blows and draws to the diagram and I loose you everytime.

+abhishek shome Hi Abhishek. If you want to use a C harmonica and these tabs and chords you would need to play with a capo on the fifth fret.
