Isla St Clair song when the pipers play I sang for my father when he was dying I think gave him some comfort
I remember watching this with my grandfather and toward the end when all the pipers begin playing he burst into tears. That moment will always stay with me. God rest your soul grandpa.
From an American from the South who has fought in our wars. Who has a Scottish and Viking name, thank you for this music. This reminds me of my heritage, right or wrong. The history is there, so thank you again and long lives for you and yours!!!!
I am a proud Scot by blood. Isla personifies the feelings of all true Scots.
Isla not only sings this with soul, she sings it

When I was little, I used to stay a my grandparents every weekend. I remember watching this with both of them, and even then loving it. When I was ten, my grandma was diagnosed with cancer. After a few months she pased away. The night she died, my grandpa played this song on dvd. A year later, he sold the house and moved in with me. He too got cancer, and died on veterans day, 2011. My dad played the ong then. I still have the dvd. this song will always mean something to me.
Culture is key, being Scottish and Irish myself. Growing up in America in such a diverse Nation. We are tuaght as children of the many hardships of other Nations and thier struggles. So much, my culture has little or no tuaght significance in schools here.
I’ve just bought an Isla St Clair LP from a charity shop today. I remember in the 80’s she came to Fortrose to a ‘Boniface Fair’ during the local Galla Week.
This song and Flowers of the Forest were played at my husband's funeral. He has just heard them a week before his surgery and told me he wanted them played at his funeral and then a month later he died. I was blessed he had heard this.
Isla's voice is as beautiful as it was from the first time I heard her sing in the Royal Hotel in Aberdeen at the folk club in the Sixties. Great tune Isla!
Oh the tug on the heart strings...when the pipers play....
Isla saint Clair excellent voice very nice
Makes me Proud of my heritage, a piper played at my mans funeral 2011, Highland Cathedral.
My late dad was in the Kings Own Scottish Borderers during WWII and took part in the D-Day Landings.
He says that the sound of the KOSB pipers gave him and his mates heart and their fear left them. The pipes were seen by many nations, the Germans and English among them, as weapons of war.
In floods of tears here... So very beautiful. ❤️❤️❤️❤️

Damn, that'll rip your heart out.
Whenever I get emotional, for some reason, I try to get this song played in my head. It always lifts up my spirits. Same with the song "Scottish Soldier."
