    Hello! I'm thrilled to know that so many of you are starting bookbinding and interested in getting the right tools to make the process easier. In the video I try out a beginner kit to make a pamphlet stitch notebook. The 2nd part of the video is more chill as I introduce new pressing tools to the studio. I'm already using these a lot so far! I hope it's interesting and helpful to you!

    At 5:35 I meant to say 1/4 inch of the awl, not a quarter of the awl! I also forgot to mention that she includes a link to a video tutorial in the PDF.
    I'm not sponsored by papercraftpanda, I just wanted to share a great product by a fellow bookbinder that would be useful to any beginner. If you want to cut heavier materials like book board, getting a larger OLFA knife would make cutting easier. Overall I think it's a great value and the tools can be used for many years to come.

    I really appreciate this video. I am not a "book binder", but I have made journal booklets like you made in this video. You did a couple of steps that I hadn't considered doing. Since I already have tools, I plan to try the new steps. Thank you for sharing your knowledge with us.

    I just had such an eye opening experience.. do you know these moments where you’re like „oh THATS how it works“! I‘m from germany and I’ve been searching for waxed thread for months now but i just can‘t seem to find it.. I thought maybe it just doesn‘t exist here.. I only found one but it was way too thick.. but now I know you can just WAX THE THREAD
    This just changed my whole world 😂

    Thank you for featuring the kit. It was helpful to see you use it. Do you think that stitch would work for a junk journal, which features different sizes of papers?

    • @bittermelonbindery
      @bittermelonbindery  Год назад

      If the journal is single signature, I would suggest doing a 5-hole pamphlet for a bit more strength. Otherwise, long stitch for a multi signature book would be better! With long stitch you can set up spacing in between the pages to allow for expansion as you add materials.

    Muchas gracias querida Chanel, precioso trabajo, limpio, perfecto y con mucha delicadeza, tengo una pregunta……. Las 2 tablas, que hacen de presa, sujetas por 4 tornillos, me podrías decir qué medidas tienen? Y el grosor de los tornillos 🙏🙏🙏🙏🙏, te estaría inmensa mente agradecida. Gracias y sigue así… besitos desde España 💙💙💙💙

      Hola! The boards are the IKEA APTITLIG Cutting board (45 x 28 cm) cut in half. The carriage bolts are about 1 cm wide by 15 cm long. Thanks for your support and good luck!

    Great video! I’ll be checking out paper craft panda’s blog for sure. Question: what did you use on the spine of the cased book you did at the end of the video? Was that just book cloth? The book looks beautiful!

    • @bittermelonbindery
      @bittermelonbindery  Год назад

      TY! The spine is homemade book cloth from a cotton/linen blend fabric. I love the texture.

    You are the one who got me interested in bookbinding.. and now.. I want to make 5000000 of them.. haha!! I was wondering what kind of paper you add on your book [second part of the video] where can I find such paper? I am in Canada.. and it's not that easy! haha
    Also the fabric look a like you add in the middle??
    Okay!! Last question - Do you prefer Patreon or giving directly to your fundraiser for the book??
    Thank you!!!

    • @bittermelonbindery
      @bittermelonbindery  Год назад

      Hooked on bookbinding - I know the feeling! The paper I used is Bhutanese paper 120 gsm that I found at Hiromi Paper. They ship internationally but I hope it's not too pricy for you. The fabric is a linen cotton blend that I turned into book cloth. And I prefer Patreon, I'd be happy to have you join our community there! Thank you for your support :)
