Complimenti!!!

    You know, D Minor, a lot of talented people play Bach to show their technical virtuosity, but you seem to have a deeper understanding of the music at more of a spiritual level. The more I hear you play, the more I like what I hear. I want you to know how much I appreciate your gifts and how I appreciate your willingness to share them with those of us who are less capable. I have a strong feeling that Bach would have some happy things to say about you. Thanks again. Sincerely, Michael Shea, MD

    Et comment interpréter ça avec une telle simplicité et une telle virtuosité.
    Quand je vois des jazzmen se gargariser avec leurs impro à deux balles... c'est vrai, j'aime pas le jazz...

    I prefer the E. Power Biggs interpretation of this piece (CBS Masterworks recording), which is slower, more colorful, and you can hear the themes play out. This performance is "to shiny" and lacks a certain expressiveness. Playing the entire piece with the same shiny mixture registration is "hard on the ears". Sorry to throw some "cold water" on your performance. No doubt it is a good performance of the 540 toccata, but not the best I've heard.

    • @mjmcb1
      @mjmcb1 6 лет назад +2

      Well, I intensely dislike E. Power Biggs' version. I think it is ponderous. I remember Virgil Fox's version from the 60s being the perfect counterpoint to the Biggs. I have been coming back to D Minor's leggiera version many times [I must be about 50 of the views]. For me this performance epitomises what a toccata should be. And remarkably free of errors.

      @@musael22 Je ne peux pas être d'accord avec votre opinion. J'ai beau relire avec attention l'avis de M. Bernstein, je n'y trouve pas la moindre trace d'irrespect vis-à-vis de l'artiste et de son interprétation, au contraire même. Il y a là simplement l'expression, légitime et fondée, d'une préférence pour une autre interprétation tout en reconnaissant clairement la qualité du travail de D Minor. Et son opinion critique est même intéressante, car elle semble reposer sur une réelle culture musicale et une bonne connaissance de la pratique de l'instrument. Elle oppose en effet deux types d'interprétation de cette oeuvre : l'une, brillante et un peu virtuose, qui est celle proposée avec brio par D Minor, et une autre qui joue davantage sur les différentes couleurs de cette pièce en variant les registres, les claviers et les intensités. Ce genre d'appréciation réfléchie et fondée ne peut qu'intéresser les artistes et je suis sûr que D Minor l'aura appréciée à sa juste valeur, d'autant plus qu'elle était très respectueusement exprimée... contrairement à la vôtre, que je vous propose d'ailleurs de retirer du site, car elle détonne réellement avec le style de l'ensemble des opinions exprimées sur le travail de D Minor. Et désormais veuillez laisser ce genre d'agressions verbales à des sites qui, malheureusement, servent trop souvent de défouloirs et de déversoirs de ce que certains ont de moins beau à exprimer, hélas ! Merci en tout cas de m'avoir permis de réfléchir positivement à votre remarque ; c'est toujours au moins ça !
