He plays this almost as one would play one of the Vivaldi concertos that Bach arranged for organ, which gives this performance great vitality. Excellent.

Would also like to hear you play some D minor works by Buxtehude ie his Toccata in D minor Bux 155 and his Prelude and Fugue in the same key. I think you would do a very good rendition of these fine works.

Very well played, absolutely transparent registration. The interpretation reminds me a lot of Helmut Walcha, who played the toccatas as probably Bach imagined.

I Just wonder how you combine 3 midi data streams ? Are you using only one midi imput at the computer ?. And what is the minimum speed required to run such configuration ?

Hauptwerk is able to manage multiple midi interfaces and multiple midi channels at the same time. In my setup the 2 keyboards and the pedalboard send data on midi channel 1 from 3 different midi interfaces (onboard USB for the UMX and MIDI to USB for the pedalboard) then Hauptwerk routes the signal internally. You don't need a very powerful computer to run Hauptwerk (mine is a simple i3) but a large amount of RAM is requested because all the samples of a sampleset are loaded in the RAM for instant access.

Fabulous! I pretend to be a church organist and I would probably be a better one if I could practice at home. I would like to duplicate the virtual organ system you are using if possible - except for the European pedalboard. I recognize the Behringer components. Would you be willing to share the other components with me? I am specifically interested in the bench, console, touch screen, and computer components. Thanks so very much. You are a terrific player, and I admire your talent and your accomplishments a lot.
Bench and console come from a 40-yrs old Ahlborn organ that I found on ebay (see pics on my fb page). Screen is no touch screen, I have a mouse hidden on the right side of the Behringers and an almost useless keyboard underneath. Computer is an i3 with 16gb of ram and a 128gb ssd. I'll try to make a video about my setup soon...

Thank you Alessio. Harpsichord requires a completely different technique that I don't feel comfortable with, so no harpsichord recordings planned in the next future... Maybe later ;-)
I wonder how much does it cost to setup all of these wonderful digital DIY at home church organ like this.
I have a less elaborated setup (didn't buy 2 keyboards like him, and kept the manuals from the "antique shitty organ" I used and midifi-ed them same as the pedalboard).
Got the organ for free from an elderly guy who just wanted to get rid of the piece of furniture (it didn't work anymore, but since I just needed it for the keyboards/pedalboard, I didn't care).
The electronics to MIDI-fy cost me a total of 450 EUR (with all the small stuff I had to buy around : cables, soldering material, couple of screws, tape, glue, new padding for the pedals...)
The PC I use is "my old machine" so didn't cost a penny. But you shouldn't have to put more than 300 EUR in a (second hand) PC who does a good job at Hauptwerk. The only important thing will be memory (you WANT a 16Go PC or you won't be able to use half of the sample banks)
You are a very fine organist and you know how to make music! Clean and articulate! Only wonder why you did not exploit the sounds of the organ sample set as the fugue could have been more dramatic with additions towards the final entrance of the fugue subject in the pedal and then the final chords.

Why do you treat the D pedal note in the 13th measure as two notes? Is it not tied?
In my Breitkopf edition the tie is between parentheses, and the thing is, I like it better that way :)

Decent for the pricetag. But my first copy (the lower keyboard) was actually better. The upper keyboard, that I bought 5 years later, is definitely lighter.

I agree with Jake. Beside my profession as an IT manager i am also a church organist. In deed, your interpretations are great and sounds perfect so you could start, giving public concerts.
Performance is ok especially given this is played from memory. Don't know why anyone would want to put themselves through that. However, the registration is lacking. Listen to Helmut Walcha's performance of this going back over 50 years & notice the difference. He builds the thematic material using different registration on both manuals with an excellent finale to the fugue. Modern organists today seem, despite having 2+ manuals, to play everything ONLY on the Great. Why??? I just can't fathom.
