I want to do connection by "mobile hotspot" using gaming laptop. You think signal will be better than through home router? Would be nice to move laptop close to bed, sofa and play everything high settings, 60 fps.
I don't have a mobile hotspot but it should act as a router too. Only one way to find out right? Moonlight and Sunshine together was designed to work locally so I think it'll work fine. Let me know how it goes!
I'm still thinking between ROG or Lenovo legion go. Lack of Vrr on Legion is a bit of disappointment. Will let you know in few weeks how works the combo: laptop and handheld 😎
True. I was excited for the Legion until I heard there was no VRR, the unit was about 200g heavier, the resolution is higher which at that size doesn't really make sense, the screen is too big for something that's meant to be portable, and it's still using the same CPU which the Ally struggles with in some games. Who knows though, it might be amazing so we'll just have to wait and find out@@michaeldidikof634

Did you restart your PC? Also if you don't have your monitor on, try turning it on too. If i remember correctly you need to have a monitor plugged in(not sure if it has to be on... don't remember) OR you can use a dummy plug

Now that I've got everything, trying to figure out a way to use the Ally to run OBS and capture my gaming PC. Tried the official dock and an Elgato HD60X and then realized that the official dock only has USB 2.0, so that's out. Either I'm gonna have to rig some USBC adapters or wait for the JSAUX 12-1 to drop. So looking forward to that thing. All in all having a blast with this thing, even without running games from my PC and actually using the Ally itself runs games way better than I expected. Thanks again!
everything was fine until some months ago, now strangely i see a drop of 15 -20 fps on the host when i start streaming. I have 4090 withj i13700k, before fps were the same before i start srtreaming, any ideas?
For the host that's going to run the game, you'll need to have Sunshine, and for anything else connecting to the host whether it be your phone, tablet, PC, MAC, or Linux machine, you'll use Moonlight to connect to the Sunshine host.

I haven't tested this myself but this was designed to work locally by default, but can be configured to work externally as well. If I could turn off my modem I would, but my family would kill me 😅
imgur.com/a/H0NGlos Disabled Internet on desktop by setting DNS to loopback and it still works. Just keep in mind that some games have Denuvo which require an initial internet connection so... I guess you can run a hotspot temporarily first just to log in, and from there you can just play offline.

I have a 7800xt and a ryzen 5 7600x I can game 1440p 144hz no issue I’ve had a ally for a week and just happened To have my pc turned on wondering why it’s like stream my titles on my pc…… THERES NO DELAY ON MY NETWORK AT HOME. ICAN STREAM THESE TITLES AT BETTER GRAPHICS THEN WHAT THIS DEVICE CAN RUN WHY ARE SO LITTTLE PEOPLE TALKING ABOHT THIS IM RUNNING STARFIELD MAX SETTINGS ON THE ALLY 80fps NO ISSUE
@@kigaming2593 Strange it looks perfectly fine when I run it. Only thing I can think of is you have to adjust your colors on the ROG Ally in Armory Crate
If you haven't figured out why it's washed out, it's probably because your video settings or overall display setting's brightness is too high. This is game streaming so it counts as a video. Also, I made a new video if you're interested ruclips.net/video/Og2KmrZv1-4/видео.html
If it works for you, go for it. I haven't tried steam in a while, but all i know is the overall consensus is moonlight is a smoother experience with less input lag

-Disconnect from Moonlight
-Switch your ROG Ally to Gamepad mode
-Reconnect with Moonlight

Just donwloads ViGEmBus Driver and restart your host and it will work great!

You can do it remotely too but it's extra setup. You can use Parsec if you want to do remote too. I'll make a video on it

Of course. The ROG Ally is basically a Windows 11 laptop without a physical keyboard(it has a virtual keyboard) and trackpad.

You can't just stream from steam?
Moonlight allows you to play any game from any source and on top of that it looks and feels smoother(less input lag).
My colors on the ally is all washed out
There's a setting in Armory Crate to adjust your colors
