    Most 7s movement are very accurate or can easily be regulated. And they run for 30 years without service. It‘s one of the most impressive movement out there’s!

      No hacking, no hand winding and variable accuracy. Yeah, very impressive. Not.

      @wanderer1125 5 лет назад +54

      @@DM-rc4yu At first I also thought the same about the no hack/wind feature of the 7s26 movement. But after I bought a seiko 5, I realized it's not much of a bad thing, I only had to shake it a few times and will be enough to power it for the whole day since my movement will also wind it. The seconds kinda stops when rotating the crown backwards so setting the seconds isn't really much different. It's surprisingly accurate enough, just gaining about +6 seconds/day, also proven durable that usually lasts long without service. Very impressive for the price.

      Must agree, after mine arrived.by post from Amazon it was running +20spd. After a quick check with a simple compass I found both case/movement a nd bracelet magnetised. After a quick run over my cheap Chinese demagnetiser I was astonished to get +-2 to 4spd worn which I think is amazing for such a low cost automatic.

    Got the same piece - mine is bloody accurate! I've been wearing it for months on end and unable to detect any inaccuracy in excess of 15-20 secs probably (rough estimate). I simply do not need more accuracy. One more thing: as people are possibly watching from all over, including the 2nd and 3rd world, so myself, I usually get offended when Anglo watch guys call it cheap. Basic as it is, it's a phenomenal package for the money, both specwise and execution (dial), for a watch that costs 1/10th my monthly salary in Budapest. Seiko 5 a legend!

    I bought one of these after watching this review last year. 18 months later and I have to say I'm pretty impressed with it as an every day wear. I own Panerai and also a Rolex Datejust which only get worn on special occasions. My G Shocks (Edifice's) were my go to every day watches but over the last year I've really grown to love the Seiko, it's nice to wear it knowing that if it gets broken or lost I can replace it for less than £70. It's reliable as hell as well, only loses a few seconds a day which is easily adjustable, it often gets commented on as it looks like an expensive watch to non-watch people. It was a decent recommendation.

    Adrian, I totally I agree with you. This is the perfect starter watch. It is an automatic with a unique design that is a great value for for under $100. Two things I want to add, it has the same 7s26 movement as the SKX (a workhorse that won't need servicing for a decade) and it has a hardlex crystal which is much harder than mineral crystal (but not as hard as sapphire). I think the video quality and production stepped up a notch with this video - better focusing and I liked the music during the sped up parts. Thanks for another great video :)

    • @ZviJ1
      @ZviJ1 3 года назад

      Depends what "good time" means to someone -- some evidently do not consider a deviation of up to 20 secs really inaccurate for a mechanical watch.
      But it is more likely that at the time you received those watches they had already been regulated to within +-10 secs, or even a +- 2 secs accuracy.

    I have had a very similar Seiko 5 for around a decade and it has always been acceptably accurate as an everyday beater. In all that time I have regularly showered with it on and then washed it with soap and water and rinsed it in hot water to keep it looking bright and fresh. Recently I opened it up, checked it over internally and replaced the scratched crystal with a sapphire. The internals were like new with no sign that there's ever been water ingress. So my point is that your scepticism over water resistance and time keeping might be based on your single watch. As is the case for many watch fans, mine was my intro to real watches and I guess it spoiled me because I struggle to justify the price of many well known brands on the basis of their being a marked step up in quality.

    I have the SNXJ89. This is the fluted bezel of the same design. Slightly different indices but the clasp is the same and similar reference numbers lets you know they are in the same family. The SNXJ line has discontinued so they are pretty expensive. I got mine in 2015 as my first automatic watch and it was double the normal Seiko 5 price. Look at other numbers like 92 and similar for two tones and all gold.

    It's a Seiko 5 sir, what's not to like? Not as inaccurate as your making out either. For 9/10 people ( including me) it will do the job with the minimum fuss. If you want accuracy buy a Quartz and without question will out perform all autos, but lack any Soul!
    Yet another cracking review Adrian.

    Lovely video mate... 😁
    Sorry for being sooo late to this video of yours... But I'm glad I did...
    Btw, what would be the best next n larger Seiko automatic that has a similar dial with a bigger case size than this watch? 😊

    Cool video, as always. That movement is a bomb proof machine. It will not need to be serviced in decades. The same movement is mounted in the SKX 007/009 and everyone think they're Seiko low range icons. I have a SKX009 with same movement, it goes +10"/day but if I leave it crown up at night the total deviation is about +5"/day. Can we ask for more on this budget range watches? The answer is Noooo 😀

    Great review. I must admit, it is a beautiful watch. A panhandlers Rolex. However, do not under estimate a 7S26 movement. They are very well built movements. I own 2 watches with the same movement for over 3 years and both run under 5 seconds per day.

    For the price is a very good hell of a piece. I own 1 to everyday use and I don't regret it. I readjust the time like once a month if so.

    I've had 7S26 run at +0.5 sec a day for months in the SNK803, I only sold it because the 18mm lugs made it too small for me. My SKX runs at +7 a day so yeah, these can be perfectly accurate and consistent.

    just adjusted my skx007 to -3sec/day which has the same movement. Just ordered this snxs79, can't wait to arrive. it's hard to justify the new Rolex OPs comparing to this little fella (although the craving for the OP won't go away i'm sure...)

    Had mine for nearly 20 years!! Still runs fantastically. Its a great little watch for the price. Can change the strap out if needed. Not sure I agree with your comments about inaccuracy though cos its well within parameters that other much more expensive watches fall within also. Otherwise a nice look at the watch 👍

    I will just echo the other points here; I have an SNK809 with a 7s26. It was my first auto; I love it. It is running -3 seconds per day with no regulation. For me, that's perfectly acceptable!
    By the way, just discovered your channel; really enjoying it. ☺

    Which do you think you prefer for everyday use or rather “1 watch collection” this one or the 73 the silver/light dial one?

  • @predragjo5977
    @predragjo5977 6 лет назад +2

    7s26 movement is fairly accurate tho. Keep in mind that most of the high end automatic movements are not accurate, hech, thaer is not a single automatic movement that is 100% accurate. If you want to wear an accurate watch get yourself a Quartz or Solar :) Mechanic watches are not about perfect accuracy. Even if it runs 15s+ a day its good enough lol.

    I don't know why this watch doesn't get more attention. All the youtube watch channels champion the SNKL23 as the kind of affordable watches and now they drove the price up to almost $200. This thing looks great, I think it's the perfect budget Datejust, or even a budget SARB033.

    You raised an excellent point on the stainless steel grading, it's something hard to find that sort of information on stainless steel advertised watches in the entry to mid price ranges, particularly non-diver style watches (dress, field, pilot, etc)... I suspect this one is 304 grading of some sort, unlike 316 gradings used in divers and upper price range watches.

    The 7S26 movement can keep great time. My old Black Monster has always been very accurate.

  • @deevee8220
    @deevee8220 4 года назад

    I absolutely agree it's one of the best watches for the money (specifically this Seiko SNXS series). However, I don't agree with your assessment of the 7S26 movement. Along with the Seiko NH35 (with manual winding and hacking), these are the most reliable and accurate movement you can get for under $100. You'll find that most of these watches will come out of the box at a variation of less than +/-15sec per day. With my timegrapher, I could regulate to below 5sec per day. Regarding reliability, they could all run at least 10 years without any maintenance. When it begins to show problems, just get a replacement movement (about $35 on ebay) and swap the dial and hands over. It's basically equivalent to a "Toyota" of movements.

  • @blindriv3r
    @blindriv3r 6 лет назад +14

    It is Hardlex, not mineral crystal. Also, the 7S26 movement can be easily regulated yourself if you feel it isnt accurate enough. Also, touching the rotor with your fingers shows you have no respect for the movement

    • @BarkandJack
      @BarkandJack  6 лет назад +8

      Come on man, it’s a £70 watch. The rotor isn’t going to worry about me touching it.

    • @Visitor555
      @Visitor555 6 лет назад +14

      @@BarkandJack If 70£ doesnt mean nothing to you then you are definition of watch snob. And its very funny you have Skx and give it more respect like its much more and u act for this like its cheap junk watch, but they both have same movement..

    • @calizess
      @calizess 5 лет назад +2

      I took my Orient Ray II to a watchmaker to adjust the accuracy and guess what he did? He poked his finger into the rotor immediately after he opened the case!!! Why??? What are you trying to check or feel poking the movement with your fat dirty fingers??? It still boils my blood!!! By the way, he made it worse keeping it for 5 days. Ive adjusted the watch by myself, using a headphone mic and a free app in 15 minutes.

    Bought one used with a jubilee bracelet. 115€. It's off by quite a fair bit, but looks good - despite being rather small in comparison to my Tissot. Sizing of the Seiko doesn't fit my wrist perfectly, but it is a great watch.
    Let's see if I am gonna have it serviced and continue wearing it or if I pass it on, we shall see

  • @Scuba72Chris

    These affordable watches aren't individually regulated before they leave the manufacturer like more expensive watches are. No big deal, just take it in to your local friendly watch service shop and get them to tweak up the accuracy for you. I bought a Seiko 5 a year ago and it was losing around 20-25 seconds a day. I took it into a repair shop that I use and asked them to get it on their timing machine and adjust the regulation. Now it's running at around +4s per day. They didn't even charge me for doing it!

  • @frankarev4920
    @frankarev4920 6 лет назад +1

    You are aware that it has the same movement as your SKX. Still agree that a mechanical watch is a subconsciously a better watch. Now you need to preach that more to quartz users. Keep up on the videos.
