From where is the Finnish Audio
I love your ESC references. I’m like that’s Krista, that’s Melfest, that’s Duncan..
Finnish (native) and Swedish. The Norwegian clip was pretty clear spoken so I thought it was Swedish at first.
Its probably oslo speaking
@@carolinebackstad No, i think hes from Trøndelag(speaks trøndersk). Im from Norway and he was clearly speaking a different dialect

I did this but 3 times I was wrong but they were all Turkic languages that I guessed wrong as Turkish
@@nate-otero well, basically they’re all Turkic languages so its ok ahaha
she is hadise. she is cant speak true
Easy to guess the area of where the languages are being spoken, but the actual country was really difficult this time.
I had Dutch correct, since i speak Dutch and also guessed Swedish. But i mixed up Turkish with another language. The balkan countries all sound so similar, it was too hard.
For Bosnian, Serbian, and Croatia, they clips should have included some language-specific words, it's the only thing that would allow precise determination.
@@OBrasilo well for bosnia they were talking about a mosque so that helps, serbia and croatia the accents are a little different. but i agree with you
The Balkan countries don't sound similar at all. Maybe you mean the Slavic languages? There are plenty of languages in the Balkans that are pretty unique, such as Romanian and Greek.
11 right:
Finnish, Yiddish, Norwegian, Swedish, Lithuanian, Czech, Croatian, Turkish, Romanian, Galician, Dutch
haha all the European languages
Faroese blew my mind because it sounded so similar to my native language swedish, especially in the beginning, only that I couldn't understand anything. I thought faroese would sound more like danish but its' sounds are closer to swedish.
It's super weird, it really sounds like it's a Swede saying non-Swedish words.
Faroese really tripped me out too. All these years I thought it would sound closer to Icelandic or Danish, and as a Norwegian who grew up learning Swedish to near fluent level, I was so confused by what I heard. I was like "wait, I think I understand this! Or at least I should be able to understand it. Am I dealing with a funky dialect of Swedish I've never heard before?" lol 😂
I was learning Swedish and I thought this was either a drunk man speaking it or some dialect I just couldnt understand well. The thing is I kinda know what Faroese sounds like because I listened to some of their music but I decided in my mind that this wasnt it.
I could understand quite a bit, but I'm Norwegian, and accustomed to a large variety of dialects.

I got Finnish, Yiddish, Norwegian, Turkish, Czech, Romanian, Malagasy, Galician and Swedish right. When I listened to Faroese, I was certain it was "Gotländska", the Swedish dialect spoken on Gotland island.
I'm from Faroe Islands! We hear that a lot, but in written form, Faroese looks almost exactly like Icelandic :)
Hahaha! I realized it was Faroese since I understood a tad bit more than I understood Icelandic.
How on earth did u get Malagasy, sounded nothing like other austronesian languages ive heard!
@@Geewwhyend .... it has more to do with a few words they mention. I don't remember the excerpt, but the person must have said Antananarivo or something specific to Madagascar.
@@Geewwhyend .... I just listened to it again: the woman literally says "Madagascara" and she says it in a slightly francophone accent.
14/22. This was an easy set. I guessed Finnish, Yiddish, Zulu, Tajik, Czech, Vietnamese, Lithuanian, Malagasy, Dutch, Turkish, Romanian, Croatian, Cantonese, and Swedish.
4:42 Watch the language.
8:27 when you’re so dumb you can’t understand what they’re saying in your language, and then realise it’s not your language

Oh dear! Yiddish was easy, because they even said "Yiddish". I mistook Norwegian for Swedish, and when Swedish came, I wasn't sure. Recognized Dutch of course. And I realized that Cantonese was some version of Chinese, and Galician some version of Spanish. But that's it.

Yas, got 11 on this one and finally guessed Vietnamese right 😅 Faroese was really interesting, I thought it's something from the Tyrol area. Lithuanian sounded vaguely Romanian with a pinch of something Slavic. The ones I was completely lost on are Zulu, Malagasy and Hausa. Nice challenge!

I got 7: Finnish, Czech, Turkish, Romanian, Croatian, Cantonese and Swedish. I love hearing turkish and finnish so these 2 were easy to guess.

@@beorlingo Well you'd be very wrong if you'd think so lol. Romanian language is a mix of Latin and Slavic words, but we (Romanians) have also a lot of Turkish ones as well, because we've been under the Ottoman Empire for centuries. We are basically just like Portugal, Spain, Italy and France, but because we are surrounded by Slavic speaking countries, unlike the others I mentioned, we have taken many words from them.

Guessed Finnish, Norwegian, Tajik, Vietnamese, Turkish, Romanian, Cantonese, and Swedish! 8/22. But Faroese really tricked me, I kinda understood some of it (I'm Danish) so I thought it was Swedish or Norwegian, but it didn't sound quite like any of them lol
I got Yiddish (pretty sure the speaker actually said the word), Bengali, Dutch, Turkish, Cantonese, Swedish. Forgot about Galician, and I couldn't think of what Spanish language we hadn't done yet.
I am so glad that so many people recognized Czech 👍 It's funny that the audio ends with some rude expresion and peep "To si děláš prdel" means "You are kidding" where "prdel" means "Ass". 🙈 They could find better example of Czech language 😄😄😄

In this entire game, I only identified German, French, Spanish, Japanese, Chinese (Mandarin), Thai, Korean, Italian and English. It highlights the sad fact that some languages are much easier to identify than others, and as a result, the world is heavily skewed in favour of languages that are easier to identify, with English occupying the apex of the global language recognition pyramid. We hear English-language songs on many radio stations around the world, see English-language films and television shows, predominantly from the United States, and people learn English as a compulsory subject in non-English-speaking countries. All of them are manifestations of a world being heavily centred on the English language, thus skewing the world in favour of native English speakers. The only way to fight this problem of lingual Anglocentrism is to create a panlingual language used as a global lingua franca in order to make the world a lingual level-playing field, benefitting native speakers of all languages, including native English speakers.
I understand Tajik because it is one of Farsi Dari accent, Swedish it is my fifth language, Cantonese it is similar to Chinese, Vietnamese it is so obvious. God Save all Humans

Tajik, Kazakh, Kyrgiz, Turkish, Azerbaijani BUT why not Uzbek in any series

Finnish is pretty easy to recognize. Prob is that if it's Estonian one might think it's Finnish too. I doubt I would ever mistake Finnish for Estonian though.
@@beorlingo The only reason I recognize Estonian is because I'm from Finland and to me Estonian sounds like Finnish except I don't understand a word of it 😂
