I didn't watch this when it was a live stream and kind of new to these ATS units, but I must say I really, really enjoyed this video, learned a lot. I wish I could give it more than 1 thumbs up.
Thank you for extended review of this radio. I appreciate the amount of time you dedicated to this review. I was on the fence before on making a purchase but many of the things you highlighted has made me decide against it.
I’m waiting to receive the ATS120 I ordered. I compared it to the Malachite clones and Belka. I like the Belka, but having to deal with sending funds to Belarus killed that choice. Two big features I like about the ATS120 are no muting between SSB frequency steps and ability to connect my Bluetooth headphones or desk speaker.
To meet such performance requirements only reasonable option seem like assembling own radio from parts such as RSP1A or similar SDR using a phone/tablet or RPI. Doing so will allow one to pick and chose and relocate display and other components as far away from each other to minimize interference. Put everything in a small briefcase and call it ICOM++
I’m very interested in this radio, but the external antenna jack placed on the bottom? Not a game changer for me considering the unit can be placed in landscape mode.
Is the ATS 120 the first radio in the ATS series to have the LNA and Bluetooth or does the ATS 25 max decoder have those features? Thanks for all your great content.
Thanks! There is a purchase link in an original ATS-120 video descriptions. Yes, there is a chinese firmware which comes with radio and also you can purchase firmware on it from harduino.com
Hello Paula, always good ideas or news from the market, what or would you give your personal opinion, assessment, to others, ATS, for this product, lg, 55, 73
Hello greetings. I have a question, this radio can be updated, and I installed version 4.16 offered by Harduno and everything seems to work quite well, I have noticed that the bluethooth is enabled on the screen but I cannot find a way to connect it to a bluethoth speaker, I do not see in the adjustments with achieving it, perhaps someone already figured it out and can help me with this, thank you very much and a cordial greeting...
Im not a 100% sure how i did it but I put my BT headphones in pairing mode then kept pressing the "on screen" BT button (next to Volume display) on and off until the radio connected to them automatically. to turn the bluetooth off you press the right hand button, but I think you need to turn the radio off and back on for the blooth to then reconnect automatically
What I do now is always put the headphones in pairing mode press the on screen BT icon to off and then turn it back on and wait. The ATS-120 will connect within a couple of seconds. If I don’t do this the radio only intermittently reconnects by itself. I don’t want to sit waiting hopefully for it to sometimes work.
All of these Chinese mini radios are long on features but very very short on performance. They all use the same radio chip, but without a lot of additional filters they are all but useless. I got burned with the HRD-747 and was unable to even give it away. The only Chinese radio I would consider now is the Malachite "V5" but it's closer to $200.
@@OM0ET Navtex frequency: 518 kHz or 490 kHz. For 518 kHz you set the radio to SSB Upper Sideband and 516 kHz adjust BFO to 65. See here: ruclips.net/video/FUz9ezx5pa8/видео.html .Probably technically is capable ATS120, but I am curious if it sensible enough to receive Navtex in Slovakia. Please note that Navtex transmission is not continuous, it has a schedule, each transmitter is transmitting maybe only 4 times a day. Try Split (Croatia) Navtex or Mondolfo Italy. The schedule is on their site.
Oh yeah, lots of internal noise as evidenced by this little ferrite antenna, and even more dramatically when you engaged the preamp (or should itbe called a post-amp? 🤔). Interesting the whip picks up Poland a lot better. Well, it's quite an interesting design if you think about it; I think one would want an untuned antenna, covering the while band right away, for an SDR. But what performance could it have? What if the ferrite rod were longer? And LOL'd at frequency stepping on MW... If you're originally 1kHz off, you remain 1kHz off unless you go back to the 1kHz step and tune to the exact frequency 🤦♂️ what a dumb crap 🤣
why youtube is flooding the channels with this kind of garbage i'll never know unless you're being sponsored. i learned my lesson a few years ago, never again.

Hmm very interesting radio. What time was the stream ? Very strange no FM mode as the ATS100 does have it
Excellent presentation! Thank you 📡
I’m very interested in this radio, but the external antenna jack placed on the bottom? Not a game changer for me considering the unit can be placed in landscape mode.
Waiting for a detailed comparison video between ATS120 and TR110/HRD 747.
The New ATS-120Pro Version has been launched, it would be more than happen to have a chance to see your review on it in the future.
Amazing how many people don’t research things it as got FM with rds , it might not work but it has got it ….
Is the ATS 120 the first radio in the ATS series to have the LNA and Bluetooth or does the ATS 25 max decoder have those features? Thanks for all your great content.
ATS25 MAX DECODER will be also reviewed in one of my next videos.
@@OM0ET ok I will wait to find out.
Great Demo, waiting for color version, annodised aluminium.
What do you mean color version ?
@@digitalmediafan he possibly means changing color palette
This Radio is good to listen to static noise
If brand-name manufacturers were to hop on the color display bandwagon, it would undoubtedly be a positive development.
With MW it's fairly deaf unless you use the LNA plus what does the right black button do ?!
LNA is not for LW and MW. Also it not working properly on 80m. Then on other bands is awesome tool 😊👍
@@OM0ET the LNA certainly does work on MW and SW and FM but no not on LW to ask again what does the right black button do ? 80m is fine with me
@@digitalmediafan The lower right black button disconnects the Bluetooth. Put them in pairing mode again to reconnect

I need me one of them
Me too, although mine is more want than need.

Thank you very much ! 😊
You have to turn off the RDS feature under setup.
No manual came with it. How do I get one?
Has anybody noticed battery drain on this radio when powered off? My device goes for 100% to 0 in 2-3 days when not in use.
when you say you cant use FM modulation on CB does that mean you can receive CB whats the problem with that, i thought CB was AM?
Cb in EU is mainly in FM, but also AM and SSB is allowed to use already. Unfortunately this receiver doesn't support FM.
