Thanks for showing the power output on the unlocked bands. I have not seen a review of the radio that showed that it is not an 80 Watt radio on those bands, including the 11m band. It is more like 40-50 Watts as per my Watt meter. I find it interesting that no other reviewer mentions this, thanks for being honest about it. Perhaps you should mention these lower output values on those bands in your description. Thanks again.
His results are not consistent with other tests online. I don't know if his particular radio is underpowered, his meter is inaccurate, or maybe just testing at 12.5V instead of 13.8V is responsible? In any case it's not a typical result for this radio.
Nice work, good review. Thank you for the information and demonstrations. I've been thinking of buying one to put 15 meters in my car, and I think this convinced me. 73 de N1WKO
Hi Paul, that is an interesting piece of equipment, and your tests are excellent, complete and with good results. It is worth keeping in mind that little QT-80!!! Greetings from Argentina, 73. LU3DK.-
This is an awesome radio. FYI, I bet you that the radio is much more accurate in frequency than your signal generator. These radios are extremely stable and accurate, usually better than +/-10hz only! (Not 50hz as you saw). 73
It looks like a very good station, what antenna do you recommend for a car with a magnetic mount? I currently have an ML-145 from President. Would it work well with this antenna?
Hello Paul and thank's for this video! This radio is very like the 9900 and the 6666. I had both of them, but you need a fan in the back of it, because this rasio gets HOT! Very hot. The best ffrom LB1NH Arild. 🙂
You don't "need" a fan. The radio is designed to handle the heat. Also, the heatsink is larger in this new radio compared to the original AT-6666 you mentioned. 73
Wouldn't it be much easier to get an extra microphone plug using just the PTT leads and connect it to a jack for a key connection? You worked very hard to make that nice mic adaptation.
What voltage did you use for power testing? You said 12.5v at one point. I get 13.9v from battery to radio in my truck. Higher voltage would or should bring pep up a little. Great video regardless. 73 N5FWW
If you are having power output issues, the power connector shown here, are known to be problematic ! I read in the comments, someone said the first thing they are doing, is cutting off that connector ! Now I understand why ! And at the power level this radio is capable of, I'm guessing that plug would get very warm, if not hot !
Ahoj, díky za recenzi, kamaráde, znamená to, že to má lepší přijímač, neý Lincoln II+, anebo linkoln Washington? Máš o tom ponětí, dle zkušeností? Velmi rád dělám spojení po nocích pozemní vlnou. Díky. Kapr mobil.
I bought the Anytone Quad 6 version ! But something odd on 15 meters, thru an antenna, or a dummy load ! I can only show full output by whistling into the microphone ! Talking only shows about 10 watts output, regardless of how hard I drive the microphone ? 10 and 12 meters show full output when modulated ! Too it claims to be 80 watts on CW, but it too is only 10 watts out ? Anyone else see these results with either model ?
Thank you sir for all the videos you have done on this radio. I recently got a qt80. No madder what antenna i use it tells me "high SWR". Is there a way to tune the SWR's on this radio? Thank for your time and consideration.
They're £225 in the UK. Cover the 15/12/11/10M bands All Mode with a decent power output. Why do you think it's 'Insanely Over Priced'? What does more for less money ???
I just won a QT60 in the Radioditty raffle. 😊
Nice, congrats!
Lucky you I spent 500 and didn’t win anything lol

Try replugging the power cable to the radio, and make sure your supply is good.

Ta vertikální deska s induktorama , hádám, že to je měnič pro napájení koncového stupňe. Je divné, že deklarují nejaký výkon, který to reálně nemá.

Hello, I'm 6L5TSF and I live in Korea. I watch RUclips a lot these days. I'll see you on the walkie-talkie someday😊

Thank you Paul. What is the difference between the QT80 and an Anytone AT-6666?
Excellent video it cleared up a lot of questions I had.

Great video Paul
Practical looking radio.
Very useful video! Thank you!

YES!
I've always understood that you should measure power into a dummy load and not into an antenna so this may explain the lower readings.
Good review. You could have fitted the cw socket into the side of the radio case and connected to the ptt pins on the back of the mic socket.
Anexcellent video. Try whistling into the mic, you may see elevated output levels.

hey Michel from Bordeaux! I heard him a few times!

Parádne rádio lepšie ako tyt th9800
Maybe a pair of sparkplug boot pliers might help with connecting the antenna cable to the radio

How do you access the engineering menu?

So can you then use your telegraph key, to key the radio while in one of the phone modes ?
SSB, FM....etc. !
🤔.....?
Yes, like a standard PTT button
I bought the Anytone

Would be good to connect a 50ohm dummyload. If SWR will be high do you may have faulty unit probably
@OM0ET thank you for the reply. As it turns out my new coax was bad, had to return it for a new one.
Apparently there is no need to change the jumper position….it can expanded by certain key presses.
7805 is an voltage regulator
Ad for the radio? Did you purchase that radio with your own money?
Insanely over priced for what you actually get.

Why do you think it's 'Insanely Over Priced'? What does more for less money ???
It's definitely not overpriced!! Cheaper than a cheap end vhf dual bander here in the UK ! I think it's excellent value !!!
I paid less than $300.00 for my Quad 6 and sure didn't think for what you get it was over priced.😊
When i get mine. First thing im gonna do. Chop off that power plug and put on a righteous anderson
Just wanted to say, your pfp is glorious.
Very good ❤❤❤ep2fa
