Here is a message of hope for those with a retinal detachment. I had one last month and I recovered perfectly after treatment. Don't be scared, Don't panic. Just look for your doctor immediately, and trust that him /her will prescribe the best tratment for you. YOU WILL BE OK !!!

Good video. I had surgery for a retinal tear 5 years ago.. You really need to see a retinal surgeon urgently, not an optometrist as this is a very specialised field. My optometrist could not find any cause, he referred me to an ophthalmologist who also could not diagnose this but he suspected it was a retinal tear or hole an referred me to the retinal surgeon. Don't leave things, it's too serious and you could lose your vision in that eye if not treated

I have been diagnosed with a retinal infection and now have to wait for eye surgery in approximately 2 weeks. Before I had eye herpes; and now this problem right after it was finally cleared. At first the doctors misdiagnosed me with pink eye.. Now I have to get my Record Of Employment(medical reasons) from the temp agency and start all over again.

I wish the doctor would explain eye floaters in general! For years I've seen what would probably be considered "traditional eye floaters" along with strange starlight squiggly things that I can only see when I look at the sky. It's like looking into a microscope full of amoeba.

My son retina detached in one eye around age 3. He had a scleral buckle put in. He had little eye sight left in one eye. Then another doctor 2 year later rearranged the scleral buckle and now my son completely lost vision in one eye. Can his vision ever be restored. It is so hard for him to get by with one eye and wears glasses. Its hard to trust even doctors.

Thank you. In bio classes you think of the retina as the rear material of the eyeball, so I could never understand what a retina detachment was.. "is the eyeball torn in half?" sort of a nonsense question...
Now I finally get it. The retina is one of several layers to the wall: "ahhhhh"

I had a retinal tear , lost 25% of my vision. Had an eye buckle surgerically put in to repair rather than laser. Surgery done on emergency basis as I could of lost all vision in that eye.

+Phillip Franklin I have a very bad stomach and vomit 10 times a day. Right after I vomit, I would notice balls of lights spinning all over my vision. I wonder if this can cause a retinal tear. And then, after they laser it, would vomiting cause more tears. I do not know what to do.

I am not a Doctor. I only relayed my experience to warn people to take floaters very seriously, and to see an opthomologist as soon as you notice them.
I am sorry to hear about your illness. I can only say that if it was me I would immediately go to my primary care doctor. And if anything happens before that I would immmediately go to the emergency room. I hope you get better very soon.

I stumbled upon the eye floaters procedure EyeFloatersCure45.blogspot.in
while I was online. It was one of the very best things that occurred to me since I was able to reduce the floaters for a low price, which intended they went almost unnoticeable now in comparison to when I did not get this particular treatment yet.?

how long does the surgery take? how did it feel to have a retinal tear? did you see floaters ?
    thanks

    • @joesmith34
      @joesmith34 4 года назад +1

@Club Soda. The surgery takes around 45 mins.
With retina detatchment you see a flash or a vertical pink line that passes through the vision..
After say 5 mins you lose the sight in half your eye and see a black shadow, then eventually the vision goes and you see like a mirror for want of a better explanation.
If you do nt get immediate treatment you can lose sight completely.
For many patients the vision is never the same after surgery. Some patients can end up with just 20% vision.
There are 3 types of surgery to repair a detached retina . Laser, Silicone , or gas.
After suegery you must stay in doors. Your doctor will prescribe eye drops to be applied.
It is also important to have your eye pressure monitored which should be between 12 and 18. An eye drop called Krytantec will maintain the eye pressure at a normal rate.
Some patients after having a serious tear of the retina can also suffer a hole in the macular..
One final point is that the patient will have to have a lense inserted.
So I hope this info has helped.
Finally Why does a retina detatch.?
Well there is no answer for that. People who have been shortsighted all their lives and are seniors are prone to suffer a detatched retina which are of a small percentage.
It s got nothing to do with your arteries or high blood pressure or anything like that.
One is in the lap of the Gods. So if you are short sighted please have a check..
