Yeah… I really hope High Elves get a big rework like they’ve done for some of the other older factions during the WH3 cycle. My Tyrion Vortex and Teclis ME campaigns in WH2 were some of my favorite. And lore-wise Teclis is supposed to be the single most powerful living spellcaster in the setting.
I stayed in Cathy. I haven’t played a faction in that region until I started Gelt’s new campaign.

My first game with her, I teleported right near Vlad and destroyed him before turn 10 😂😂 chillest campaign ever afterwards. I was so absurdly strong and got to confederate Karl😂 she's wild
i hope Malekith and teclis get reworked to have something interesting, those two are such lore filled and cool characters that dont deserve to be super vanilla. I wonder if malekith can get a "evil" version of karls mechanic and dominate to force confederation of other dark elf factions via war or taking their capitol or maybe he can attack dark elfs without declaring war which could be him "punishing" factions for not listening to him. or use actions that cripple them but strengthen his own faction like imagine u use "demand tributes" and click on another darkelf owned settlement and it damages all the buildings but gives u money or slaves or something. It would be cool for the characters like karl that are undisputed rulers of their races to get a more empire building unification and focus on the race as a whole like malekith, thorgrim, settra etc
SFO gave Malekith special stuff for conquering Ulthuan, too. Id feel that would go more along his campaign, especially since he has no issue conquering/confeding other dark elves. And you will almost always be gunning for Ulthuan sooner or later. If they'll really do End Times stuff, Malekith can have bonuses for being Phoenix King if he controls high and wood elf lands.
Teclis has a lot of army abilities and better spells afaik in SFO, too. And a focus on mages which Gelt got now, so maybe the idea came from SFO in the first place. Or not, its not an idea that is hard to think of. Either way, agreed. Even elven dlc lords are often meh when it comes to their mechanics.
Alith and Malus are strong, but not flashy. Imrik and Rakarth are the most fun Id say. They get to do something special, and its also something driving a campaign. Hellebron and Alariellle kinda meh. Base lords got nothing going on, Morathi with a pinch of Slaanesh.. she could/should have more. Eltharion units are good, but his prison got almost nothing on Grom's cauldron. Sisters also lost out against Throt on campaign mechanics badly. Orion would have nothing if not for his wh3 tweak of cheapening armies. Drycha fine, Durthu strong but has nothing besides reworked treeman traits everyone else also has, obviously.
Elves just got the short end of the stick in every dlc ever featuring them, even when it was elves vs elves. I get that theyre unpopular with the nerds who constantly shout 'kill all knife ears', but at least High Elves can be considered a popular race with the 'normie masses' who play the game. DE would be better if they didnt give their slave mechanics to Chorfs...
would you consider doing a army guide for empire and dwarf would love to see your thoughts on how to use new units best tactics etc especially considering chnages to gunpowder. either way great video. :)
I have done this campaign a couple times, but never even thought to take a non-Cathayan city to keep a presence over there. Great idea! Waiting longer to teleport is a cool idea also, chances are some combination of Marienburg, Middenheim, and all the empire states to the east will be taken or a mess by turn 15 or 20 anyways, allowing you to be opportunistic. I like to keep Karl and Elspeth alive to help out in the general defense of the area, you will get pressure from all directions most of the time.
Great vid! It's actually possible to unite all of Cathay via your alliance if you remain there (being the middleman between them and lizardmen). Clan Eshin made a bit of a mess in the centre, the wall fell to Chaos, but we pushed back. On the western front, I first dealt with Helman and Kuggie, then I had to deal with Grimgor. Two fronts became one and now I'm just steamrolling. Having an amethyst and a celestial wizard with Geld really helped.

I have to play so many factions. First Elspeth, then Malakai, Gelt, Franz amd i have finaly give Nurgle a try.
Ya just know Tyrion and Teclis are gonna get the same treatment as Franz and Gelt and I hope Queek and Skrolk do as well, I hope this game goes on well into the next decade gd it!

Ya, just so everyone knows, if you opt to not teleport to the empire to get the bonuses and then buddy up with Mr. Dragon man, it gets HARD. You automatically get into a defensive alliance with dragon man, and due to that, by turn 25, I was at war with squid-face dark elf, sneakiest stab rat, the evilest of conjoined twins, da biggest orc, and king stink of nurgle. The only reason zombie vamp man wasn't at war with me too was because he peace treatied with me when Ku'gath pushed out and after a few turns, Ghorst was dead.
I sometimes forget the game has suitable climates, since I always play with a mod that gets rid of them. It's a pain to get strategically restricted on what regions you can expand into just because of your starting race. It's a pain gameplay wise and it kind of doesn't make sense in a lore way, as I don't see the Elves for example killing all women/childs on a orc city for example.

There are no orc women. And i don't know if there are even orc children? If there were I would still see elves slaughtering them.
@@kman12275Orcs in fantasy are fungus people just like 40k, so no there aren’t any orc children or women unless you’re talking about blood bowl universe orcs.
Elves would totally just genocide the orcs and leave their settlements smoking ruins before going back to Ulthuan.
Orcs are living fungus, they grow from spores, so while it might not be pretty to execute every last man in an Orc settlement to raze it, even the High Elves would probably do it as the “least evil” means to cleanse the world.
Elspeth is the most powerful Empire LL on battlefield, but her main strenght comes from ger faction mechanics. Geld is just a jack of all traits.
There is a difference between faction power and lord power. Because a faction has steong mechanics does not make the LL strong.
I get smoked by skaven and dark elves when I try to stay in Cathay
Can you sell the most special settlement to an unfriendly faction that you are about to declare war on and then take the Cathay's offer and then recruit an army near that settlement and then attack it and take it for yourself?
Yes. But you need to be able to win with no starting army (because they’ll be in the empire). And you need to win before your dragon bro win.

Karl is better if you take it slow.
