- Cendol Agar-agar Jelly is an improvisation from the Cendol dessert, a very popular dessert in Malaysia. This agar-agar jelly is easy to make and also very delicious.
Design inspired by @LittleDucksKitchen
Important tips and updates:
1. This recipe is not that sweet. If you like it sweet, can add more gula melaka and brown sugar.
2. This jelly is slightly on the softer side. The firmness of the agar-agar jelly depends on the water amount, if you prefer firmer texture, reduce the water content
3. For cendol that has green colouring, do not add into the Santan / coconut milk when It is Hot. Add In when It has cooled down in the mould at time 1:39 Based on feedback It will stain the coconut milk
❤ Ingredients:
Cendol layer:
5 grams agar-agar powder 燕菜粉 5克

100 grams castor sugar 细砂糖 100克
400 ml water, room temperature 水,室温度 400毫升
2-3 pandan leaves 香兰叶 2-3片
200 ml coconut milk (santan) 椰奶 200毫升 (Shopee Link: shope.ee/8KDLTUcGf4)
1/8 teaspoon salt 盐 1/8茶匙
170 grams ready made cendol ( 1 packet, total weight is 750 grams, net weight 170 grams) 煎蕊 170克 包装写750克,减少包装的水这有170克
Brown layer:
5 grams agar-agar powder 燕菜粉 5克

60 grams brown sugar 红糖60克 (Shopee Link: shope.ee/5KZjxSslFp)
60 grams gula melaka, coconut palm sugar 马六甲椰糖 60克
(this recipe is not that sweet, if you like it sweet, you might want to add brown sugar and gula melaka) 这个食谱不会太甜,如果喜欢吃天的可以加糖
400 ml water, room temperature 水,室温度 400毫升

yes any agar-agar powder should be ok. I also use pearl mermaid brand
are you Indonesian? agar-agar jelly merk swallow is common used in Indonesia, we can find it even in a small shop. And btw cendol also comes from Indonesia.

Tried this yesterday when I cut today the bottom layer light brown not really stick together may I know why
Hi there, thanks for trying my recipe. When you pour in the light translucent brown layer, make sure the bottom layer is not totally solidified, as long as a thin film is formed, you can pour in the next layer. When you touch it, it will feel bouncy. Once it solidifies, it wont stick. Hope this helps 😊
Mine the transparent brown was good attached only the one brown mix with coconut didn't attach dear
okies, before pouring in the coconut milk layer, the transparent layer also cannot totally solidify, just form a thin film will do.
