One of my favourite greatest 90s Essential Mixes ever the legendary LTJ Bukem feat M C Konrad drum n bass on a karma level yes 28 yrs on even in 2024 Timeless masterpiece
No other essential mix gave me goose bumps as much as this one. Still to this day as fresh as it was back then. Bukem and Conrad really were the best DJ/MC act in Jungle/Drum n Bass. No act will top them. So sad to hear about Conrad's death - gutted and devastated. He was the same age as me. I always wished Bukem and Conrad would do it again, at least one more time. Thanks for the memories Conrad, you really were the best.
Listening to this, as I remember my very recently departed best friend Misha Volkov. He was the first person to introduce me to LTJ Bukem way back in 2006. We spent the waking mornin after a sesh/gig mashed. Like 6 o clock he wips this mix out and makes us sit there and listen to it, without talking shit....Just listen. It was the best way I could imagine being introduced to it as he was so deep into it already so he could break it down for us and be like...WHAT THE FUCK this is a game changer for us. The complexity of the beats, the variety in underlying tones. The amazing McConrad vocals, all while coming down and slowly feeling a bit crap...this brought the vibe right back to the top. LTJ is to this day is prob my fav DnB Dj (for good reason, he is the godfather of Liquid DnB afterall). Fuckin Class, R.I.P Buddy. This ones for you mate. See ya on the other side to do this all again some day I hope xox
Thanks for sharing that lovely memory, and your bud sounds like a stellar dude. No doubt he's kicking some sick jams on the other side while waiting for ya 🤘
I recorded one of the greatest 90s Essential mixes ever from 1996 Ltj Bukem feat Mc Conrad logical Progression brilliant chill out drum n bass Ltj Bukem is a legend of Drum n bass he took it to chill out direction even in 2023 this legendary mix brings you back down chills you out
I love the come down drive to one of the underrated greatest 90s Drum n bass ambient chill out mixes ever by the legendary LTJ Bukem feat M C Konrad on Radio one Essential Mixes ever courtesy of Pete Tong
I remember leaving a club night to go home early so i could record this set back in the day, and to this day, this is still one of my all time fav mixes
I been djíng since 97, and i still havent heard a dj with so crazy skills as LTJ. i have never heard him to be untight EEEVER!!! and its hard with so many atmopheres as its so obvious if he slows or push a record to beatt match... he´s insanely talented!!! i have about 40-50 vinnyls from good looking/looking good/360/cookin`/logical progression /progression sessions!
I've had this on cassette for 25 years and boy am I glad to find this upload. There's never a bad time to play this absolute classic mix. And what's great is I never had the end of the set because the tape ran out! What a treat the end now is!
Yes my friend even in 2024 LTJ Bukem feat the brilliant MC Conrad coming back in 1996 on Radio one Pete Tongs Essential Mix and like many back in the day recording or listening to many mixes, I think alot fans have already agreed this one of the greatest 90s Essential Mixes ever
Had an experience like no other to this video a couple of months ago. There I was sitting in class, about 8:30 in the morning and I had stayed up all night, only even awake off of the buzz of a mug of coffee and the sheer discomfort of the position I was in. I wasn't able to nap mid-class but I was completely exhausted, no way I could work on school work, so I took to youtube with my headphones in to find some music to listen to. I ended up stumbling upon this video, knowing I'd be in for a treat with a mix by LTJ Bukem I hadn't heard before, but what I wasn't expecting was to be completely entranced by the driving footage in the video. As the tracks in the mix flowed into each other, and afternoon turned to night in the video I had completely zoned out of the class and I was in this dreamlike state with my eyes still open, it was like I was actually there exploring the outside world driving on this road that's unfamiliar yet not too different from roads I've driven on all the time. I always knew I enjoyed driving around listening to music, but this video made me realize that there truly is something special to it. Later that day, even though I had only caught a few minutes of shut-eye throughout the school day, I decided to take a drive around my town and to some areas I don't normally drive through, and I put on an Intelligent D&B Mix made by Blu Mar Ten with a similar vibe to that of this Essential mix. I also put the heat on to keep warm as it was winter at this point. That experience driving around with the music in the warmth wasn't all too different from what I felt watching this video in class.
Touching on some of the previous comments. LTJ’s mixing is next level his pitch control & the way he heats up the crossfader. By far my favourite ever set by a Jungle/ DNB artists. Would have loved to have been in the studio hearing this live. Mc Conrad is another conversation!! A combination light years ahead of the game. @mcmanaki
Always recorded the essential mixes, late 90s early 00s, still have most of the cassettes today, only a handful will always stand out for me, this was one that i played so much, and im a house and techno head mainly, i had some people in my car one time, out for a smoke etc, next day couldn't find this tape, asked the boys if they knew where it went, nothing. Gutted! I'd lost it. totally pissed that it was gone, wasnt until a bit of time passed, was out in the car of one of the lads who was with me that night and noticed my cassette was in his glove box, i was fucking screwing, said to him thats my tape, he swore blind it wasn't, i lost my rag, got out the car with my tape and told him to go fuck himself, didnt see him again, got this mix back, happy man again! dont mess with a man and his music! This is up there as one of the best mixes, absolute class. Legend of a DJ/producer and legendary MC RIP Conrad 👊
Earl Grey's remix of Intense is a real piece of work at 22:30 Hard to fathom these tracks are almost 30 years old. They're either timeless pieces of wax or time travel was involved.
Absolutely peerless mix, LTJ is a sublime DJ Producer, somehow channels the music like no other. Saw him 5 times last year. His set at Outernet almost finished me. No boy test 😎
MC Conrad added so much to this it's like leading you into parts where you really start feeling it, like during Hypersleep which is a great track but these vocals really elevate it
@@robdela3632 That's unfortunate for you 😞 Perhaps try listening on different equipment, see if you can hear it better? MC Conrad was perfect for Bukem sets, generally, and most people who saw them together recognised this. It's a shame it ended.
I've said this so many times.. these bbc essential mixes with Danny and Conrad are 'perfect" from start to end. Wish they could release a vinyl version like the Amy Winehouse sessions.
this is was my first drum and base music I have bought on CD in 2002! It was then listened t0 many times everywhere I travel - to the sea, in my car, at home ! Also was another great mix on that CD - 2stepmix by LTJ bukem!! Thanks!
The development arc of that period from the Amen-led jungle of the Kenny Ken era, into fully-fledged drum and bass, was fascinating to be around. The jazzy scene ran right alongside the darker Metalheadz-style vibe but they both had mad respect for each other. It was such a free and easy time. You could check out Doc Scott on the Friday and Roni Size on the Saturday and probably see some of the same faces.
IMO, one of the best mixes ever. Possibly THE best. MC Conrad's rapping over Universal's "Groove Therapy" is amazing, true MCing harking back to the MCs of the Bronx in the early days of Hip Hop. But seriously, this whole mix is hands down one of the greatest things ever made. Love from the U.S!
Oh god, i looked for this set long time,i have it on cassete...it was always special to me...Ltj and Conrad was perfect here and music...everything👌❤️🙂 Thank you for upload!
I love that moment at 10:44 when the car is passing under the bridge and at the very same moment you hear the seagull sample. :) Beautiful mix, much love to Bukem & Conrad.
Close to my personal all-time favorite session of LTJ Bukem & MC Conrad - their live Show in the T-Mobile Electronic Beats Stage in 2002 - still around on RUclips (approx, half an hour) - make sure to check it out too!!!
I was 20 when I used to listen to this and was obsessed with the mix at 22:01 It was driving me crazy what that tune coming in was.. few weeks later it was released seba&Lotek So Long. When I got that tune I recreated that mix almost everytime and I'd turn around to my mates thinking how great I was...they prob thought what a dick cause everyone had been listening to it for weeks lol... i have both these tunes...fuck, nearly all, packed away in my garage. I bet my grandson will enjoy them when im in the ground. first we go this way then we go that way
There’s lots of good essential mixes but this is the daddy. The sequence of Intense Only You/Subject 13 Faith/ DJ Crystal Mindgames that starts at about 01:11:00 must be one of the finest in dance music history 😍
I’m new to this guy, but I’m learning about more than I thought I might. Anyone care to divulge some technical information about what I’m hearing? The mixes are more than seamless, the MCs effects are integrated with the music etc. Live in the 90s... I’m having a hard time imagining how this kind of complexity is even possible.
Most djs have a sense of time but bukem is flawless. And when you have a smart mc that knows when to speak, it creates something new, these are originals but the way they are blended make them sound heavily remixed. One thing to realize about this era is these dance tracks are so different, so diverse but bukem places them so elegantly that it all feels perfect. There is a reason why the name logical progression stuck, the entire mix, hours of it just makes musical sense
Honestly, probably a good music playlist to get high or do psychedelics cause it's so easy to get lost in the sound and the driving of the music. But I wouldn't know because I don't do drugs and never did.

Rest in power MC Conrad who sadly passed away today. This is an iconic mix, his art lives on

Playing it today for my birthday. 28 years ago to the day on my 47th 😊🙏♥️
It's 2019 and this music still sounds light years ahead of what we hear today.
...creating my whole LIFE.
behold the masters of hardware. before computers made everyone sound like babies with baby rattlers

Sure does brother👊

I'll never forget Pete calling him LTJ 'Buck-ham' first time around...

I used to do the same. I would get so excited if a dj was going to be on I wanted to hear, I couldn't relax all night until I hit 'rec'!!
2024?! are you ready for listening two legends? ♥
I love this mix, especially the first track. It set the tone of the mix perfectly.
Musique du passé…du présent …et surtout DU FUTUR , elle évolue tout en gardant sa base 👏🏿👏🏽👏🏼👏🏻🔊🥁🥁🥁📡💥💨💎🌬️🚀💊

Watch Bukem mix..he just uses pitch control to speed it up or slow down
far out, man
Yup, along with Peshay, probably the tightest mixer I’ve heard
First saw him in 93 - checked him 5 times in the last year. No boy test 😎

Nice to hear Pete pronounced Bukem correctly in this one 😁
This hands down is one of Bukem's best sets. He sure knew what time it was in this mix.
Still listening in 2021
Late summer 2022!
Touching on some of the previous comments. LTJ’s mixing is next level his pitch control & the way he heats up the crossfader. By far my favourite ever set by a Jungle/ DNB artists.

He's a fucking master. He can construct a journey unlike anyone else, and seamlessly.
Long live the king. LTJ Bukem.

So true ❤
This was when life was CRUSHING man god if we could only go back. We never need to progress past this point.
As I said to Bryan G outside Fabric a few months back - he is part of the crew that lifted us to peak humanity. His answer, "oh that's cool" 🤣😎
The greatest set I ever heard. Still transforms my surroundings and inner being after 24 years.
This is on Point I must admit.
Absolutely peerless mix, LTJ is a sublime DJ Producer, somehow channels the music like no other. Saw him 5 times last year. His set at Outernet almost finished me. No boy test 😎

One thing i'll never forget for the rest of my life: dancing to Bukem and Conrad at Dreamscape.
Special times :)
1st time hearing this , it’s immense.
I've said this so many times.. these bbc essential mixes with Danny and Conrad are 'perfect" from start to end. Wish they could release a vinyl version like the Amy Winehouse sessions.
You're listening to LTJ bu-km tonight at BBC Radio One.
3:30 Driver was already so lost in the tunes they turned right into a one-way street.
You mean "right" as into the one-way street or the direction they turned? Where even is the driver in? Hamilton, Ontario?
A moment in history. Sheer magic.
RIP Conrad, I saw Bukem last month.

amazing mix - up to this day unsurpassed
3:34 that’s the wrong way mate

Absolutly no digital rubbish here, just one of the worlds best dj's, two analogue turntables, a mixer, and an mc.
And MC Conrad over tychonic cycle!🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥
Brilliant timeless chill out DNB mix
Thank you very much for this!!!!!!!!
amazing mix
Saw these two perform live in Portland and in Japan
so dope, Baltimore!
king of music
Honestly, probably a good music playlist to get high or do psychedelics cause it's so easy to get lost in the sound and the driving of the music. But I wouldn't know because I don't do drugs and never did.
what does it say about how massive a mix this is, that we are still going back to it in 2021?
+ 2024
Great mix but it's a shame about the multiple cut-outs. There's one around the 49:40 mark and then again at 1:17:30
And again at 1:22:48
The cut-outs seem to start back up where they left off, so although annoying, at least none of the actual set is lost.
And at 1:59:23...im thankful for it all .
New post, RUclips needs to stop interrupting black music with stupid ads. The ONLY reason Y.T. is doing it is ANTI-SPIRIT.🛑
Does the sound go out for anyone else around minute 52?
I remember recording this it was my favourite
27.00 that's what you call a tune🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥
BIG UP DJ SHARKEY DJ PATMAN AND ALL THE FLE X FM CREW

Magic ❤
night ride & jungle, a total ace
Cuts out at the best bit
MUTED 46 TO 1 07 MIN IN . IVE PLAYED THE HELL OUT OF THIS MIX FOR YEARS AMAZING STUFF TOP 5 ESSENTAIL MIXES OFF ALL TIME FOR ME. ! I GOT DETENTION IN FRENCH CLASS FOR LISTENING TO IT WHICH I CLEARLY JIBBED OFF AND GOT THE BUS HOME LOL
It's paused rather than muted, I think. Each time it starts back up from where it stopped.
theres a huge gap in this set from 50 mins in to 1.07 like they toke 2 tracks out or somthing so its incomplete i have a version where theres an issue at the start in the first hour aswell
I've seen this on some other essential mixes. RUclips seems to "mute" parts of these sessions which have copyrighted material.
Does it actually miss any tunes? Seems to me that it just pauses the soundtrack and then when it starts back up, it starts from where it had stopped.
Are the caps in this mix ment to be there or is it just me
great mix
1:42:00 Axis "High Point". What a tune!
Wicked mate 👍
had this on tape, sadly parts are muted
I found so many songs similar to logical progression through youtube music its worth the 13$
watched the whole thing
Back in 96
This is awesome!! NO SOUND AFTER 49:43 ???? !!!
Ya check check one 2! Thank you!
I knew the highway looked familiar. Someone lives in the dmv.
Baltimore
3:33 they turned the wrong way down a one way lmao
something about this music paired with urban landscapes is so aesthetically pleasing. I think the various repeating elements of the highway are reminiscent of the music, and vice versa. is the car in your vids a porsche?
Always a journey
