WWII Veteran with Alzheimer's visited by Army Band

- LTC. C.O. Bell is a WWII Veteran with early stages of Alzheimer's. His daughter read that music from the person's era growing up, tends to spark memories. So for Christmas, she decided to invite members of an Army Band out to play for him as a present. Which they did... on his front lawn. Watch and see how the power of music helps spark joy into a WWII Veteran's eyes.
Imagine going through 3 wars... how many brothers-in-arms you would have lost, only to survive yourself. Only respect for this man.

For those moments I was eternally grateful it helped me cope with the countless days when she would stare at my face often struggling to remember who I was. @St. Petersberg joining the military is good. If you don't want to die, don't be in infantry, or spec ops. Do radar, be a mechanic, do a technical position. I'm joining the army, as a 91b Light vehicle mechanic. I'll be trained to kill, just like everyone else. But guess what, I won't be the one clearing out houses. It's all about the choices you make, and what position and branch you choose.
Plus the 8-10 years of free college doesn't hurt
Was he in the Marines? I know the marines have airmen but usually close support roles. Would be interesting to find out if he flew and what he was flying. Over the course of those 3 wars he could have flown P-47, F4U, and A-1 Skyraiders.

@Hate Is Love
I wouldn’t consider Heroshima and Nagasaki war crimes seeing as we were preventing further civilian and non-civilian casualties
The reason why they did so much damage is that the Japanese government would not let people evacuate and would not surrender even after we dropped pamphlets in Japanese telling them to leave immediately.
Even after we dropped Little Boy, we had to drop one more bomb to get them to surrender, therefore, ending the war.
What I’m saying is, it was more Japan’s fault for the amount of casualties than it was for the U.S

@@krynczu704 No he wasn't. That was said after the Battle of Britain.
ImpendingJoker there were polish and Czechoslovakian pilots in the Battle of Britain
Yankee Yes, but they weren’t all there were. Churchill was referring to all pilots who flew during the battle of britain
@@Gotobar I wasn't saying that there weren't any other pilots I was just correcting the other guy that was saying that there weren't any polish pilots.
Even tho I am 4years late this is still so wholesome
Well earned sir
Well earned
I respect this man within my soul she is lucky for having and honorable father such as he.
Inglorious Bastard God bless.
Those smiles, those men should be so proud of themselves, honoring one of their own. He came alive because of their talent.
This man just wont quit will he, bouncing around and dancing😁😁 Thankyou for your service sir
My great grandfather also served in WWII, Korea, and Vietnam in the United States Navy, Pemberton Southard.
My great uncle US Army, died 1945 KIA
My great grandfather served in WWII as well, he was a pilot, he was shot down KIA. I haven’t asked my grandad about him much but I’m eager to know more.
@@haydenxmill I wouldn't know how to handle this since the only military service in my family I know about, is my dad serving in the army for 4 years, not much to talk about. But maybe you should ask and learn as much as you can.
@ThatCrazy Drunk Exactly, ask before it's too late for him to tell you.
As a Army Vet this brings tears to my eyes,God bless the greatest generation
Imagine being bullied in school and telling your bully, “my dad has fought in 3 wars. You better back off” and it wasn’t a bluff...
Not one single hollow stare. You rekindled his memories and his heart. Truly amazing gift. Well done everyone. And thank you Sir for everything you’ve sacrificed for me.
He's happy, and that's all that really matters. It's good that the band came out for him.
Glad to see my southern neighbor is patriotic as ever! Live from Canada🇨🇦❤️
Because of him... and many others.... Greatest Country Ever... May God bless us all...
What an amazing gift for your dad to hear the music he served so long for and to see the light in his eyes as he listens to the young Marines play for him. Your dad is so handsome and deserves to have happy memories to remember.
Yeah. The Army has that color scheme for their. . . more formal outfits.
The look on his face fills me with joy. God bless the service men and women of the US. This was nice
He went through WW2, Korea war & Vietnam war. We salute him. Simply the best..
So handsome. Can't believe he served in 3 wars. God Bless.
"thank you for your service sir"
"thank you for not letting me and my fallen brothers' efforts go to waste!"
Amazing He looked like he was having a ball! My mum suffers it too being at the acute range where she doesnt recognize anything going on whatsoever! But i always believe shes still in there! Im a current serving serviceman in the Australian Army in Townsville QLD and fought battles and respect and understand to some degree what he must of dealt with and it can be hard Cheers...
Im sorry to hear about your mother although youre not in my country i thank you for your service sir
Thank you and God bless ALL of the veterans and service members of the U.S. and our allies.
As a current serving member in the Australian ADF i concur with your sentiment especially with the strong ties between Australia and the USA regarding troops and support. I've worked with the MRF-D 19 arguably the best of the rest here in the Northern Territory as they are stationed in Darwin and your have some fine soldiers same for the UK Canada Nz ect. Cheers...
This is one of the nicest, most wholesome recommended vids I’ve ever gotten. The veteran is great. Thanks RUclips for recommending this.
THis is the most inspirational thing I've seen in a while. You can see the light come back into his eyes and face. This is a gift to him that will last. God bless LTC Bell and the Soldiers in the Band.
