Couple's own Paris-Dakar using Land Rover transformer-camper

  • Brice grew up in Morocco overlanding across Africa in 4x4s and 6x6s. When he met his wife Irina they organized off-road trips across the “land of the pharaohs, and Lawrence of Arabia”, but soon realized that as a couple they wanted more overnight comfort so they turned their Land Rover into an quick-transforming micro camper.
With the press of a button, the standard car pops up and out and in 43 seconds becomes a tiny home complete with kitchen, toilet and indoor shower. To take advantage of the limited size within a standard wheelbase, the couple placed a lot on tracks: the dining table/benches slide to make room for a shower stall (rainshower fixture included); the toilet slides out from within the stall. With the push of other buttons, the bed drops down from the ceiling on wires and the back rack drops down into an instant deck.
To create a comfortable off-grid experience, the entire roof of the car is covered in solar panels which provide all of the campers’ electrical needs. The stove runs on the same diesel from the car’s tank to keep things simple and easy to access in remote regions.
The couple named their car, and company, Wild Fennec after a nocturnal fox of the Saharan desert and they are selling their vulpine vehicle for 50,000 euros.

Verry nice, as long one is no forced, for what ever reason; to leave as fast as posible , the place where one spends the night. I was a couple of times in that situation. Places that are remote and look nice in daylight, have sometimes an atraction to people who don't like daylight and do there things in remote places. Further, I don't like canvas on cars for remote traveling. That's for tents. So, it's as save as a tent. An expensive tent. Yes, I have a Unimog with a roof that go's up and no canvas. And , yes, I hit sometimes branches of trees. But there's the thing builded for, solid. And I never was forced to leave a place for... a tree . A probleme with gliding and moving things is that it's difficult to make it solid, and 4x4 drive is over roads that are not realy, euh.. roads. Trembling is not good for those nice gliders, as is dust not a good friend. And when it functions perfect as new in the workshop, the slightest deformation, makes that gliding a not gliding probleme. So, nice , a good idea and come back after five years on non-roads.

This is the 4x4 Swiss Knife! I really like all this engineering, I'm working since month now on our 4x4 home, we are travelling the world for 4 years now on two motorcycle with dog in the sidecar. Bought this year our Land Cruiser and I'm "transforming" it on the way while travelling, not to fancy with electrical slide outs etc.
    Well done!

BRAVO!!!!! I'm certain you have inspired many, including manufacturers to try to accomplish your use of space, in still a small space. I APPLAUD YOU BOTH for not only your work and inspiration, but your dedication to living the life you wish for. In all the world, isn't that the wish of every man?

I love this Defender conversion! Some great ideas and still kept as simple as possible.
Although I’ve just finished my 110 Overlander just two years ago - well, as far as a car like this can be called „finished“ 😜 - this video gives me a lot to think about 🤔🤔🤔.
Guess I’d better not show the vid to my wife, I already now her first word’s „no, no, you’re not going to do that again. Don’t you dare to start a new project!!!“
    Congratulations to this build!!!

This thing is a genius design, probably the best RV-thing I have ever seen. This is something that I would probably get if I were into the RV lifestyle to be honest, seems like the best approach. You are essentially just driving around in an SUV which is a lot nicer than driving around in a big truck or van, and you have a nice cozy little living space with everything you could need.
Everything about this is just cool, I love the little porch that he has, the use of space, the whole thing is setup to transform around whatever your needs are and it's all stuff that shifts around general camping/living throughout the day.
