Holy crap, can't remember the last time you were this excited about a figure. I love the original King Kong film, easily on my top 10 films so I'm super happy that they included a more classic head with this and I can't wait to get a hold of it. My only issue I see with this figure is that he doesn't scale well with Neca's Godzilla figures.
Some of the best double elbows I've seen on a NECA figure. And thank goodness, in this case. I've seen Kong figures that can't even beat their chests, and that's a sad sight.

My main complaints are the rather awkward looking knee and elbow joints. He's also a little on the lanky side. Overall, he's a solid figure. Definitely looks like he's gonna be worth picking up. I agree NECA usually does kill it with the sculpt but unfortunately I have had so many quality control issues and figures break so easily that I quit collecting them. And it's not minor stuff like paint, I've had figures with the wrong feet and stuff glued on backwards. 😞
Better hurry with the Godzilla's on the shelves, cause they'll be gone soon...since NECA isn't making Godzilla's anymore. They no longer have the license.
Damn! I totally need to get this Kong figure to go with the rest of my Kongs and Godzilla figures, I hope Neca goes for the 2017 Skull island Kong and 2021, one day too!
Like Unparalleled said, this is for real an *_amazing_* figure. I've been playing around with it for weeks now, and still lovin' it. You don't have to be a Kong fan to love it. I actually like it better than the McFarlane, Mezco and even the MonsterArts Kong. So if you don't wanna use it in your Godzilla display (doesn't matter he's taller to me), then they can always be whatever gorilla you want them to be.

Definitely have that awesome memory at Universal Studios in Hollywood with going on the King Kong ride. Mom paid to get my picture taken with lookin' like Kong was holding me.
Yeah the eyes are too close together, which is accurate but still goofy looking. That second screaming headsculpt is badass though, and when lit from above hides the eyes a little more. If i see this in stores, its a definite pick up!
If NECA can't get the license to do a '62, '76, '86 etc. Kong; I hope they'll release at least a few more versions. Maybe a slightly stockier Kong or repaint with a closed mouth head. But hopefully they'll be able to fill the absence of Godzilla with more of them. And I'd be nice to get other Kaiju characters besides that Mothra and Rodan we got...unless they can't do those either. Just sucked we never got a single MechaGodzilla. Never picked up any of the MonsterArts ones.

Hi. I have this Neca King Kong figure also. I tried to put the second head on (the king kong roaring head) the altermate roaring head. The second head though doesn't stay on the body. Do you know if teflon tape would be able to hold the second roaring king kong head on this Figure ? I tried to keep the head on by putting a hot blow dryer on it for more than 10 seconds. That trick doesnt work. Would teflon tape be able to keep the second roaring king kong head connected to his body ??
I just got this figure for my birthday and i’m loving it so much. The screaming and mad face though does not fit. I put it on but if I move it it falls off. I checked and the hole inside is fine. So I’m not sure of I’m not pushing hard enough. But even my dad couldn’t do it. The other head fits but not the mad one which is my favorite. Plz tell me if you know how to fix this.
Same thing happened to me, but the trick is you just have to push it in really hard. Try twisting it on and pushing it on, and eventually it should stay on.
Can he pump his chest? Using his two hands ? Because some of the kingkong figures in the past the issues are they cant pump there chest or their fist or hand cant reach his chest
I prefer NECA's more accurate, classic detailing to Mezco's more stylized, modern take, but that's a purely subjective preference. Articulation, however, is an objective win for NECA. Far better posability and range of motion.
You and d_amazing said the same thing and I just don’t agree. I feel like anyone who has watched or likes the original King Kong would immediately recognize the old school Kong, and love that sculpt. These seems to BIG for POTA. Nice review anyway, really cool to have a Kong. Wasn’t a fan of Mezco’s comic version.
Unparalleled Universe the ones I seen are from 3 years ago and I thought it looked pretty good and I don’t comment much but love the vids and the lives keep up the good work I appreciate the time and effort you put in the videos
They should of made a completely different figure for the original king Kong the face just looks goofy and i passed on this guy cause of that goofy face. If it had a serious snarl closed mouth face it would be a definite buy

I don't do a lot of sh monsters but their Kong was a must get for me that figure is awesome. I got this one and man it rocks!

Honestly, toe articulation would make this a 10/10, but he's a 9.5 as is. One of my favorite figures of 2020.

This is a really great modern interpretation of the original design. It's like what you remember the Kong from the original movie looking like.
