No radio? I have one here you can have for free. Kenwood, AM/FM, Aux in, plays CDs and MP3 CD-ROMs, and it fits the wiring in your Voyager. The volume knob is missing but I'll print one. Pick-up in the Netherlands or I will send it to Germany for free. And if you come to the Netherlands, I highly recommend the Louwman car museum in The Hague because Germany does not have any car museums.
I watched the first of this series due to curiosity about the van, but it has been really interesting to see elements of the culture: food, cars, art, architecture, etc... Well done and thanks!
That Chevy Blazer was also Running on LPG (Propane like a BBQ) . The small black plastic plug on the rear bumper is the cover for the LPG refuelling nozzle
Personally I’d LOVE to see more Euro spec American cars I find it quite interesting. The Chevy Cavalier was rebadged as a Toyota in Japan for example! (Jdm spec example not euro but regardless)Haha
New Zealand is probably the best place to see weord and interesting cars. I'll tell you something interesting about Jeep, when they made the right hand drive models they often couldn't be bothered moving the hand brake (e brake?) over. Consequently the driver must get friendly with the passengers thy to put the handbrake on. 2.bp.blogspot.com/_XQTYxtOqMr8/TC9U7OZgGLI/AAAAAAAADEE/x_Gf0grroA0/s1600/Jeep-Grand_Cherokee_Overland_UK_Version_2008_800x600_wallpaper_0f.jpg
The Blazer is interesting. I remember admiring these in the late 1980s because the size and four doors were interesting. These were SUVs before SUV was a term. I realize that Jeep Cherokees and other makes predate these, but I think that these 1980s GMs initially ignited the explosion of SUVs.
A possible explanation to the jeep, I know someone who brought cars in north America as they are cheaper, shipped them to the UK and as it is easier to register them. Then sold them in main land EU as UK cars can be driven there and they would be left hand drive cars. It was a long process but he sold hundreds of cars like it and wasn't they only person doing it
10:44. they were distributed in europe, but they were a failure due consumption. If you watch it closely, on its rear bumper theres a black cover to the lpg installation. thats the only way to use one of those guzzlers here in europe, keeping the fuelexpense at a diesel level...
Well yes and no. I am Dutch and lived in Belgium as well. English is seen as an important part of education but not everybody speaks English as well as these guys. But this is to be expected if you meet people through an English forum.
I own a voyager ES from 1996 (same style as the one you drive) but 3.3 gas engine. I have it since 1999 and it is in excellent shape. Drives still great all stuff is working and does have a 10 inch stereo in it. My goal is that it gets the H on the number plate for historic vehicle when it reaches 30 years. Note that there was a big quality difference if the van was produced in canada or in austria at magna steyr.
Believe it or not, that side marker on the Blazer is the same part on my Saab 9-5 (and Saab 93's) fender turn signal. The amber was available on 99 and 2000 9-5s, and then they went smoked with orange bulbs. Ah, early GM partsbin.
They did sell the Chevrolet Blazer in the UK for all of about 5 minutes, in right hand drive! I've only ever seen a couple of them, an the last one I seen was broken...
when I was young during the 80's my dad was stationed in Munich, right before we came back to the states while he was deployed my mother bought a s**t brown caravan with the 4 banger. I remember slouching as far down the seat as I could so no one could see me lol
If you can't get the audio to be level while recording, it needs to be fixed in post. I dare you to watch this with headphones on to where to you can hear the Jeep guy for instance and not have your hearing torn up when David talks.
Not only is the blazer Euro spec, it also has an aftermarket CNG system installed so it costs less to run there. (Filler cap right above the N of DANGEROUS before the cut)
Quite a neat journey you're on! Truly wish you had a couple mics for the others you are conversing with. Would have made it much better. Regardless, an awesome video to watch!! Enjoy!
I don't want to knock your taste, but nobody in Belgium actually likes Leffe, it's the mass produced excuse for a proper Abbey Beer. If you like a "Dobbel" beer (like Leffe Bruin) you should try a Chimay Bleu (my preference, it has a blue label) or a Chimay Bruin (it has a red label). Cheers!
@@kennytheamazing My girlfriend brought me one of the Chimays from Brussels, But I can't find it here ;-( I like the brown (or tan) label best of the Chimay that I can get.
@@marksmith9566 Chimay has a Trappist label, meaning it can only be made in limited quantities, it can't be actively exported. Lots of bar owners fly over to Belgium to stock up their luggage with them, apparently. The tan one could either be the tripel (in recent years it's a white label but it used to be tan) or the Gold one, which is a light blonde. Fun fact: The Chimay Gold used to be only available to the monks themselves, it was specially brewed to have a lower alcohol content of "only" 4.8, because drinking the heavier varieties all day ends up with a lot of drunk monks... They only make that in limited quantities, but it is exported to the US and UK in very small batches apparently. Probably because Belgians are bigger fans of the heavier varieties.
The trackless train is (likely) made in Italy. I'm not sure of the manufacturer, but I recall that the two countries that make 90% of the trackless trains like this are China and Italy. Being based on a Land Rover and it being in the EU, it would seem likely that this is an Italian example.
Yeah.... chevy blazers do come in euro spec ..... some also have 6 bolt hubs from isuzu ( usually the RHD models, usually found in Asia; that conforms to UK spec)

The tax on Diesel cars is getting out of hand. I have a 2013 polo that is turned in to a van. Whit the rear seat in place the tax would be over 500 Euros a year. I have registered the polo as a van and removed the rear seat and now the tax is 140 Euros a year
Big swinging objects near the windscreen/rearview mirror train the brain to ignore motion in that part of the screen...so you ignore the motorcyclist, pedestrian etc. It almost makes you guilty of wilful negligence in obstructing your view...
In the past it was actually pretty common for people to take diesel engine from car that rusted out (to the point that welding in new metal was not worth it anymore) and install it in place of a gas engine. At some point most of old American cars were actually converted to diesel that way.
