Hey guys, congrats on the new Jeep! Been a long time follower. I’m a mechanic here and just want to chime in about the shocks recommendation from Firestone. You may not need new shocks if the car is riding fine with no noise or issues. Many shops try to “up sell” their customers for more profits so be careful. Bad shocks will generally have these symptoms: unusual noise, rough ride (bouncy), ride too soft (like a boat), nose dive when braking, uneven tire wear, or visibly be leaking fluid from the shocks (light seep of fluid is still generally ok). Hope that helps and always feel free to reach out to me if you ever have questions! Love the interior of the jeep btw! The seats look like it's still in great shape for the age!

I have owned a Jeep Tj like this RUclipsr, no amount of great shocks will make the Jeep Tj smooth. Maybe if she does a lift kit and shocks. Looks like she has a Sahara edition. The squeel could just be you need a new belt. She's also got a 4.0L inline straight 6. The engines are bulletproof if she does regular maintenance. Also, she should definitely use a spout for the oil change, I always spill without.

Yeah, sames, there is so much joy from getting one of these, also amazing how something breaks, still runs, and it’s great to see someone not get frustrated and just enjoy the challenge. My Jeep’s brake lines rusted out, I built all new brake lines, very challenging, in the end, the nipples were so rusted out, had to take it to the shop to get it all installed.

RUclips algorithm sent me here. You got yourself a pretty spotless Wrangler! The 4.0L in them will last you forever if properly taken care of. Along with the shocks, do replace the front steering stabilizer, basically the horizontal shock upfront by the front differential. Replacing this and checking your front ball joints should help eliminate that wobble you mentioned earlier. :)

    • @gw7579
      @gw7579 Год назад

I remember the absolutely extraordinary feeling I had when I got my first TJ almost 4 years ago. Its almost magical, and this is before a person even has any idea what a Jeep can really do, especially an old one. I had never really pined for one as much as I was curious about them. Found myself in a spot where I needed a new ride, I didnt want another giant bro truck but I wanted something with 4x4 for around $10k, so I looked at a TJ. The first time I drove it I felt like "this is the thing that has been missing from my life." Ill do everything in my power to ensure that I will have one of these for the rest of my life. If you love that Jeep and make sure it knows, it will literally love you back. Super reliable if they are maintained and not overly abused, which they will tolerate a lot of.

You truly look relaxed and happy reinvigorating you Jeep. I just bought my 1st Jeep JK (2012 Rubicon 2D) as a 3rd vehicle for day trips like mountainbiking and skiing. I may do some light offroading, but I've kinda done that to death in a previous life. Anyway, I went through the same deep cleaning and simple upgrades, tires, lights, stereo and some stickers to make it mine. I removed the rear seat completely which makes a 2 door much more functiobnal. Good luck with your new toy. Looking forward to your upcoming adventure vids.

Congratulations. I have a 2003 TJ 4.0 liter since new. I love it and despite some flaws will never get rid of it. 163,300+ miles since new. About the shaking when driving, it may be the Jeep death wobble. From experience, go to a reputable 4X4 shop, not Firestone for the best repair solution. I wasted time and money with people that did not know what they were doing but once I found a good shop, 4X4Parts it got fixed correctly, including replacing a badly installed lift.

Almost a year ago now. I got my first ever car. Which is a 2002 Jeep Wrangler TJ manual stick shift. And it is very dusty and falling apart compared to yours, but it is honestly a dream car of mine, and you found such a good one in such good shape! I love Jeeps❤

Welcome to Jeep life! Great vid and I share your excitement and enthusiasm. Like you, my Jeep was my dream car (not a Ferrari or Porsche). It truly is a way of life and I think the two of you will enjoy wheeling, camping and wrenching on your Jeep.
A couple of things, though, for your viewers and for you, too, in the future. Whenever you purchase a used vehicle, have it inspected (if you're handy and confident in your mechanical and diagnostic skills, you can do it yourself) by a mechanic. I, personally, would not have taken that long a road trip without having my belts and hoses inspected, brakes inspected, oil changed (engine and transmission) and an OBDII code reading.
Also, carry a basic tool kit with some extra fuses, tire pressure gauge, portable battery jumper, portable air compressor, high temp tape, gaskets and clamps to do on the spot hose repairs, extra belts, and at least a quart of oil and some coolant. And carry another bag with a hat, sweatshirt or jacket, sun block, insect repellent, and a blanket just in case.
The TJ Sahara is a beautiful Jeep and I love the extra factory body cladding. Keep it stock or lifted and either way, it will look great. Get a bikini top and tonneau cover for your rig when you take the top off. If you haven't tried driving with the top and doors off, you're in for a big surprise (and addiction!).

Hello! Just came across this video and as the proud owner of a 1997 Jeep Wrangler TJ Sahara Moss Green, Jeep’s name for my favorite color, I thoroughly enjoyed watching your video and excitement over your Jeep purchase! It was a lot of fun watching and I’m looking forward to seeing more videos of you and your Jeep!

7:12 Ok being a Jeep owner myself I was already enjoying the video through your excitement. But then I saw that you guys have a Vanagon too! Literally my 2 favorite vehicles! I Have a 2003 TJ and had (was forced to sell) an 82 Westfalia camper van. 10:44 HA! I called that out when you stopped on the road and heard the loud noise. Bad belt tensioner bearings.

My parents used to have a 2002 Jeep just liked this one in green. My mother sold it to a family friend in June 2017. It had a plow attachment for it to plow snow. It was 15 years old when she sold it. It didn’t have too many miles on it. My father had it worked on and even a tire replaced on it. It was an automatic so that I can drive it or my sister, too.

Loved seeing how happy your new Jeep makes you. I bought my 2000 Jeep TJ in red last year in Florida and drove it home to Wisconsin. It was a fun road trip with the top down.

for steering wheel cover, I used one that came folded like in a rectangular shape, and can mold easily to a circular steering wheel shape.. the best thing about it, is that it doesn't add girth to the steering wheel and it almost feels like it doesn't have a cover...

Nice video. Congrats on the Jeep. Been driving Jeeps for 40 years and watching your video reminded me of how I felt when I got my first CJ back in 1981. Enjoy all the ups and downs of Jeep ownership. Remember - Jeep = Just empty every pocket. 😉

One more thing. I heard from many mechanics not to use synthetic oil on the 4.0L. remember this is a very old-school engine. Use the normal thing 20W-40W. Modern thin oils are not gently for this engine. Also change those belts, change the differentials oils. transfer case too.

I am glad the vehicle made it back, always watch your temp. and oil gauge if they are off, pull over immediately, better to tow than blow.

Love this so much! Brings back memories of when my uncle drove me everywhere in his ‘99 Jeep Cherokee - manually rolling down the windows and static-y radio of Chinese news on 1400 AM and 80s/90s music on 96.5 FM KOIT.
