You are the ONLY person on the internet showing how to open this specific type of key! It's fairly obvious but when I tried to pry it did not come open very easily so I stopped in case I was breaking it. It turned out I just needed to use a tiny bit more pressure and it popped open. I just needed some reassurance I was doing the right thing. Even the Honda manual does not show how to do this!! Thank you VERY much!!
this is the only video that applied to my 2015 civic; all the others showed a different key. However, I got it open and realized that i do not have this battery! thanks
I hope this helps some people who are having issues after changing the battery. Mine was acting strange and not really working right after I changed the battery and electronics cleaner didn’t help. I was able to test the batteries that we had on hand and the initial battery tested low so I switched it out for a better battery and it worked.
Dude thank you so much I couldn't find any videos on how to just simply change the battery in that certain key fob it's exactly what I have you showed me exactly what I needed to do you are the man thank you so much!!!!!!!
I was wondering if it’s that simple. A couple of days the remote did not work properly. And I was just arrived home!!!! 🤦🏾♀️ So I grabbed my spare and the spare is working thank god. Thanks for this.
The Car Key Man whelp replaced battery and it’s not working. Been using my spare key since...might have to get another key fob. 😑 now it’s finding the price!
Quick Advice: Get yourself a set of electronics/computer screwdrivers. They'll have a much smaller-than-usual Phillips (cross-head) screwdriver, one that will be more likely to fit that small screw-head on the key-fob.
Loved your video , thank you 🖒🙏 I changed the battery the key gave solid red light then turned off but none of the buttons work 🤔🤔? Does it need any sort of calibration after changing the battery ?? Kindly note that I never had any problem with this key ... I've used it for 5 years & 1 month ... used it till yesterday 5 pm ... thanks for the help
My car key was giving me problems and I replaced the battery but now the key works 50% of the time, It seems the new battery is kind of loose and I did buy the right battery. Any suggestions on what could it be the problem?
Geez, I am having a totally different experience. Same key. The whole thing seemed quite obvious to me. So I got a small screw driver, and did just what you did. The screws backs out super easy, and then stops. It won't come out all the way. It gets almost flush with the plastic, with little to no effort and then it just stalls. I can't turn it anymore even with a fair amount of force. Of course, not too much because I don't want to strip it. I figured I was doing something wrong, which led me to this video. I guess not...
I did everything told in this video. Even have the same battery. The remote light isn't working still and can't unlock or lock my car. Need to do it manually. Is it the remote or car?
I just started having the same issue. Remote stopped working out of no where. Tried my spare and also wasnt working. Neither of the key LED's were lighting up. Also tried new battery in both key fobs to no avail. Please help.
After the battery replacement, when I press "Lock" button, the red light blinks and the light stays on about 10 seconds, and it doesn't work to lock. Do you have any idea the reason why this kind of problem happens ?
Same here. 2013 Accord. Tried 2 new batteries. Light comes on for about 10 seconds after closing the fob case, then goes off. Lock button does nothing. Unlock initiates lock & activates horn's "lock" beep. Trunk release does nothing... Many in the comments are experiencing this as well, but no one that I've seen in the comments has found a solution, except one - he claimed Honda had a guide to reprogram but didn't tell where (not really helpful @SlimNubster). I've looked through Honda's site, Honda Owners and search engines. No joy. :[
I have the same problem also changed new battery, the red light still there showing that the battery is weak, but i used the battery to my spare key it works
Vid very helpful… but I too am experiencing the blinking 10 second red light.. When pressing the Lock button… lights flash but no horn. Doesn’t unlock at all… gone through 2 new batteries. I’m stuck!!! Has anyone experiencing this resolved this issue?
Hi Nadav, someone asked this a few months ago in the comments and we never got to the bottom of it. If you look through the comments there may be an answer
Hi, you need a set for electronics, or a glasses repair kit. They are very small on your Honda key and if you don't thave the correct one you will damage the screw
I’m having the same problem wit my key. It opens but doesn’t lock. I replaced the battery and nothing. Is it a malfunction by Honda. What is the solution ?
@@TheCarKeyMan it did work before. Since my comment i just randomly started working again without me doing anything. Worked the next day. But then a couple days later it did the same thing again. It is currently working
So I changed my battery exactly like your video but I’m not getting the little light on my key.. idk why it’s not working. I was getting a light before I changed the battery but it was dying and my remote was working to open or unlock my car doors.. any advice or help?

Hi Josline. Yes this is a problem. On the Older Honda keys, we have to break the old case open, change the battery and then put it into a new case and cut the blade, but I haven't seen these cases for sale yet. Are you in the States?
