Where did you get this game as a kid? How old are you? I grew up with Nintendo as well but I didn't see this game until I bought one of the many rom games off of eBay. Was this released in America
@@Mr.Death101 No, unless you lived in Japan, you did not see this game. Could've ended up on some bootleg multi-carts though, would not be surprised. Also why buy ROMS when you can get them free off of the internet, the developers that did the games don't see a dime from that purchase anyway, just pirates.
@@Bloodreign1 I bought them years ago I would buy bulk lots of things like harddrives n roms with no markings and every once in a while you'd find something really cool or really rare. I literally play a game once if I don't like it I never play it again or even if I do like a game a lot I rarely ever go with the actual console.
It looks pretty 16-bit for an NES video game. Too bad there weren't more of this kind of video games on the platform. Of course there's Batman: Return of the Joker from Sunsoft, which has massive sprites and impressive colors. This video game has a cartoony art style, but it still impresses.
Aah, what a nostalgic relief from decades ago. Me and my cousins used to play this game(along with some other games thrown into the mix), yet amongst us, I'm the only one who actually managed to finish the game by whole. You remind me of my younger self back then :3 Now that I have remember a classic favorite, it's just a matter of time before I can relive those days once more :3
On the modded version, this game was called Pokemon Red, and the character's sprites were that of GB Pokemon's Charmeleon. Crazy stuff. I've always wondered why the hell did Charmeleon threw a trident and fought monks...
Remember I got this game in a summer vacation from somebody i really don't recall. This game definitely pushed NES to the limit. The graphic is amazing. The soundtrack with J-POP style is fantastic as well.
Yeah, since childhood, the latter intro scenario i.e. burning entire city into gigantic red flames always remind me of shadow of the ninja or kage stage 5-1 background where the latter also has the similar burning new york city background!! Nostalgia... ❤️
I forgot the name of the game after searching for 3 months on the internet and couldn't find it. Finally I was forced to buy a console and try all the games and finally found a childhood game, I am very happy
natsume has so many great game at the time, still believed if the company can live up to this days, it will no less great than any game company nowadays.. thoses game they make was so ahead, creative, obscure but so great, only as more you play again you can realized it. ninja with bombs weapon and fight robot, tank ; two cinematic star was chosen to be the symbol in the game of alien invasion, they have special unit attach to them and the original game was hard as hell ; super hero type using punching as main attack;... so much creative, the music is so perfect...
it costs me 5 times playing to figure out the coin boost trick, and i was the only one among my friends who could complete this game in 1 out of 50 times playing
Besides being a typically excellent Natsume title, it has music from the guy that later worked on Wild Guns, Pocky & Rocky, and Gundam Wing:Endless Duel just to name a few. Kickin'!
I completely forgot this game existed. Even after watching this video my recollection is very vague, but I definitely remember the music and coin shenanigans. I don't remember main character at all though. Maybe I played a ripoff with different sprites, or was there another game like this?
Never knew the name or what were they saying since it was completely in japanese! Just happened to find it casually jajaa Its based on one of Ozamu Tezuka's manga I remember the music a bit slower, in my mind that gave it a kind of a more bluesy or funky tone. Anyway great game!! Sorry for making you read a lot of nonsense!
My memories, I used to play it when I had a pvp and beat that game many times and it was one of my favorite pvp games. However, the intro was absent from the pvp version and the soundtracks had different instruments (16-bit-like tempos) but they were awesome. Edit 2: Oh wait, it's based on anime not folklore
I remember playing this because a korean friend lend it to me in grade school and neither one of us could tell what the hell it was called, been looking for the name for like 30 years!
Did this come out in the US? If so, what was it called? If not, does anyone know if it has been translated? a lot of it looks to be in English already!
I just bought a cheap Chinese handheld game thingy with 400 games on it for $12, one of them is this game. It's the Japanese version, but it's exactly the same except most of the English is in Japanese.
A huge part of my childhood right here

The games from the end of life of nes are simply amazing.
Especially the konami ones, batman returns, tmnt 3, tiny toon, monster in my pocket

Both games aesthetics and BGM gives it a classic memorable vibes from the 70s.
Always enjoyable and recommended.
funny how the enemies throw him patches to close his third eye!! lol
How have I not noticed it before?
hey, thanx. I was scratching my head thinking why do enemy shots look like bandages? that shit's funny
aww. so cute
i just realize now
When his third eye is not exposed he acts like a baby.
Tien was based on this character. Sharaku predates Tien and is also famously known as being the inspiration.
Yes
Very good game, in my top15 nes list for sure.

One of the best Famicom exclusive games
I play this game in my childhood time really oossmm👍❤
Based on the manga by Osamu Tezuka, the Creator of Astro Boy, Black Jack and Dororo!
I was thinking that something about this music reminded me of Shatterhand. I guess that makes sense since they are both made by Natsume.
Its the same "engine" for the sound. You are right!
Same for Choujin Sentai Jetman

Tien Shin Han's little brother.
