Yes I finally found this classic! I couldn’t remember the name but finally it just clicked. This game is mad underrated. I probably played it more than any other NES game. Amazing soundtrack and artwork.
Played the heck out of this one back in the day. Nobody seems to know this game. Which is crazy, because it's easily among the best action games on the NES. High end graphics, super tight controls, great weapon design, awesome music.
@@Vik1919 I meant back in the late 80s and 90s. You just couldnt find games if it wasnt on the shelf in a store. Emulators are wonderful because of how easy it is now to play these old classics, but thats a more recent technology.
This is what happens when you put Mega Man, Ninja Gaiden, and Castlevania in a blender. You get Shatter Hand, a difficult NES game in it's own library.
@@DarKKnightt07 Yes I agree but I wasnt saying its like Castlevania. The main commentator did. I felt it was more Journey to Silius in graphics, music and gameplay. Even similar to quantum fighter and Power blade
AVGN brought me here. I never even heard of "Shatterhand",until I watched his video game box art video. Wow! This game looks better than I thought it would be. I wish I would've known about this back in the day, when I was a kid.
***** Sorry if I butted in because of these issues. I found your comment to be a little extreme but once again I do apologise for thinking it was about Ghostbusters and judging your profile, that was irrational of me
+Don Scott yes. James does not really seek to control one's opinion on a game. It's really just mostly for laughs. Although he does give some good points about the games, it's really up to us if we agree with him.
Part of me wonders if this was originally intended as an arcade game. I mean, it’s extremely difficult yet it plays fair, and it even lets you put your initials in if you score high enough (though not many people may realize this since your score resets when you continue).
Check out the scrolling shooter "Summer Carnival '92: Recca", that game is freaking intense for a Famicom/NES game. It has loads of enemies on the screen at all times, huge bosses, complex rave music with lots of bass and drums, and psychedelic, fluid backgrounds that behave as if they are underwater or something. It has lots of fast blinking lights and stuff though, so epilepsy warning, I guess.
To this day I'm still trying to think of a good reason for Steve's vest to be blowing so hard in the wind while in front of a big CPU screen like that but fuck it; he looks so TUFF.
This seems to be a pretty obscure game. It definitely needs more love. According to Wikipedia, the final boss is apparently General Gus Grover, the leader of a group military renegades called Metal Command. The protagonist is a young Bronx officer named Steve Hermann, who lost both of his arms and had them replaced with cybernetic arms. Funny enough, the original Japanese version seems to have more of a plot, and the protagonist has a resemblance to RoboCop. Steve Hermann is totally an unsung hero. I mean, he's a walking representation of awesomeness, and very few have even heard of him. He needs more appearances. (Sad)
I owned this game for about 5 or 6 years as it was one of my favorite NES games. I played it mostly for the music. This game was definitely cyberpunk. I gave my own names to the bosses. Flare Man, Twin Jumpers, Cyborg Ninja, Deep Sea Demolisher, Mutant and Gravity Ghost. I didn't give a name to the final boss, though.
Wow. This game looks way better than I would assume from the way James ripped the box art. Where was this game in the rentals section I never even heard of it?
Kaimax_61 Nope. Shatterhand was intended to be the original game, even in Japan. Natsume only changed the Japanese release to Solbrain at Bandai’s request.

One of a few NES games i owned and couldnt beat. This game was fun but challenging. I also had shadow of the ninja and noticed the music was similar. 2 very good games.
I bought this game when I was a youngster. However, the game was called robocop 4. I had no idea that her real title is Shatterhand. Finally, I found your favorite game from childhood. :) I played it on the NES clone who called Pegasus.
