Great tips. Jigs, bucks, patterns are always helpful in the shop. Whether woodworking or metalworking. Look forward top watching this series. Be safe and stay well.
Looks good man. I’m a sparky…we call them ‘hickey sticks’ (no idea why?…maybe it was a brand one time). Another way to bend it is drill a hole a little bigger than the conduit…in a block of wood and put the conduit through it. Just pull on the conduit, move it a tiny bit..pull again…repeat until you have the radius/arch you want.
Thanks bro, I started a wagon size kart for the chassis when it comes to the body this technique is what I'm going to need to know. Going to build something small then work my way up to car size. 👍🏽I'll have a cool wagon size car to put up in are shop wall.
I don't think you can get that metal electrical conduit here in NZ. Ours is all plastic. I did build my Austin 7 frame from small diameter ERW furniture tubing which I am guessing is similar. To bend it I used a block of wood with a hole in it! Will be cool seeing you do the metal shaping on this.
Hey glad I found your channel. :). Was cool to see you use the rod as a form...I did the same when building front and rear wide-body fenders on a mustang. After the sheet metal was welded-up I removed all the rod underneath except along the wheel well hole to give it some strength and thickness (the outside edge). I've made two planishers (a small hand-held one and a stationary one) but now want to build a Mini Planisher so i can use it on small S/S moldings/trim and was wondering if you know of a mini air chisel type tool around? Thanks for sharing your time and experience!
Honestly I just use a cheap harbor freight air chisel and most of my tools I can make. My English wheel is homemade and it works amazing and I have my handheld planishing hammer also that I made just from a cheap harbor freight air chisel. I really appreciate all your nice comments and your support to my channel. Every Sunday we’re doing a metal shaping video. So stick around.thanks 👍 ARCO
@@MidnightCustoms-C20 5/16” cold rolled solid round rod 👍 it welds easy and also is easy to form too. Hot rolled is way harder to bend so it’s a little different to work with bro. ARCO
@OutlawEdge gotcha. I might try building a wire buck just to do it at some point. I don't know that I have a need for one at this point but I'd like to try building a fender just to build one lol
Sweet brother can't wait
Brother, thanks for taking the time to show us the process…. Very informative!
Very cool ideas you have Arco! Using conduit is a great idea👍 never thought of building two fenders at once 👀Ingenious 👍😎👍

So is that thin round bar you're attaching to the conduit ?
