I could watch some guy make panels that has been in the business for a long time and probably learn something BUT when you add the students own work it really seems to bring things home.
Frankly I’m shocked at the low number of viewers I see. Wray in my opinion is one of the best teachers and metal shapers out there. I’ve been metal shaping for more than ten years now and I learn something new with every video. Please people show your support and tell your friends about this channel.
It appears that on RUclips the algorithm favors channels demonstrating mig welding patch panels followed by bondo smoothing. Those channels get all of the views and subscribers.
Having done body work on rusted cars for years it's easier than taking the time to do it right less time in it probably why there is more of a following for those other u tube. I enjoy watching Ray show how to do it the right way will last longer then what I was doing . Keep up doing good work
@@proshaper or perhaps the viewers are to blame. The majority viewers that is choosing to look at shortcuts. Sadly, we live in a quick fix world where speed is favored over carful but time consuming work.
I agree, years of watching the tube to gain information, beating and slashing panes into submission seems to be the shortcut. But gaining an understanding of shaping metal, makes this work repeatable, regardless of shape the principles remain the same. I am a chop slash and beat kind of guy,but i want more. I believe this art form is starting to take off,and will gain momemtum as more people want high quality work. I want to be more of a metal sculptor than a filler carver..i could refer to a couple youtube filler addicts, but i wont. Time to get into shop and refine some tools.
metal is clay ! - and knowledge is king ! - what a great gift your sharing with your lucky students ... thank you wray for your generosity "to all of us" ( wray puts the clay in metal) 🙏
Ken needs to start a RUclips channel to let us see the progress! I’m thinking that, unless Ken doesn’t want the help, your students could make the four fenders and you could ship them to him back home. Or ship the wire form buck. Shouldn’t be that expensive.
@@proshaper I was shocked he's not taking the wireform back with him. Can it be re created in an hour? Seems a key thing to leave behind. Rather have a metal shop than a computer. :)

Hi, my name is Michael from germany. Thanks a lot about your vidos. I love them and learn so much! Only the noise of the new camera is very annoying. :-)
I think you might be referring to unstrut. It's a generic product used a lot by electricians. I use it as a inner structure for my wirforms also as a left right measuring tool, to insure symmetry.

I totally agree with you. Wray deserves more attention than he gets

Great to see Kens ideas come to life. Classic art deco design, beautyful.
Ken is a bloody legend!!
I hope I have the grit and doggedness he does at 78 yeas old.
Bloody gutsy.

Amazing Wray & Ken!
Nice to see you again Wray. Thank you for your time making great videos 👍🏼 Looking forward for the dash...
Just finished the "Metal Shaping for Beginners" series! Loved it! On to "Restoration 101!"
Thanks again Wray, it's always a pleasure to watch you videos, and thanks Mark for all the camera work! Greetings from The Netherlands.
Great explanation about the benefits of the wire form buck.
Great to watch
Thanks for the video Wray, very interesting.
Very helpful! Thanks for posting - and I also really enjoy seeing the students' work - very impressive!
Nice work wray.
Fantastic video as always Wray totally love what you do simply amazing ❤️👌
Fascinating! Very well explained.
Thanks brother, great info. Thanks
Yup so cool how you teach this stuf it's really. Neat
This looks a lot like the car that Arco of Outlaw Edge is building. Very cool.
Ken , designed it 30 years ago.

We used a boom microphone on this video. I guess it wasn't successful.
@@proshaper Thanks for your answer!
Great video! Would you recommend the wire method to shape a curtis style rear body for a vintage race car build?
Yes, wireform is the best method, it makes proper fitting of the panels so much easier.
would making a temp buck out of cardboard help with the formation of the wire form?
Did I miss some of the videos of the dash you were working on?
We will get back to it, been super busy.
Comments feed RUclips.

Hey Wray what is that channel material you are using for the base of the wire buck?

Hail the algorithm!
Be sure to share, too.

lol, I know a Superfast Matt fan when I see one.
Does the wire buck become part of the body in the end?
What or how is a body line put into a buck?
With a wireform it will be easy add the wire front to back. With a wood station buck, you could add a wire as well.
I can see the benefit of the wire form/buck. But what if your fender or 1/4 pnl has a sharp body line. @@proshaper

is ken going to build the car?
Yes, that is intent.
The wire frame is a great idea!
