Really really good & informative video. Things I‘ve not heard elsewhere, + pointing out the cultural & religious details one could unintentionally oversee.

Hello from Canada. Great content. I like how you are a straight shooter and do not put too many filters. And thank you for highlighting some of the not so developed & strange things of Dubai. I have been to dubai a few times on vacations and I always felt that Dubai is a developed country but it’s just not like a western country. Totally agree with everything you have said including the crazy driving & people staring.

Really helpful video! I moved to Dubai recently too, and it was a bit overwhelming at first. Luckily, I got some advice from the team at Bolster Group, and they helped me navigate the transition smoothly. Totally agree with the points you made, especially about driving!

Regarding Ramadan, Muslims get to work shorter hours in Ramadan anyway. No-one is gonna be tempted because you're eating, but perhaps still nice recognise the fact. It's generally a nice time of year, if you're cognizant of such things.
I used work in Wales before so it's funny hearing you talking of the gas prices etc, and now they've gone up in the UK, I don't expect them to ever go down significantly. They did it with the petrol first, people went crazy when it hit £1 per litre, but I knew, soon they would accept it being more...
In fact I've worked in a few different countries, but I'm heading back to Dubai. Safety is important, and UK is going down hill fast. Even Dubai, known for materialism, amongst other things, is still is a peaceful environment. From an Islamic perspective, safety and peace are from God. You feel that in Dubai, whereas not so much in the UK. The ruler has a vision for the city, meanwhile, the UK as a country doesn't have one!
Banking with HSBC does make life easier for sure (As long as you don't have issues opening a UAE account...if you try to do that from the UK).
I think, I try not to make it seem Dubai is far away (in my mind)...it kinda isn't, just a 7 hour flight, and with all the ways we have to communicate, it makes things easier. I guess it's all about getting into a routine where things are under control. Even shopping is kinda nicer in Dubai. Not, the malls, which are obviously nicer, but just the supermarkets. They tend to have more deals, and the selection is better with more different new items. It's just so boring grocery shopping the UK. And if you don't feel like cooking...Talabat to the rescue, which poses it's only problems...too much choice 😅

Your videos are very valuable because you talk about all these little things of the daily life that you can only know when you actually live there. It's easy to find information here and there about how beautiful, hot and expensive (or not) Dubai is, but things like the pesticides being spread out, cockroaches or how to dress when getting in a government building are very important to know when you want to evaluate what you could tolerate or not when living in a country. Thanks a lot!

"Special" refers to 95 Octane petrol. It is the mid range option and most commonly used.
There are higher and lower grades available.
Super [98 Octane] for sports cars
ePlus [92 Octane] for commercial vans etc

Typically its the blondes that get stared at the most as they are very rare in the mostly dark haired middle east and india type countries. When i used to work in Oman they tended to have a high volume of Scandinavian tourists (sweden etc) and mostly 90% blonde male, females and kids they would literally stop traffic due to Standing out so much.
Some good tips in the rest of the video too. Moving out soon with the wife and daughter to Dubai Hills so trying to get as much info as poss and cover anything i haven't seen or thought of already. Thanks 👍👍

Disgraceful to dump pets. I wonder who it is who does this? Also why doesn’t cctv capture them so they can be fined. I mean, I get it that some people might fall on extremely hard times but dumping the pet on the street??
We all know that Dubai is a super safe place so surely these people are being caught on CCTV (unless they’re driving all the way out into the desert…. 🐪 where there are no cameras … but even then these days I guess satellite 🛰️ images are always possible).
Strange they’re not being brought to justice.
Even if they could be fined that money could help relocate the pet rather than it falling on the shoulders of volunteers
