- After moving with my family and almost 2 years in Dubai, working in the real estate industry where I speak to around 50-60 new people every fortnight, I decided to compile the regrets and mistakes when moving to Dubai that others have shared with me.
Making some of these mistakes ourselves, I hope this video helps you wh to avoid these mistakes whether you’re moving with kids, as a couple or solo. it might just make your transition into Dubai a bit easier!

for #2: british embassy would be responsible imho, because you became resident in UAE ? renewal becomes obvious within some years anyway

Moving to Dubai in n couple of months and this is so helpful and sound advise. Would like to know more about the initial hidden costs and what the 10k was needed for, did it include rent etc? Thank you

We are a family of 3 so we had visa and medical insurance to cover and many other costs/deposits we didn’t know we needed to pay to really set ourselves up in the first couple of months. Also rent is usually paid 3, 6 or 12 months in advance
Also, could you recommend few areas to rent a villa or townhome within 15-20 mins radius of Dubai internet city? We will have a new born next year and planning to move from Canada.

Thank you for the great video, im moving to Abu Dhabi soon and got a job there. I would just like to know if the attested documents had to be done before you guys left for Dubai or could you go over so long while waiting for the attested documents to come back? Did it affect the Visa or not? Or did you have to wait for it in the UK before going over to the UAE?
Congratulations on the job! We sent our documents for attestation and received them back before coming to the UAE. You’ll need to bring the physical copies with you. If you don’t have enough time then it’s best to get them attested in the UAE instead.
@@adventuresofabs thank you very much. I have already started the Attestation process here in South Africa but it takes 7-10 weeks to get it back, so ill be in the UAE by then , will just get a courier to send the documents to me in the UAE then. Thanks again for the help.
@@xanenaude9835 if you’ve already started it then that’s the best option. The postal system here is a strange thing so see if you can use a company that also operates in the UAE to reduce the risk of the documents never getting to you. Best of luck! exciting time ahead 😊

Biggest oiece of advice, check on the map before you move. If you plan to live/work anywhere that requires travel on Hessa St....run!

Hi, you mentioned you have a daughter. Whats her age if I may ask? Was wondering if you guys have any experience with schools there yet? Since I have a 5 year old myself and can't really find a lot of in depth info about schools in dubai. Would love to see a video about it!
She’s 3! I’ll definitely make a video on schools and how to find the right one. At 5 years old plenty of options but often the choice of schools come down to budget as schools will have different fees. Best of luck! 🤗

For number 2.. what are those hidden costs / unexpected fees ?! I stopped dead in my tracks when you said people only look at monthly which is me right now !
I’m moving over there with the help of an agency that covers flight , rent for one month , residency for 2 years, metro card for one month, picking up at airport, and they help you make your CV.
They allow me to extend the rent as well.
With that being said , is 5k USD enough for me to bring to go over there and be comfortable for max 3 months while I look for a job ?

Hey ml, I’m flying in next week ! I’m going to move just for the summer (2-3 months) to check it out & see if this is something I really want to do. I scratched the agency option , they just take your money to be honest and put you all the way in bur Dubai.

Out of curiosity, why would you need travel insurance when you would purchase medical insurance once landed in Dubai as a resident? You are not travelling to Dubai as a tourist, so I’m confused by that…

Hi, it depends if you plan to do the attestation process yourself or if you pay for a registered solicitor to organise it for you. I’ll make a video on the process soon!
My husband had his documents attested in the UK before we moved to Dubai - we used Argentum and can definitely recommend them! x
I need to get my kids an Emirates ID apparently I have to get docs attested here in the UK by the UAE embassy? Any ideas as I hear they don’t even answer the phone .

Hello, I can recommended some websites: airbnb, property finder, Bayut (make sure you add a search term in ‘short term’ or ‘holiday home’) or you can search and join Facebook groups for apartment shares! Hope this helps

This is such an important video for anybody considering moving there. I've watched several videos about the mistakes to avoid when moving there, but this one focuses on things that I haven't seen in others and which are very very important. For example upon trafic: I went on Google Maps, took a random place close to the marina and a random place in a district which seemed to be a little bit further from the beach in a neighborhood which was cheaper, then I checked with Google Maps how long a commute would take: I was shocked to see that it would take 45 min when I estimated that it could be like 20 min, just to go one way, not even round trip. Thanks a lot for your video!
