Moving to Dubai and leaving family behind in the UK was a tough decision for me too. But honestly, the opportunities here made it worth it. I got a lot of help from Bolster Group-they sorted out my visa and even helped with banking, which made the whole move smoother. It’s a big step, but having some support makes all the difference

To complete I would say that having a consultant to help with the paperwork or other administrative fiels is needed. + for recruiting it's better to find a HR service. Disgraceful to dump pets. I wonder who it is who does this? Also why doesn’t cctv capture them so they can be fined. I mean, I get it that some people might fall on extremely hard times but dumping the pet on the street?? We all know that Dubai is a super safe place so surely these people are being caught on CCTV (unless they’re driving all the way out into the desert…. 🐪 where there are no cameras … but even then these days I guess satellite 🛰️ images are always possible). Strange they’re not being brought to justice. Even if they could be fined that money could help relocate the pet rather than it falling on the shoulders of volunteers

British complaining i get it disappointed but in uk there isnt any teaching job offering you all this. There are people in the world with problems no housing and no job offering you this.

We're also expats from the uk with a son. We've lived in the Middle East and Asia and we're currently in Egypt. We're considering moving to Dubai next as my husband is also a teacher albeit secondary level. Teaching in the uk is so different to as an expat. I don't currently have a job so not sure how we'll fair in Dubai but ideally I'll work in the school too. I'll be following you 😊

We lived in Dubai for over 7 years. We were made to feel welcome but I think we were lucky to live there before it got so frenetic and expensive. They call it the 'Dubai Bubble' - great for a while but not somewhere to put down roots. In response to your healthcare statements - we had a rather different experience. We both got healthcare as part of our salary package but when I had spinal issues, I felt that some things were being done just so that the hospital could get more back from the insurance company. When I was back in the UK, I went to a private clinic and this was verified. We were in Abu Dhabi for 4 years and it was a much better fit for us - not as image conscious and less busy. I wouldn't change the UAE experience but once you scratch beneath the surface, there are as many issues and compromises to be made as anywhere you might choose to live.

I love the UAE I lived in the U.K. a long time and found it so dire. UAE is a beautiful country (Dubai isn’t the only city there btw) the Emirati people are generous and so welcoming and peaceful. Yes the summers are hot but I prefer that than the harsh British winters. I feel so at home here and happy my children will have wonderful lives here

Your videos are very valuable because you talk about all these little things of the daily life that you can only know when you actually live there. It's easy to find information here and there about how beautiful, hot and expensive (or not) Dubai is, but things like the pesticides being spread out, cockroaches or how to dress when getting in a government building are very important to know when you want to evaluate what you could tolerate or not when living in a country. Thanks a lot!

This is such an important video for anybody considering moving there. I've watched several videos about the mistakes to avoid when moving there, but this one focuses on things that I haven't seen in others and which are very very important. For example upon trafic: I went on Google Maps, took a random place close to the marina and a random place in a district which seemed to be a little bit further from the beach in a neighborhood which was cheaper, then I checked with Google Maps how long a commute would take: I was shocked to see that it would take 45 min when I estimated that it could be like 20 min, just to go one way, not even round trip. Thanks a lot for your video!
