I had a t-shirt, with "Red River Lumber", on one side and "Beer, it's what's for breakfast", on the other. Lol. Very beautiful territory. Thank You for taking us along.
I can't tell you how much I have been enjoying this series! I have always wanted to visit New Mexico and Colorado, and your videos are making me want to hit the road. You're kind of the Bob Ross of travel videos, and that's meant as a compliment.
God Bless - United States America - Russ - RVerTV Fans. We Love RVerTV - Grand Journey Thru U.S.A. - Grand Videos - Grand Music. Thank you Russ - Happy Trails - U.S.A. - Russ - RVerTV Fans. Have a Great Summer ; Have a Great Day Eh.🤠🤠🤠🤠🤠🤠🤠
Real nice video Russ. Very scenic, the Vietnam was a nice tribute to our veterans. My brother spent two years over there in the Marine Corp as a radio man. Was not a good experience for him but was fortunate to come home again. The bridge and Gorde were something to see. Thanks again for the ride along. Take care.
I had no idea how gorgeous this trip into New Mexico was. Never been through the northern part. Now I want to go. Loving this road-trip. Love the back camera and the wide view.
As an Eagle Scout I did a lot of backpacking at Philmont Scout Ranch and even worked there one summer. When we had days off we would drive to and through places just like that. Excellent memories even drove to Telluride for a YMSB concert.
I went to Philmont for a week of great camping and hiking in '63. One of the highlites of the trip was riding the Superchief train from Kansas City to Raton, New Mexico....we had a blast !!!
Another great video 😊 The Vietnam War Memorial was heartwarming to see and beautifully done too. You made me nervous talking about stepping on that broken rock 😂 Thanks for sharing the drive 💕
That was really interesting. The first and only time we drove on Route 64 was in January of 2017 and everything was white, covered with snow, most of the way to Taos. Eagles Nest looked like the North Pole. The lake was completely iced over. I think the temperature was very cold, around 5 degrees late in the day. Too cold for me, but summers would be great. Thanks showing us what the summer months looked like. The gorge was cool. I got dizzy watching the video. Safe travels and thanks again.
Watching this from Southern New Mexico. It’s only 108 today 😩😩😩 Northern NM and CO look very similar. Have you done Estes park yet Russ? We camp hosted there last summer although I would not recommend the campground we worked at.
My vote for # 1 Best Travel videos. Really appreciate all the work miles and $$ you bring forth for us all “stay at homers” enjoying the ride. Thanks for all you The best. Watching for deer and wildlife…….can be stressful Be well
Awesome video again. I like Eagle’s Nest the most too. That Rio Grande Canyon I’d never heard of, and man what a drop from that bridge. Yeah, I was puckered looking down even through that GoPro. Looking forward to “The Road to Chama” on the wheels of the RVrTV Mystery Machine. Thanks for the video. Great Job.
Beautiful Adobe building. Amazing Vietnam Veteran Memorial. I worked with people who served in Vietnam. I also knew someone who servedin Vietnam died because of being exposed to Agent Orange. The Canyon was amazing.
Once again, I'm watching on my TV and using my phone to Google information about your stops. Being from WV, when I saw folks fishing and then active mining I knew something was up. Huge environmental energy has been spent on cleanup, or not, perhaps. One site stated that fishing is good upstream of the mine, but dead below. I didn't research further, not knowing the geography of the NM area you are driving.
Did the Enchanted Circle bicycle ride many times back in the 80s and 90s. 100 miles with an out and back to the gorge. Counterclockwise like you did. Starts and ends in Red River. Happens around Labor Day. Tons of fun! Especially that last climb up to Bobcat Pass near the end. Thanks, Russ.
Enjoyed seeing a bit of the northern NM scenery I haven't passed through before. My path from the southeast used to take me I-40 to Clines Corner, through Sante Fe, to Antonito, Colorado. My preferred route now takes me from Amarillo TX to Raton NM to Walsenburg to Antonito. Gotta admit, your route on this trip is way more scenic, especially at the Rio Grande bridge.
Ahhhh. Angel fire!!! Been there a couple of times as a teen while the family and i lived in Texas!! Great skiing! What a beautiful and enchanted state! Great memories!!
Tks for a great time riding around with you. You do a great job your video. Love how you show in detail and explain the travel. The Vietnam memorial is cool. Tks for your support to are troops in all the branches of are country the why we have are freedom.😅
Great views and perspective, last time I was there several years ago on Memorial Day weekend my band played at a place I can’t remember the name of the bar but it was a bike fest in town, a bunch of Harley Davidsons and choppers and leather. We played on a stage set up facing the street right off the front of the bar entrance. It was spectacular and we had a great time we played twice Friday night inside the bar then Saturday at around two in the afternoon outside on the stage they had set up. We came in to town from Questa from Colorado so it was cool to see your veiw from Eagles nest. Thank you, love your videos…
I used to watch Traveling Robert but he always is complaining and you are always upbeat and you have a catchy tune. And you do a great job absorbing the local culture and tourist spots or museums. Stay positive and happy trails.
Oh wow! Eagle Nest lake definitely has trout. My friend and I went there to visit some old friends who were staying in their RV. He took us in his boat out on the water. Really windy that day, but we wet a hook and caught a few. His wife canned the trout from previous catches. Great recipe she shared with me! 90 minutes at 11 PSI in the old pressure cooker. Good stuff! 1992. Seems like yesterday. Thanks for sharing Russ!!
Elizabethtown is a ghost town. Some old buildings. Its been 30 years since I was there. Thanks. Many memories. It sure has built up, especially Red River. Wow
I'll be heading that way myself next week (seeing family), so it's great to know what I will be expecting when I make that drive. I love your channel and look forward to every video detailing your travels across the USA. Thank you for everything that you do.
Thanks for going through this area, very scenic and have been there often on motorcycle trips, especially liked seeing the Viet Nam memorial, each time I’ve been there they have added something new, too bad the visitor center was closed, very informative, story as I recall was a a Dr built all this for his son who lost his life there Great country thanks again Keep these coming and stay safe!
I'm sure I'm not alone in pulling up google maps to follow along that way as well. I've got two separate windows open right now, lol. So far - my favorite part is Taos itself. Until your video, I don't recall seeing it in pictures before, (never been there),. At least, coming into town that way. The galleries are o-k but it's the town itself I want to see. It has those old-school pueblo-style motels hidden among all the dark green trees. I love that stuff. I bet there's some good eats up there as well. I really need to see that part of N.M. Cheers and thanks for this one as well. 👍
Wish I had know you were going to Red River. I would have suggested a scenic road from there to Questa. Very nice unpaved road. I'm anticipating your trip on to Chama. From Tres Piedras to Tierra Amarilla on 64 most beautiful! Then north out of Chama on 17 to Antonito very scenic. North of Chama in CO is a little town Horca. From there I've driven in 2 wheel drive within about 7 miles of South Fork before getting back on paved rd.
Love your channel you go to places I've never heard of or seen and your video quality is superb, keep up the good work! I never knew New Mexico what's so beautiful.❤
Hey Russ! Wow! Great video my Brotha! I’m following your journey through New Mexico, and so far I’m really loving it. I’m really interested in Angel Fire, Taos, and Red River. I’m a former Ski Patrol from Colorado, and have always wanted to ski New Mexico. Great work, Sir! 😎🇺🇸
Hi Russ, really enjoy your efforts and your chuckle. Too cool for school! We recently had the traveling Vietnam Memorial Wall in our city. It' is a smaller version of the permanent one in D.C. Has all the names of those M.I.A. and those who made the ultimate sacrifice. Something like 18,000. Think I saw some memorial bricks there along the walkway. Thank you for stopping there. For so long after this war the veterans were not recognized or appreciated (the forgotten war). Thanks again!
Have driven across 64 several times, never disappointed. Always had to exit in Cimmaron to go see Philmont. Also Rio Grande Gorge bridge is wonderful, have to get out and walkout on it. You'll enjoy the view. Happy travels.
I would so love to go to Taos. I want to see the residential areas what the homes are like. The main street was so Adobe looking. Love seeing in your rig. It looks like a man's office very cool! I had a Transit 250 that I fixed up in the back I called it a mobile tent, I loved it, but I got tired of traveling by myself. I enjoy your trips..
We stayed in Eagles Nest a few years back for 10 days and loved the area and will be back there in August this year for a month. Further down Cimmaron Canyon there is an old west hotel (The St James) with lots of history including bullet holes in the old tin ceiling of the bar. Even further down is the National Boy Scout camp on part of one of the largest land grants of the country which is on part of the Santa Fe Trail little further is the Kit Carson Ranch complete with college kids that dress the clothes of Kit Carson days they give tours of how life was and are very knowledgeable. The mine in by Red River mines molybdenum ore and has its own shaddy history
Russ, I enjoyed "riding along with you on this trip" from my recliner. I knew about the Enchanted Circle drive, always wanted to but never did. Felt like I finally did by your video.
A very beautiful and splendid video! You certainly got the character of the land scape, colors and shadows perfectly. This is the area that we vacation at during the late summer. We met in Angel Fire 45 years ago and since we bought a trailer, we vacation in Eagle Nest at the Golden Eagle RV Park (you passed it on the way into Eagle Nest on the left from Angel Fire the first day). And yes, it's Eagle Nest not Eagle's Nest. That's a common mistake many people make. You could stay there a week, travel all over the area and only scratch the surface of what's there. You were traveling down the Moreno Valley, which averages about 8300 to 8600 feet elevation (hard to believe, isn't it?). The mountain peak with the patches of snow you saw while stopped at the south end of Eagle Nest Lake is Wheeler Peak, the highest point in New Mexico at 13,161 feet elevation. The large mining facility you passed between Red River and Questa was the Questa Molybdenum Mine. For those who don't remember, Molybdenum is used with Chromium and Nickel to harden steel for knives, tools and firearm components. The mine has been operating for more than 100 years. My father-in-law was born and raised in Questa. He and his dad worked in the mines there in the '30s. By all means, do go back and stay. You should make RV reservations well in advance if you go there during the summer. Visiting there in early September is the perfect time. Leaves are changing on the upper slopes and the weather is warm in the day with cool, crisp nights and the occasional rain shower. You won't be disappointed.
New Mexico is really under appreciated. It's beautiful.
Oh, deer!! Close call. Beautiful trip!!
🕊️ Traveling with RVerTV 🏞️🚐
Beautiful Art 🖼️
Thank You!💞
I had a t-shirt, with "Red River Lumber", on one side and "Beer, it's what's for breakfast", on the other. Lol. Very beautiful territory. Thank You for taking us along.
Enjoying the trip around the Enchanted Circle. Thanks for another interesting and fun video.
Thank you For the memory. I have been to everything, And more you are a sweet man God Bless you in your travels,

From a Vietnam war veteran 1966 1967.

I had no idea how gorgeous this trip into New Mexico was. Never been through the northern part. Now I want to go. Loving this road-trip. Love the back camera and the wide view.
The northern part is a completely different world. Albuquerque north to Durango or Colorado border
As an Eagle Scout I did a lot of backpacking at Philmont Scout Ranch and even worked there one summer. When we had days off we would drive to and through places just like that. Excellent memories even drove to Telluride for a YMSB concert.
Very cool!
I could sit by that river at Palisades Sill and sleep. Relaxing
I meant to mention that I really like the rear view camera shots. Great videos. Thanks.
I went to Philmont for a week of great camping and hiking in '63. One of the highlites of the trip was riding the Superchief train from Kansas City to Raton, New Mexico....we had a blast !!!

Yay, Chama!!!! Russ, stay long enough in the morning to chase the train. 🌞 Walk around the rail yard.
That's the plan!
I think you aren't really on vacation if there is no construction. Thank you for sharing. Always great to see other parts of the country
Thanks for watching!
Wow! What fantastic sites in New Mexico! Loved it all especially Rio Grande Gorge!! Thank you so much.😀🌵
So glad you enjoyed our little corner of the world

It is beautiful, and green.

It is nice to see that they honor and respect there fallen soldiers. Everyone needs to know and understand the cost of FREEDOM.
My brother in law flew in one of those Heueys. Those guys are precious, a gift to America. Thank you to every last one of them.
I used to watch Traveling Robert but he always is complaining and you are always upbeat and you have a catchy tune. And you do a great job absorbing the local culture and tourist spots or museums. Stay positive and happy trails.
That’s a good time of day can window shop and not so crowded you’re practically in the street !

Hopefully Raton is in the works…… just below Colorado. Hey halfway thru vid saw a sign, Raton turn East. Came close but no cookies
Russ, looking at this gorge, you need to go to the Black Canyon of the Gunnison near Montrose CO. It is spectacular. Thanks for the ride.
That is really some Great video russ.

@@rvertv you can see on map. Forrest Service Rd 597. It leaves Red River going north near the west end of town. Easy to find.
Thanks for the tour!

I wanted to do this trip last Sept, however I opted for Durango, Silverton, Oray, Teluride, Cortez, CO. NM is on my bucket list!

I had to stay off sidewalk when walking across bridge. Too high for me. LOL
Unbelievable I'm very close to you in our RV, we were there on Sunday
Really cool
We are in Carmmen ( think that's how you spell it)
I've been around it twice, once in each direction, at different times!
Awesome loop road! Rock Guitarist, George Lynch spent Covid Times in a Sprinter Traveling and hanging out in New Mexico. He really liked it there.
Pretty darn good, Russ. Canada wide open now. Got your passport?
Visit the Okanagan and I'll buy coffee at McDonalds!! 😂🤣😅
If you come into colorado you should come see the cripple creek area. It is a really beautiful area
that was fun...
Have you seen Palisades Park on the Mississippi at IA, IL? Pretty Cool! Love your travels. How lucky are you 👱🏻♀️
That's some rough livin' ya got there Russ!😅
There is a train in Chama. Old steam engine. It’s called the Cumbres and Toltec. I’ve ridden it before. It’s a beautiful trip.
Thank You
