    Wow, cool. This totally exceeds my expectations! What a fascinating exercise. What i did realize - again - , is that for great musicians like you, the guitar, the model , is a means for musical expression, a relay for communication and not like for many of us, a hope to play / sound better ......you make bluegrass played on the parlor guitar sound great .... all guitars sound great , distinct... for me the parlour, the dreadnaught and the jumbo stood out ....one thing is for sure, i ll be going through this video many times more

    I am obsessed with jumbos for my playing style (works well with piano keys, bass etc.)
    But this just proves the fact that I need 4 more guitars! "HEY HONEY, COME WATCH THIS!! can I get a few guitars for Christmas?"

    JP, I discovered you about 4 days ago. I have watched every GSWJ episode since. The fact is, you could strum a damn harmonica and pick your damn nose and it would sound good. But, you are one incredibly entertaining fella. Glad to have found your channel.

    Holly Geezzus HD35 Christoph that was a great demo 2:50-4:20. Beautifully played and produced. Such a joy to listen to and watch. So that's the way Salt Creek actually sounds; No wonder people ask what the hell I'm playing when I do Salt Creek.

    Loved the Jumbo sound . Just got a new to me Guild F40 17 inch lower bout. After 54 years this first jumbo has the size for my long arms. You describe the sound of the jumbo to a T. Of course who would know better. Great video J.P.

    JP. Merry Christmas to you and yours. I was just checking out your signature model from Boucher. She looks fantastic. I have a Martin Merle Haggard which I think you would like. It is a 12th fret join and has a cutaway. East Indian rosewood and Sitka Spruce.
    Great channel by the way.

    I liked the OM best I think, was really impressed with the Parlour for its projection. They all sounded nice, but for fingerstyle I would pick one of those two. For strumming, no question the Jumbo and dreadnought would win. In all tests, the OM was kind of the goldilocks size, not as big, but powerful enough to compete a bit with the larger guitars.

    What guitar cases do recommend when travelling over seas? Do you check your guitars with your check baggage on the plane? I am hopefully travelling to the Philippines in August and I am bringing my guitars with me. Thank you very much for the videos. I also am an online member of your guitar course.

      Hey Bark Eater... Other than getting a road case or a really well armored flight case, I wouldn't try to take it unless you have it in writing they will let you bring it on board with you (some airlines would have you buy an extra ticket for the guitar). I have a story that at the start sounds a bit similar to yours. I went to the Philippines back in 2008 with my prized Yairi so I could play it for my future wife and maybe be inspired to write some music while I was there. On the first flight they let me take it on board and put it up in the overhead. But, on the second flight they said I had to check it. They assured me it would be fine... When I got to the Philippines and waited for my luggage to arrive, I found they lost track of everything. Being there was nothing I could do, I went to on to the hotel I booked and went about my way. A couple days passed before my belongings showed up while I was out. The airline had a currier bring them to the hotel and one of the "helpful" people at the hotel signed for them for me. When I first looked at the guitar case I froze up. It had a huge gash in it from something with a sharp corner falling on it. I was still hoping the case protected it. After opening it I was completely heart broken. The top of the guitar was smashed and the neck was loose. It was an amazing guitar that had the smoothest, almost edible tone. That guitar was with me through at least 15 years of my playing and fit my hands like nothing else could. It still sits in its smashed case in the closet. ...Before that I had traveled overseas with the guitar, but never had to check it. You just never know. Maybe now with the Covid 19 crap going on you could get away with it. I would however get a road case or the most armored flight case you can find. They can be pretty pricey, but I wish I would have made that investment.

    great video (as usual) Somehow can't hear/see the difference brtween the OM and triple O...

    • @cajunqueen5125
      @cajunqueen5125 3 года назад +1

      re: OM vs TripleO: It's my understanding (if correct) that they are the same body sizes pretty much, but the OM has a slightly longer scale length, say 25.5 vs 24.9 or whatever. So yeah, they're gonna sound pretty similar because of the similar body.

  • @skintslots
    @skintslots 3 года назад

    I was hoping this video may have gone into the pros and cons of who and what music each body size would be designed for. I'd also like to ask 'What exactly is a Bluegrass guitar and why is it named that way?' I am sure you can play all genres but what specifically makes it ideal for Bluegrass music?

    • @jimjambananaslam3596
      @jimjambananaslam3596 3 года назад

      Traditionally, a dreadnought with a spruce top and either rosewood or mahogany sides would be your typical bluegrass guitar. Generally speaking, you just want something loud and bright.

    Heh !! - - -only problem with this is.....if you wrapped a 'bungee cord' around a stainless steel pot and played that.....you'd still sound good. All guitars were wonderful sounding ......for my ear, I think I like the Gallagher best. ( although almost imperceptible, I thought I heard a very,very,very slight intonation problem on the 'Parlour'.....likely just due to such a short scale ? dunno ?
