Ive been tig welding for 9 years, 4 years of voc school, 5 on the job. i found your channel very informative and well made keep up the good work. i made a third hand and i love it!
Your tips have helped me improve my welding. I just ordered two copies of the Metals book on your recommendation. I was amused to find used copies on Amazon for as much as $40. Thanks a lot.
dont change a thing. we all learn from you. dont listen to haters. thats why i watch all your videos because your not fake. thanks again and godbless you and your family.
I know it's an old comment but, brilliant! See, not your average dumbass or RUclips troll thinks on that level though. Show them a breakthrough in medicine, theyll bring you another disease. Lol
I have been welding for a few years but am just starting to weld aluminum. I have a nice Thermal Arc Acr Master Pro and have some good luck with it so far but not 100% sure of setting the pulse yet. My nephew just got out of A trade school were he took welding and he really can't weld but I bet if his teachers were more like you he would have a job welding and no flipping burgers. Thanks again.
I wondered if you knew anything good or bad about the TIG Pulse Arc Welders made by Sunstone Engineering? I would like to butt weld very thin (.012 - .020) sheet aluminum, stainless and titanium for something I would like to mass produce which would be exposed to heat . This Pulse Arc Welder will do the job with no filler metal. After watching your video on TIG welding aluminum and how but joints exposed to heat will crack when no filler metal is used now has me wondering?
Another good video! You ever hear of LESOTA LT-2000 stick rod? I got some and have no idea what it is. It's got a red colored flux coating. I'd like to know so I can use it .
The PowerTIG 185 looked really good in Jody's videos. It's also got a simpler setup and last time I looked it was going for a great price. I might pick one up this summer. It does have HF and you can get one with a pedal too. Hope this helps you!
I see a lot of your videos where you're using an everlast 140st or 160sth.. do they have a " next step" that welds AC as well as DC? with all the perks like HF, pedal, size, ease of set up and cost?
Awesome vid's. Have you already done a video on how to set your welder for aluminum? I'm just learning and the welder I borrow has a shit load of setting & dials
Mate, thanks for your great videos. You should start a Facebook group so I can promote you. I am about to start welding together a 5052 Alu hull. The tip for putting the pulse on 1 second intervals has helped me a lot. Thanks again! Deon
Hey Jody do you think it is better to do a vertical or a down or is it a preference. I mean will the bead be as strong either way or will the penetration be more shallow in one application than the other
Excellent video. For a woodworking guy who really has no clue about any welding whatsoever but needs to learn about welding aluminum so I can add a 1/2 inch extension to the skeg on my boat's Volvo outdrive so this helped me a lot! First I need to find out what type (number) aluminum the outdrive is made of! then get the rod the extension piece of metal of the same type and the appropriate rod. I might just do it with a blow torch for now, though, since I don't have an welding machine like that and a catalane torch produces pretty good heat. Plus I don't need perfect beads like that since I have to grind it smooth in the end for paint. So anyone with advice for me please do chime in! Thx.
Id like to get the book but the price in NZ is US$120 to $140! Even direct from Lincoln it is US$80. $68 postage for a single book!!! Non profit? Love your videos! You have turned me into a gifted amateur!! Are you on Patreon? If not you should be! I have a few dollars every month spare!!
I was in the same situation, shipping was almost 10x more than the book from the institute. I was able to find one used on abebooks at reasonable price and shipping.
Are you a teacher, too? I mean like a paid teacher at some institute? Bc if ur not, u should be. U really know ur stuff. I think u'd make some great welders in no time.
There is talk of 2024 and 7075 welding processes now nine years after this was published. I think I saw Jody review that process briefly in one of the fab techs he attended 2019?
Keep on using we. it's a good habit for class, and even better in a business arena. in the past I worked for boneheads that had nothing more than a clue of what I might be doing, and yet have the nerve to speak to the customer in terms of "I did this for you or I took care of that for you" We is proper.
I like The 'We". Inorder for him to know that you say "We" he became a second party in this interaction, so tell him or her that tey them self made it "we" once they clicked Play.
Just wanted to say thank you for taking the time to post all of these great videos for all of us wannabe welders. Thanks so much man!
Great shots of the Arc! I don't think I have ever seen such a clear shot of the arc in any video!
Keep em coming!

"we", is correct. The "we" is the instructor and the audience.

Hey Jody do you think it is better to do a vertical or a down or is it a preference. I mean will the bead be as strong either way or will the penetration be more shallow in one application than the other
They have the PowerTIG 185 AC/DC TIG welder. Jody reviewed it in a few of his videos.
hi can I use this welding on a boat that is in the water? I am not sure if I will shock my self or cause electrolysison the boat
Love your videos, Thanks so much for making them.
