Excellent recovery and finish on this Thomas, it always makes it a bit of a slog when these problems arise, glad you pushed through to complete it and happy I could help with the decals
Beautiful buld, Thomas! I'm a big fan of the GTR in it's many iterations, and this livery is probably my favorite. I've built the 1999 R34 version, and plan to revisit it someday. Your tips in this video will be quite useful when I build this version in the future.
I built it a long time ago, but if I remember correctly, the assembly is quite similar to this one. If I can find a set of new decals, I'll redo it, as it's a car that I really like and it's not up to my current build standards. I also really want to add the 2003 version to my ever growing stash.
Hi thomas about the exhaust. I got my end pieces turned around. I thougt i was looking way better. And yes it is not a beginners kit. But you made it nice after the paint dissaster. And see the supra and the skyline next to eachother is bringing back the Gr Tourismo Ps 2 times:))) After all a very nice result at the end.
Very nice build and explanation. I have just built mine too. I was trying to understand how to use the extra aero parts. I understood one is the difuser but no luck with other spares. 😅
Thanks very much! If you look on scalemates.com at other versions of this car, you'll probably find the instructions which use those bits. It happened a lot when Tamiya would bring out new versions for new seasons.
Thanks for watching! I was told today that I put the exhaust tips on the wrong way around! Whoops!
It's shining brightly 😍😍
Thank you! I'm happy with the finish
Well done! I love these old school Japanese race car builds!
Thank you, Daniel. Me too!
😍Love how the GTR turned out Thomas. 👍
Many thanks

Thanks so much for your help, Mike. Finding replacement decals isn't something I've had to do much before but you were a real lifesaver!
Turned out very nice well done
Many thanks Sarah Jane!
Nice work considering the problems with the kit. You really recovered well from the paint fiasco. Thanks for sharing.
Thanks Michael, I seriously thought about throwing it away at one point I was so unhappy with it. I'm glad I stuck with it though.
@@BOABModels Your patience paid off.
Very nice Calsonic, decals came out great 👍
Thanks David. Eventually with the decals... 😅

Thanks a lot, Gus! The R34 is probably my favourite as it was new when I was seriously getting into cars so I'd like to make that one myself too

I've got some older builds which I feel the same way. I know that Indycals do the Pennzoil decals but I'm not so sure about the Calsonic ones.
The last I checked, they didn't.
Great tips, thanks for this video, this one is in my to do list, a couple kits are before
Many thanks! I made a few mistakes so hopefully that will help you with yours.
Great video mate!! I have the same mini drill as that, when i use dettol for stripping I always mix it 50/50 with water and it still works great.
Cheers, mate. Have you dropped all the drill bits on the floor like I did too?
Good to know about the Dettol.
Nice work , definitely a kit that needs extra work. Hopefully give it a go this year.
Thanks very much! I think if you just approach it better than I did, you should be alright!
Nice paint work on the undercarriage/suspension parts.
Many thanks, Joe!
looks really good! ive built most of the calsonic models and this was my first many years ago, and it was probably one of the more difficult ones.
Thanks a lot. Yeah, This was tougher than I thought it'd be. I'd really like one of the newer Calsonic GTRs or maybe a classic one

Thanks very much, Jan! My brother chose this kit for me because the Supra reminded him of us playing Gran Turismo.
It turned out well in the end! I really like this livery, it's on my wishlist but I really need to finish the others I have in my stockpile first haha
Thanks a lot, Nick! I know what you mean - I'm trying to work through the stash before I buy many more.

Looks cool
Thank you
С Супрой классно смотрится
Thank you!
No top coat?
There definitely was a top coat as I polished this one. I may not have filmed it but I can't remember.
The exhaust tips are glued wrong way ;-)
Yeah, I mentioned it in the pinned comment.

The engine in this kit leaves much to be desired 🥲
Yeah, I don't think any Tamiya touring car kits have full engines, or none that I've seen anyway.
